We have been misled, financially exploited, and left in an extremely vulnerable position by one of your listed tradesmen. A 1-star review has been submitted — though frankly, 0 stars would be more appropriate. Due to your character limit, we were unable to even share the full extent of our experience.
You only carry out very basic checks on traders when they sign up and do not carry out annual checks as would be expected by a customer to ensure protection from rogue traders. Indeed, you have revealed to me that no checks have been carried out on the trader in question since 2022, (3 years) which is also the year his company was struck off.
I am astounded that you think that this is reasonable.”
“Do not use mybuilder! I was defrauded by a roofer who had set up multiple accounts through mybuilder to scam people out of their money. When reaching out to mybuilder for support on the matter, all I was told was that I should leave a review. There was no investigation into him or mention of compensation. They did close down the tradesman's account but this only blocked me gaining any further information on him to send to small claim's court.
I'd chosen this tradesman due to 27 positive reviews (which I now know were all fake). You can not trust any of the information listed on this profiles. My tradesman (Martin Cash) didn't have a registered company, an up to date address, phone number or email address - but mybuilder assured me that they "vet" every profile thoroughly.
They do absolutely nothing to protect the customer and allow cowboy builders to rip off vulnerable people time and time again. They should not be allowed to operate further without government registration on their tradesmen. Dreadful company.”
“I had a bad experience with a contractor, but my review was removed because the job wasn’t completed—due to the contractor’s own mistake. It seems the platform is biased in favor of the contractor, likely because they receive payment from them.”
“I used MyBuilder for the first time and will never use it again.
I was visited by Yusaf Jam, he did not have a clue what my boiler problem was and wasted 4 hours of my time investigating it. In the end I was exactly in the same situation as before his visit and was charged 500 pounds for this waste of time and problem not solved. Today a real professional plumber solved the problem as well as a leak in less than one hour for a fraction of what I was charged by Yusaf.
I am shocked that MyBuilder has this kind of members in their list.

“Attention tradespeople! It’s a scam! Got charged £9 + VAT to change an extractor fan. The customer had no interest in having it changed (I suspect it was a fake user). Paid £5 + VAT for lead to change a simple fixture. Called the guy and he was extremely rude and said it had already been fixed. It’s clearly a scam. Fake users with fake jobs. Be careful boys and girls”
“I hired Pawel a Polish trades man. He agreed on a price for jobs doing. He turned up the first day did an hours work and went away. He ignored my texts asking when he would be back. I got a text saying be there in fifteen minutes. He came did one door then said he had an interview and left. He wanted £200 for doing the jobs. I gave him £40 for materials and said if it is any more let me know. I said i would buy them. He bought a toilet seat and three kitchen cubpard shelves. I asked do i owe you any more money. No he said. He said he would get bits from the £200. He needed the money. I was stupid and gave him the money. Never seen him again. I cannot find him on the site. when i said i was going to the police, he sent me the thumbs up signe. Most of the jobs are not done and i cannot have him back with the texts he sent to me. One silly lady on her own.”

“I have never used My Builder. I am not a tradesman or a customer. However, recently just over £1000 was taken from my bank account by My Builder. I instantly called my bank and was forwarded to the fraud team. My details had been stolen and used with My Builder. I believe that My Builder owes me my money back. I have tried calling them but the phone is always engaged?! You cannot get through on the phone. I've sent emails and had no response. If anyone, customer or tradesman is thinking of using this company, I would advise to stay well clear. From reading the reviews it's all a scam and they clearly just want your money regardless of how they get it. It's disgusting that a company like this is allowed to keep going. Not only do they seem to con the tradesmen that use them and ignore genuine customers, they also seem to think its OK to take money from someone's bank account who has been a victim of fraud. Appalling.”

This site is a scam.
You have to pay £10 odd to be 'shortlisted' for a job which means you can just have the supposed customer details.
I did this twice and the 'customer' was some random call centre in London.
So I think they have people create fake jobs to get money from 'leads' fraudulently.
I can't be bothered to pursue just paid £18 to stop getting harassing emails and deleted account.”
“The trader, Kofi from Nian Concepts & Design, I hired through MyBuilder charged me money up front and did not finish his work. However, MyBuilder refused to get involved, not even wanted to help me upload the photos that I sent regardng the poor quality of work that the trader did.
