I had eye surgery at the Manchester clinic in mid 2011. The service was excellent value, I was given great advice before hand. The surgery was quick and very professionally done. Also the aftercare was excellent and I felt confident that I was being properly supported. I would recommend the service to anyone who is stuck with glasses or contact lenses, as it saves a lot of trouble and money in the long-run.

I was short sighted, so used to wear glasses all the time. When i went in and had my laser eye surgery, i will admit i was a bit nervous, but i had nothing to worry about. The surgeons and nurses were great. Within 2 weeks i had 20/20 vision. I have not had to wear glasses since.

i went into the clinic feeling blind as a bat, i couldnt see anything without my thick glasses,i wasnt nervous as everything had been carefully explained, after a few pre op tests i was called in for my surgery,i was talked through each step,i felt no pain or discomfort at all during procedure just a small amount of pressure,it took less than ten mins and when i sat up all be it a bit blurry i could see better than with my glasses already!!,the journey home was rather uncomfortable,my eyes felt like they were full of sand,i was advised to go home to sleep for a couple of hours which i did and by the time i woke they felt 80% better,by the next morning they were almost normal just a little sensitive to light, the drops prescribed really helped, two days after surgery i was back to my normal routine and driving,it still amazes me nearly a year on how beautiful things are around me, colours are so different,i read every day, when i couldnt see properly i used to worry i would eventually go blind and now i dont feel like that at all,i admire the world from new eyes, its quite expensive but there are easy payment options, dont let it put you off,it will be the best money you ever spend, thank you everyone at optical express and thanks to my husband for footing the bill!! oh and as for my glasses i dont miss them at all

Like most people, I had concerns about laser treatment and all the horror stories of how it can go wrong. On reflection, the advise I received was from people who have no experience of this treatment. I was amazed on so many fronts how good the treatment was. The recovery time was minimal and the results immediate. Almost one year later my only regret was putting off the treatment . The staff were very good and friendly. In total I had a day and a half off work and was driving within 24 hours.

Six years or so ago I went to the opticians for a check up and was told I was (borderline) in need of glasses for driving. I am far sighted and in recent times I needed reading glasses, and bought ready readers. The prescribed glasses had additional anti-glare, multi-focal, all singing and dancing and cost a considerable amount of money, I didn't mind wearing glasses my dear father always wore glasses and so did my mother from about fifty onwards, so I was grown up. One of the things that was a bit of an issue was that over the next few years the rate at witch my vision was changed meant I would need to change glasses at least once a year or make do. As an artist and art teacher I found I needed to use different lenses for close work and different glasses for looking at the students down the class and at there work, and I was squinting. Eye Laser Treatment is something I had heard about for years and years and recently had seen adverts on television, so I thought I would take them up on the offer of having a free consultation and evaluation to see how viable it was for me. At my first consultation I was delighted to know that happily I could have the treatment done and that the consultant was quite confident it could meet the criteria and expectations, it might mean that I may still need glasses for close work, but so does Jerry Springer apparently (though I don't know if he has had any laser treatment done), so I could live with that. It seamed as well to have a further consultation so after some research went with Optical Express and was even more convinced that I would benefit from having the procedure done. There were some other considerations for me to make. Number one who would I trust with my eyes? could I afford it? could I afford not to do it? where would I go for the surgery and after care, and so on. Having weighed it all up I opted for Optical Express, caught the train and went to Southampton, I even enjoyed looking around the shops and the market, bought myself a pair of sunglasses. At the clinic I was greeted by a lovely receptionist, offered coffee and had a quick questionnaire and document to sign, then I was ready. Well as ready as I could be. I do relaxation techniques so I thought this was one of those occasions where it might come in handy, a bit like the dentist. The surgeon was a bit miffed, as were the other staff as to why I had gone on my own to have the treatment? well it never crossed my mind and if it did I decided to go by myself on the train, and was quite confident I would be fine to return home the same way. The surgery it's self took a few seconds and the whole procedure about ten minutes as I recall, but the first thing I noticed was that my vision was not blurred any more even though I was looking through the gel put on. The staff were fantastic and helped me to adjust while I made my way out of the clinic and said my goodbyes, I then made my way out of the Mall and bought some Tom Thumb wallflowers for the garden at the market and made my way to the station and home. The following day I was taken to Horsham for my first after op appointment and knew the procedure was very successful One of the things that I expected was that I would probably need glasses for reading and it would take some time to heal and adjust. The procedure was done in October 2011 and thus far I do not require any glasses what so ever. I am amazed each day, as I look around the room near and far and as I type need no glasses, What a result! I highly recommend Optical Express and have been more than satisfied with all the staff locally and in Southampton. Best wishes Leslie Martin

Having the surgery is the best thing I have ever done. I have to admit I was nervous, but the surgeon put me completely at ease and it was over so quickly! Best of all I've just had my first holiday and it was fab to not have to take glasses, contact lenses, solution etc.... All I needed was my sunglasses. Now, my daughter is booked in to have her eyes done this month too!

I can still hardly believe I've had laser eye surgery. It was the easiest most painless thing I've ever known and a fantastic result of amazing vision at the end. I've not had one single problem since, nothing. It was a case of a couple of appointments at my local optician, off to have the surgery, in and out within an hour, a week of being careful and wearing goggles and then the enjoyment of 20:20 vision! As I say, I can hardly believe I've had it done! Was the best thing I ever did.

I suppose everyone thinks.... will I, wont I? What if? People tell you 'oh I heard of such and such and this happened' I heard it all. However I went ahead and had it done almost a year ago and I havent looked back. I love the fact I dont have to wear contact lenses every day or woory about running out of them or them getting split and stuck in my eye. There is no doubt the surgery is a strange experience...a bit furturistic like something in a SCI Fi movie! But I would recommend it 100%. You will be looked after very well and the procedue is pain free. A few days slight discomfort and I reinforce slight is woth it. So dont think will I just do it!! you wont look back.

Optical Express looked after me so well before, during and after my surgery. I just wish I'd have had it done years ago when I first started thinking about it! It really has been the best decision I have made. Some people have said to me about the money it cost, but I think it is really cheap when you think I can see better than 20/20 now! No more glasses, no more contact lens!

The procedure is very good and quick, and not painful at all (except maybe to the pocket), and the results can be seen within half an hour. There are follow up visits to check how your eyes are adjusting, as a 60 year old I was short sighted but could read without glasses, but because of my age I now have to use reading glasses for very small print, but can see other things clearly for the first time in 45 years. and can wear a decent pair of sunglasses when the sun finally decides to show its face.

Laser eye surgery was something I had contemplated for years But it always seemed too risky or too expensive. When I made the decision to have the procedure, I did so after much research and discussion. It was a wonderful choice! The surgery itself was quick and all I had to do was relax for a few minutes while the procedure took place. Innitially my eyes were swollen and uncomfortable. I went home and went to bed. In the morning it felt like a miracle had occurred... I could see everything clearly from across the room!! My eyes have continued to be trouble free and I have better than 20/20 vision. It has been a life changing experience - I smiled non stop for at least the first month and I still smile at the feeling of elation I had to discover I no longer needed contacts or glasses to live my daily life. Thankyou.

I had been wearing glasses ever since I can remember so it made a huge difference for me taking this eye laser surgery. I know look and feel like a new person and even my closest friends dont recognise me! I can wear sunglasses, go to the beach and actually see a few meters infornt of me, watch tv and I can even see better than my friends! The list goes on and on! The healing process is super fast (Intralase Wavefront) and all the medication only lasts for a week which doesnt apply on other companies/doctors. Also the price is cheaper. Both of these is mentioned with facts from my cousin who made the same operation at a doctor and cost him around ?1000 more and 5 weeks of medication (drops etc) This is the best thing I have ever done for my self so far and it was worth every penny. Almost 1 year now since my laser eye surgery with no complications and still can see perfectly!

Anyone reading this review who is considering Laser Eye Surgery all I would say is do it. I live in Sheffield and had my initial consultation at the clinic in Meadowhall but I had the actual surgery at Manchester. Both clinics were absolutely brilliant. Any questions I had were answered in a way I could understand without any pressure to go ahead. The procedure was explained in full detail. I had the LASIK wavefront surgery and choose to have the mechanical flap rather than a laser flap, at first the thought of the flap been created with a tiny blade made me feel a little sick and I was extremely nervous however the procedure was totally pain free and was complete in less than 10mins, once the drops had worn off my eyes stung a little, the best way I could explain this was I felt like I'd been chopping strong onions, runny eyes and a stinging sensation, my eyes were sensitive towards the bright lights of passing cars so I just kept my eyes closed. By the time we got back from Manchester to Sheffield the sensation had gone and I sat at home watching TV without any problems at all. My vision has never been this good, I feel like I can see everything in permanent HD, it's amazing. I wore contact lenses for 15 years and I can't tell you how much of a relief it is to not have them anymore. I would highly recommend Laser Eye Surgery to anyone and I can honestly say I wish I had done it years ago.

I made a special journey from France to have the laser eye surgery. I had been thinking about having the treatment before I left the uk, 6 years ago, but I just didn't get round to it. I am glad I left it until I did as I believe the technology has improved. As I was making a special journey, I tried to make specific appointments and booked at London Shaftsbury Avenue and bought train tickets in advance to make sure everything was planned. For my initial consultation I had booked at Cambridge. (Sarah and Paula were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble and answered all my questions.) When I arrived in the uk I found out that Shaftsbury Avenue had been cancelled for my planned surgery day. They did not let me know - I had given them my telephone number and e-mail address and asked them to contact me if necessary. This is my only complaint. I was staying with a friend and luckily she didn't mind altering her plans and driving me to Thurrock Way where I had the surgery. It was brilliant and the team were great. I asked for extra drops in case of dryness, as the person who recommended Optical Express to me told me that she needed lots of drops and to make sure I had plenty. I wasn't waiting for too long before I had the surgery, where I didn't feel any pain or discomfort. There was a bit of discomfort for the first hour, though it was an extremely bright, sunny day and although I wore sunglasses, as advised, the brightness of the sun did trouble my eyes, but I kept them closed and this soon passed. My super improved vision was definitely worth it. The day after the treatment I continued to wear the sunglasses and rested for most of the day and had a few small red spots on my eyes. These soon disappeared. I normally wear sunglasses anyway and continued to as advised. I have had no problems whatsoever, although I did ask for some more "blink" drops, which Cambridge kindly sent to France for me as occaisionally my eyes felt slightly dry. I had a later follow-up appointment at York and the staff there were great too. Now, a year later, all is well and it is great to be able to get out of bed in the morning and just go - no messing around putting lenses in and soaking and cleaning them and I have worked out that the surgery will pay for itself after 5 years, compared to the price I was paying for contact lenses. I enjoy watersports and competitive horse riding and I used to loose my lenses when I jumped fences into water (which proved difficult to negotiate the rest of the cross country course!) and had to wear goggles when swimming and diving. No worries now. I take it for granted now when I look into the distance and can see things perfectly clearly - I have better than 20/20 vision. I would definitely recommend this procedure to anyone having doubts. I am still waiting to recieve the vouchers to give to people so that they can save on their treatment, but the surgery itself is superb. To conclude, regarding my experiences of Optical Express Laser Eye Surgery, the administration can be a bit annoying, but the surgery and medical team are superb. Many thanks Helen Rhys

Hi I had laser surgery last year.I had been following eye surgery since its infancy many years ago.Now at age 55 with a few savings behind me i decided it was then or never. The procedure from start to end was efficiently handled by all the staff at the clinic.i was well looked after without being fawned over.i was well informed of what was happening (or about to happen)On Op day the surgical team spelled it all out,ie: what the machines do what they sound like so theres no surprises.Operation was quick and painless, granted a little uncomfortable but the results are outstanding So to summarise: A bit expensive,a little uncomfortable but MY God its worth it

Not cheap because of the treatment required and at 60 I thought a bit of a gamble but, one or the best things I have ever done. They warned me at the clinic that I may have to still wear glasses for reading but that my long vision would be okay. Its over a year now and my long vision took a while to settle but now is perfect and my near sight is far better than expected and I can even read the small print in the contract and certainly dont need glasses. All in all I dont think I could be more delighted and would and do recommend to everybody.

Fantastic and stress free..... If I would have known how quick, comfortable and easy the surgery was I would have had it done years ago. My eyesight is fantastic and better than I expected and my self confidence has increased too. The staff and after service was brilliant and made the experience comfortable and straight forward.
