“I bought a one-year subscription for my food-loving son as a gift. He loves to cook and will eat anything from any region. So far, he likes the service and the recipes. There are so many recipes to try beyond the monthly ones.
His only suggestion would be to vary the regions within the box to give 4 different area recipes. The first box contained 4 Puruvian recipes which were interesting to him, but he was going to store 3 of the spice blends to use later since cooking 4 similar dishes in one month is not desirable.
This service is all about variety and expanding the palate, so mixing it up a bit would be helpful.”

“I've only gotten 1 package so far, but I enjoy the little recipes and spice packets (fresh and still pungent). The only thing is that I was hoping for some more variety and the first package I got was a little too familiar to me (shichimi, gochugaru, furikake, curry). Still I like the package overall. So, realistically, it's more like a 4.5, dinged slightly just because I bought this originally to try new spice blends I might never have picked up on my own, or at least not full jars of, and I just didn't get it on this one.”

You can see what we ship in the monthly susbcription by simply going to our recipe gallery and browsing the recipes posted for the given month. While we post more digital recipes than we ship to customers, you will see the spice blends used in the recipes on each recipe page and we only ship 4 spices per month. Hope that helps!
“Love the whole concept and have found many recipes to make time and again. I wish it was possible to buy the spice blends in larger quantities. And I also wish the recipes were proofread with greater attention. I have several recipes with glaring mistakes, such as a fish recipe that does not list fish as an ingredient. “We have enjoyed receiving our new spices each month. We do use the alternate recipes frequently as we don't eat red meat. I think each month includes one vegetarian meal as standard, which we appreciate. I don't think we've had a 'loser' recipe yet. The recipes are for four servings, so we have to decide whether we're going to halve a recipe or have leftovers. Twice we have frozen the leftovers when the recipe gave us the equivalent of 6 servings. That worked well for us, too.”
Hi Greta, thanks for your great review. The printed recipe cards are designed for a general omnivore audience and we do try to mix up the protein selection. However, we have a vegan chef posting plant based recipes on our website in digital form for every spice blend we send each month. There are even more recipes options to browse on our website. Enjoy!

“The recipes are well written and easy to follow. The spice packets are usually something different from what I'd normally cook with so it makes that evening's meal fun. My only complaint is that there is often not enough "zing" to the recipes. I know you must be doing this to accommodate a majority of palates, but it'd be nice to be able to give a particular dish some extra oomph.”

Hi Jeff, thanks for the feedback. We understand the frustration with the transit time. To clarify, we mail our monthly subscriptions using USPS first class mail ("snail mail") to your regular mailbox. This helps us keep shipping costs down but it also means that we are subject to the delays of USPS mail, which have increased in frequency and duration throughout the pandemic. 1-2 weeks is considered normal right now and, sometimes we see these take a little longer. Unfortunately, we cannot control transit times.

The only downside is the spice mixes are not always available on their website for sale, so we have some favorite recipes that we have not been able to make again. I wish all of the spice mixes were always available to buy individually.”

We're a small team and do our best to add our newest spice blends to our online catalog in a timely manner. But we have been short staffed this summer.
