“I had a bad experience with a contractor, but my review was removed because the job wasn’t completed—due to the contractor’s own mistake. It seems the platform is biased in favor of the contractor, likely because they receive payment from them.”

“I used MyBuilder for the first time and will never use it again. I was visited by Yusaf Jam, he did not have a clue what my boiler problem was and wasted 4 hours of my time investigating it. In the end I was exactly in the same situation as before his visit and was charged 500 pounds for this waste of time and problem not solved. Today a real professional plumber solved the problem as well as a leak in less than one hour for a fraction of what I was charged by Yusaf. I am shocked that MyBuilder has this kind of members in their list. Never again”

“Attention tradespeople! It’s a scam! Got charged £9 + VAT to change an extractor fan. The customer had no interest in having it changed (I suspect it was a fake user). Paid £5 + VAT for lead to change a simple fixture. Called the guy and he was extremely rude and said it had already been fixed. It’s clearly a scam. Fake users with fake jobs. Be careful boys and girls”

“I hired Pawel a Polish trades man. He agreed on a price for jobs doing. He turned up the first day did an hours work and went away. He ignored my texts asking when he would be back. I got a text saying be there in fifteen minutes. He came did one door then said he had an interview and left. He wanted £200 for doing the jobs. I gave him £40 for materials and said if it is any more let me know. I said i would buy them. He bought a toilet seat and three kitchen cubpard shelves. I asked do i owe you any more money. No he said. He said he would get bits from the £200. He needed the money. I was stupid and gave him the money. Never seen him again. I cannot find him on the site. when i said i was going to the police, he sent me the thumbs up signe. Most of the jobs are not done and i cannot have him back with the texts he sent to me. One silly lady on her own.”

“Charged me £6 for opening a link they sent via email!! Explained to them I have no interest in pursuing work with them and want my account closed and emails to stop, they ignored and still pursuing £6”

“I have never used My Builder. I am not a tradesman or a customer. However, recently just over £1000 was taken from my bank account by My Builder. I instantly called my bank and was forwarded to the fraud team. My details had been stolen and used with My Builder. I believe that My Builder owes me my money back. I have tried calling them but the phone is always engaged?! You cannot get through on the phone. I've sent emails and had no response. If anyone, customer or tradesman is thinking of using this company, I would advise to stay well clear. From reading the reviews it's all a scam and they clearly just want your money regardless of how they get it. It's disgusting that a company like this is allowed to keep going. Not only do they seem to con the tradesmen that use them and ignore genuine customers, they also seem to think its OK to take money from someone's bank account who has been a victim of fraud. Appalling.”

“Hi I'm a tradesman, Gas engineer. This site is a scam. You have to pay £10 odd to be 'shortlisted' for a job which means you can just have the supposed customer details. I did this twice and the 'customer' was some random call centre in London. So I think they have people create fake jobs to get money from 'leads' fraudulently. I can't be bothered to pursue just paid £18 to stop getting harassing emails and deleted account.”

“The trader, Kofi from Nian Concepts & Design, I hired through MyBuilder charged me money up front and did not finish his work. However, MyBuilder refused to get involved, not even wanted to help me upload the photos that I sent regardng the poor quality of work that the trader did. We could not get our money back and now have an unfinished living room alcove.”

“I hired a tiler GS Decorating through them What a mess he left, 2 days later we are still trying to clean up the dried in grout off the window frame, the window, the tiles and drainer The whole floor had to be vacuumed and washed Sent photos to my builder but they are refusing to do anything When if I asked if they had seen the photos of the mess I was told I’m not a tradesperson You don’t need to be a tradesperson to see the mess of dried in grout we cleaned What a stupid remark I have cancelled another job I had posted with them Why did they want me to send photos if they weren’t going to do anything He made vile remarks about my husband when it was me who posted the job He was here for 3 hours on two daysIn future I will use a more reputable job finder”

“Alexander Sharples (mobile: +44 7496 095593) came to my house to fix a shower problem on Tuesday 5th July 2022. He didnt fix the shower problem - problem still remains. Also since he completed the job on Tuesday 5th July, water is leaking through the ceiling from the bathroom to the kitchen. Also water is leaking from the boiler. There has never been any water leak in the house prior to Alexanders. Alexander wanted cash payment so Id paid him £180 cash at his request on Tuesday. Today Alex has told me hes too busy to come back to fix the shower and water leakages. Now I have to find a reliable plumber to fix the problems & water leaks caused by Alexander. I’ve been ripped off. Im having sleepless nights. Alexander had good reviews on mybuilder.com but i believe his reviews are fake.”

“Mybuilder is a Ripoff company, invoice for none exciting job have No customer vetting to stop tradesmen from being ripped off. No tradesmen customer services. The worst company I've ever dealt with in my 30 years as a professional tradesmen. Mybuilder is only interested in filling thete pockets with tradesmans money. Avoid at all costs”

“The refund policy on shortlist fees is extremely strict and the customer service is terrible. I recently had a customer shortlist me the second I expressed interest in a job, before I had chance to send a basic rates/availability message. I sent my usual message and with no other chance to communicate in the day she just told me later on she had found someone else, no explanation, no other traders interested in the job or shortlisted for it. I complained to the site and they were totally obstinate and uncaring about my perspective. I am a sole trader and not doing massive jobs so the shortlist fees are already pretty high, and if I'm going to get shortlisted and rejected because the customer found someone on a different site, I'm making significant losses. If the customer hasn't used the site to get their builder, surely I shouldn't have to pay the site in that particular case? The customer service person was not sympathetic and just churned out policies instead of having a conversation. They obviously don't care at all about tradespeople and just in it for the money. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they created fake jobs and shortlisted everyone interested before not replying to any in order to cream a bit extra from tradespeople. I'm sure they can't be any use at preventing poor trades or cowboys from using the site, so I imagine it's not good for customers either. In addition to this the shortlist fees seem to be calculated in an unclear and sometimes illogical way. Based on items the customer does or doesn't tick one person listing a job could find a shortlist fee triple that of someone who didn't add as much detail for the exact same job.”

“Poor workmanship. Poor service. Incomplete work. Broken promises by contractor. Little or no support from My Builder. The only advice given was to next time take out insurance as My Builder was unable to intervene and taking legal action was not advised due the low cost of work”

“Had new roof installed by technicalroofingsolutions in manchester and after 2 days i have a leak but when i contacted the roofer who was recomended by MY BUILDER they dont answer the phones or reply to txts or emails and the guarantee they give you turns out to be false. This company is a joke.”
