“I would say that this has probably been one of the smoothest Indian application processes that I've been through. It's fairly straightforward and the Pan card express team give regular updates. The only thing I would say is that when you call the contact number Pan card team, they only say "hello" and not "hello, this is Pan Card Express, how can I help you?" which leaves you thinking for a moment that you may have not called the right number. Also it takes well over a month for your application to be processed so you have to repeatedly check the status which sometimes does not load if there is a problem with the website. They also need to make it clear that if someone is not at the delivery address to sign for delivery of the card, then it simply goes to the local post office depot and can be redelivered and not (as was implied by one email to me) back to the Indian tax authority whereupon a replacement card would have to be purchased. Tracking the delivery on the Indian Post website is also frustrating as they can take a number of days to update their statuses so you enter the tracking number and it says "not recognised" which can be alarming. But all that said, otherwise it is as previously said one of the easier Indian applications and far simpler than for example the OCI process.”
