The advert is right they don't do things the same way as the big banks. They are much worse. They are not only amateurs but self righteous amateurs. No regard for customer service. And the IT system is featuring on the Antiques Roadshow next week.

30 years a member, 6 different types of a account and over £12,000 currently with this 'mutual', but I'm not 'invested' enough as a member? This is the same board who preach about being a mutual, where 'we are all valued', yet there is no say about the £600 MILLION being paid to Mr Branson esq? This in exchange for a bank he controversially got for nothing and is probably worth next to nothing now. While the sanctimonious fat cat board have their snouts in the trough, denying members a say in a questionable takeover, only a minority of others benefit from 'their' largesse, other societies are awaiting my accounts. Once my ISA matures that's where its all going too, **** the self-serving Nationwide!

1 star is too much for this bank 1 star is too much for this bank. They attempted you with 5% interests to get the money from your savings then they - use very junior people to manage your account who does not have any common senses - the complaint team is even worse, full of junior people with robotic answers. - zero digitalisation, you can’t even access your money once you opened your account Go else where as there are plenty of banks who have a basic customer service.

My daughter's account closed for a month and under review. No reason or explanation given,no access to the funds ! Absolutely furious,will be closing my accounts with them in very near future.

I had current account with nationwide for almost 7 years and I have not one positive thing to say about them. My whole experience has been overwhelmingly negative. They are technologically incompetent luddites who think 14 day waiting times for things most other banks sort out in a matter of hours is perfectly ok. They froze my account twice on completely flimsy and idiotic reasons and left me with no access to my own money for over a month. They eventually decided to close my account and gave me no reason. The stress and hardship they put me through seemed none of their business and they were callous and unsupportive. Their in branch staff are horrible and mostly incompetent as well. Avoid this bank like the plague . Using Monzo now and it’s been nothing but good things

Aberdeen branch blocked my pin number! When I eventually spoke to a human being they could not explain why! I now have to wait 5 working days for new card and pin number!!! I have no access at all to my money and have none! Furious does not cover it!! 8 have a lot of money in 2 accounts which I will be transferring elsewhere ASAP

I have read loads of reviews that say it all .haveing being a member for 50 years ,I can’t even go to any ATM machine now to access my money. have been told we can only use branch machines ,unfourtunatly our nearest branch is in a very rundown town sand does not feel safe .think were done very little was offered on the phone call ,don’t think they really cared ,shall move money asp . Sue .

This business is fraudulent. I caution anyone approaching it since they steal your money and pose as traders, then vanish when you ask for a refund. Fortunately, S I M O N C H. C O M saved me and assisted me in getting my money returned.

Struggled for months with their people over my withdrawal and they just kept deflecting me after taking all i had to give. If not for the resourcefulness of the professionals at M A D A C O V I . CO I would have still been in that mess. With their specialized encryption and data tracking they were able to locate and retrieve my forgone assets back for me

Nationwide once again has dropped me in it when I am abroad, this time it has forced its customer to upgrade to the app that does not work. In the past Nationwide worked for its members and it is clear from the scores here that is no longer the case. I will be closing all of my accounts at the earliest opertunity as they are not fit for purpose and can clearly not be trusted.

Absolutely rubbish customer service as my sister had told me, before I even went into the branch in my town. I tried to open an account online and for some reason, the attempt was botched. I went into the branch, and after half an hour, they couldn’t find any reason why my attempt to open an account had failed. Then I asked about ID to open an account, resulting in their “staff” standing around going through the ID I had brought (not photo-graphic as I don’t have it) and looking at me as though I am worthless, as I had my Council Tax bill and my Benefit Decision Notice. I tried again online to open an account, by phoning their number - someone said you can’t open another basic account (which is the only one they would offer me) if you already have another one with another bank. I went online and got a standard current account immediately with Halifax - and I asked them can I have an account with another bank at the same time, they said yes, and were kind and helpful. No messing around, they just let me have the account I wanted. Very kind and helpful and very good bank, better than my existing bank actually. No problems at all.

Awful, kept us waiting 9 weeks for a little extra on our mortgage only to be told no. Never missed a payment, have far more equity in the house than on our mortgage. I would never recommend them to anyone, I think they are more interested in biying Virgin money than looking after their loyal customers.

We worse experience with a bank in my life I ‘m a bank customer for 5 year ! I was needed a low mortgage for buy the flat , in general they prea prob the aplication , after lost my time 4 h in a video call for make the aplication , they refused the application , they leave me to waiting 1 months for the application answer !! Shame !!! And they say , they are not obligate to give a reason !!!! Shame for make the people waiting for nothing !!!!

I am a small investor. I recently sent a bank transfer to Cyprus, where my business partner is. Bank blocked the transfer and the only explanation I got, was that the financial regulations in Cyprus are loose-er comparing to UK and that the company I want to invest with is trading in cryptocurrencies and it has bad reviews on trustpilot. (Hello Nationwide! your trustpilot reviews are not good either, yet you claim to be legit!) At the same time they ignored me trying to explain that I'm doing business with this company, I know it and I want this transfer to go thru. Next thing I know my bank account is frozen, my banking application is blocked, my internet banking is blocked and I have no control over my money anymore! I struggle to contact with their departament they fancily call Fraud Departament, when this magical dept calls me, they can't even give me the correct number so I can call them back. After submiting requested documentation proving the transfer to be legitimate I get "frinedly" email saying their lordships at Nationwide will consider, in the mean time "I am not to contact anyone in the bank"! DISASTER!!! STAY AWAY!!!
