“Received £20 gift card for Fathers day. I confirmed balance online and decided to make a purchase on line with Fat Face. Unfortunately the card was not accepted by them. So I tried M and S. Their response was card not valid. I had the same problem a couple years back with one of these cards and binned it then. I dont have the appetite or time to waste on the card this time round so this card is going in the same direction. Absolute rubbish !!”

“Sounds like there is a scam going on with in the company. I had a £50 gift card went to use it but the back of the 3 digits was missing emailed them and said I spent it in boots I was away on holiday so not possible. The customer advisor before was going to send a replacement and asked for a picture of the front and back of card and then the next agent said there was a balance of £0 and then had a look at there complaints and it says you shouldn’t give them the gift card detailing an email or letter and it’s done by phone only.”

“As reported on previous reviews- same problem- card saying zero balance when tried to be used. Apparently card was used in JOHN LEWIS ( seams they like John Lewis)not long after card was activated- no CVV number on back also.”

“Absolutely DISGUSTING. My husband was given this gift card on his retirement. He went to spend it today card declined. Called customer service to be told no money on card as spent in John Lewis Solihull on 7th April. We live in Essex and if they decide to reissue card we have to pay £35. What part of FRAUD DONT THEY UNDETSTAND. FUMING”

“I would give a zero star review, but it will not let me. I had a card given to me for Long Service and due to the limited places you can actually spend it, held onto it. After checking my balance, I noticed after a period of time, they started charging £0.90 per month for the upkeep, which to me, makes little sense as it is an account that just exists on a computer, and should not incur a cost. Checking the balance this week, I spot 2 transaction I had not made for online gift cards; I immediately rang to report the issue, and was told to contact the police and get a crime number and then complete the online form they were sending me a secure link to. I duly complied and submitted the form, where a response within 1 working day was promised. After 2 working days passed, nothing, so I went online and completed another online form complaining; I then received another email saying they would contact me in the next 1-2 days. As This was unacceptable, I rang them again, but they were of little help and could do nothing. I then received an emailed response to the complaint and they had completely misread the situation and thought I would be happy with the refunding of some of the fees; I then replied again advising the situation, when they told me that to send a new card they would have to charge me a £35 fee; to me this is unacceptable for something that was not my fault. If you ever receive one of these cards, my advice, spend it immediately and do not ever think of buying one as a gift!”

“I was given £25 on a gift card on one of these, when I went to use it, it had no balance. Checking online there was a transaction made that definitely wasn’t me and I’ve had the card the whole time. Tesco should definitely stop selling these”

“Very poor service, purchased a digital card to send as a gift, payment taken, no card provided due to technical issues. order placed last week, only today did I receive an email to advise a refund would take up to 7 days. what a joke. Will not be ordering again. no customer care at all. AVOID!!!!!!!”

“The most useless company and very unhelpful bunch of customer service staff. Never will I use them again or ever recommend them. My £150 is still with them for over a year and they have promised to have posted a card to my home address when I requested for a swap from the virtual online voucher. Each time I cannot, they will ask me to wait for 7-10 days, they made me miss the item I wanted to use the card to purchase for my holiday. It not a nice experience and once I finally receive the card and I spend my money I never want to hear about them!!!! Worst company to have ever dealt with for nearly 60 years of my age!!!”

“Awful- absolute scam. Would give zero stars if I could. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop buying these cards! Just give money instead it will be a lot more appreciated because you can actually USE money instead of these Giftcards. They take money off monthly just overall a SCAM”

“DO NOT buy these gift cards! A disabled gentleman I know hot one for a present. He asked me to check his balance as he hadn’t used it for a while, it was ZERO! Why? Because they take 90p off your balance every single month you don’t use it - DISGUSTING!!!”
