The accommodations were excellent, the food was delicious and the people were just lovely. All the excursions were well thought out and seamlessly carried out. My wife and I could not have asked for anything more. Thank you

Quasar portion of our Jeep Safari was very well planned and organized. They provided important staff coordination on-site. Hotels were excellent except the one in El Califate, ARG. There seemed to be many better choices available.

Hi Peter, We greatly appreciate your review. A couple of seasons ago, 3 of the better hotels in Calafate closed for business for different reasons, and the options for good lodging experiences in the area suddenly became very reduced. Today you only have one true 5-star hotel in the area, and while a couple of properties in Calafate label themselves as 5-star hotels (and show the 5 stars on their websites) our experience over the past several years in Patagonia has shown us that they are really 4-stars, at best. Some properties in Calafate have better locations and better views than other properties where we often put our guests, as was the case with your trip we believe. However, our experience over the years has shown us that many of these properties are inconsistent when it comes to food, service, amenities and attention to detail. We have had overall better feedback from other properties that perhaps may not have the best views or the best location, but our guests have been happier with the food, service and accommodations. We feel that this is more important to our clients than the location or views, especially since one spends most of the day outside of the hotels exploring the National Parks. We always put our guest’s satisfaction first, by choosing the best option available at the time of booking, considering the limited availability of good hotels in the area. If you would like to give additional feedback on this matter for future guests, we encourage you (and anyone reading this comment) to contact us at customerservice-chile@quasarex.com so that we may answer all your questions or concerns. We thank you again for having chosen Quasar Expeditions to experience the wilds of Patagonia, and hope to see you back in another one of our destinations soon. Thank you, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

Our trip to the Galapagos was fantastic. There was not one thing I could think of that could have been better. The crew, the guides, the excursions, the food, the accommodations were beyond my expectations and my expectations were high. Thank you to Diane and Paul Schicke for being the best booking agents ever! I would definitely book Quasar Expeditions for any trip to South America and I would definitely refer my friends and family.

Travelling with Quasar expeditions on the vessel Evolution was an amazing experience we will not forget. We were a little apprehensive to be on a boat for a week in close quarters with 30 people , however the vessel and crew made this a wonderful memorable experience. It was an action packed week due to the group largely being family’s with teenagers, but this made it great fun for us with no kids of our own . The food and drinks were ist class and by the weeks end we all felt like family. I do understand some groups can be older , so it is probably sensible to check the mix of passengers so you get no surprises. Quasar were very helpful and professional in every regard

My wife and I spent a wonderful week on the M/V Evolution in May 2018. The ship had been recently renovated and it looked great. The room was beautiful and spacious. The bathroom was good sized as well. The common spaces (particularly the upstairs bar/lounge area) were big and very comfortable. There was plenty of space for all 32 passengers. The food was delicious and the staff took great pains to accommodate everyone's needs. Speaking of the staff they were superb. Great personalities and very attentive. The guides were extremely knowledgeable. The itinerary was fantastic, in particular the snorkeling. The only negative, and it obviously didn't stop us from giving this 5 stars, was that our room (C7) had a funky smell coming from the shower drain after 2-3 days at sea. After about 20 minutes in the room you didn't notice it so it wasn't real strong, but we could tell when we first walked in. I'm told that other passengers haven't complained since so they must have fixed it. The location and layout of C7 was great though. We never heard the anchor being dropped early in the AM and we didn't feel the swells that much. I'd recommend the room and certainly Quasar and the Evolution!

We had our journey with Quasar expeditions on the Grace boat in the Galapagos Islands recently. The boat was almost as good as the pictures but you could see some aspects were slightly faded. Altogether though it was a very pleasant boat - we loved the intimacy versus some of the other larger boats we saw on our travels around the islands. The staff were excellent, food very good and attention to details stood out. The guides we had were willing to adjust their schedules to suit our needs and always tried to get us to the main spots before any other boats arrived to ensure we had the best views and experience. My only suggestion would be that you definitely get travel insurance if you book these tours, they are very expensive and if something goes wrong, you will find yourself in a situation where returnable monies will be very difficult to receive. All reasonable of course, but it can leave people in a very precarious situation. Overall, I would recommend the Grace, would suggest it's better for couples rather than large families or small children. The Galapagos Islands were an outstanding experience

Hello Rachael, Thank you for your review. While we endeavor to keep the Grace looking in tip top shape with rooms and common spaces cleaned twice daily, occasionally the equatorial sun takes a toll on fabrics and we therefore schedule to change these often to keep the yacht looking crisp. A great advantage of the Grace being originally built in the Golden Age of Travel is all the outdoor space under shade, which gives our passengers a front row seat on that amazing Galapagos climate and habitat. Keeping the size down to 18 means you will have that more intimate experience and not have to vie for photos of wildlife on single file nature trails, or spend time on logistics or lectures, when you could be out exploring the islands. And you experienced the flexibly having a small yacht offers. If we see a pod of dolphins we will often stop and jump in with them. The slow season in the Galapagos is when kids are in school, so couples looking to have less kids on a cruise should look at dates when schools are in session. Many of our families have had an amazing time on the Grace including private charters for family reunions. However, our 32-passenger yacht the Evolution is probably the best family yacht in the Galapagos. I invite you to read my blog on Why the Galapagos Is the Ultimate Family Vacation - https://www.quasarex.com/blog/why-the-galapagos-is-the-ultimate-family-vacation Yes, Quasar recommends all passengers purchase trip cancellation / interrupt insurance. This insures the non-refundable parts of your tour should you need to cancel or curtail your adventure due to unforeseen events such as illness. It is good practice for any travel experience. Thank you for traveling with us! Thank you, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

18 of our family and friends boarded the Grace for our Galapagos adventure. We had the most amazing time. Rafa and Walter were wonderful guides, planning our itinerary to avoid “eye pollution” as Rafa called it, so we had the most private experiences possible. For most of the trip, we felt like we were on private islands. The chef, Vicente, prepared fabulous dishes, we had tons of fun hanging at the bar with Saul, and I can’t forget the lovely Melissa and her soothing wake-up calls with soft music over the speakers. The crew were professional with Anderson making our beds multiple times a day like a phantom, the panga captains’ expertise in getting us to the islands. Last but not least, the Galapagos is a very special place. Snorkeling and playing with sea lions, seeing tons of turtles, sharks, fish, blue footed boobies, flamingos, iguanas, sting rays, tortoises, etc. The islands are also very different and beautiful with lush rainy weather on one and dry volcanic areas in others. The travel agent said the guides make or break the experience. Well, we had a once in a lifetime amazing experience, and we owe it to Quasar and M/Y Grace.

We had such a fabulous time on our Galapagos cruise. The itinerary was excellent and we were up close and personal with so many different animals. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the food and facilities were perfect.

We had the most wonderful Galapagos Island cruise aboard Quasar's M/Y Grace. The yacht is itself a truly graceful vessel and we enjoyed a cabin on "A" deck. The crew were amazing, always able and willing to help with a smile. The food served aboard the yacht was also excellent, with a wide variety always on offer. Above all, however, were the shore excursions with the naturalist guides. We will never forget the individual islands with their amazing scenery, flora and fauna. It was a magical experience from start to finish. We will certainly be recommending Quasar Expeditions to our friends.

Many thanks for a great week on the M/Y Grace. It truly is a very special and wonderful experience to visit the islands, with great guides who are extremely knowledgeable and to see so close up all the wonderful animals and sights of the Galapagos. The service and quality of the crew on the M/Y Grace are exceptional and look after you like we are Kings. Many thanks for another wonderful week and will be back for our third cruise soon.

Our experience on Quasar was beyond anything we could have imagined. The staff and naturalists guides were professional, personable and attentive to any need we might have, going beyond our expectations to accommodate a dietary restriction. The cabins were well-appointed, clean and comfortable, far exceeding our expectations for size. The food was amazing, fresh and healthy. The experience of being in the Galapagos was truly amazing - I can't think of a better outfitter for this bucket list trip!

We booked our trip of a lifetime with Quasar Expeditions after extensive research -- narrowing it down to the Evolution’s Western itinerary with a chance at visiting Española and seeing the waved albatross. The booking process was organized and well managed by Diane and Paul - whose years of experience were evident every step of the way. They fielded my many questions, gave thoughtful advice, set up our land tours in mainland Ecuador and were extremely responsive in providing any information we required. Quito and Day Tours: Quasar set up a walking tour of Colonial Quito for us and our guide Vicki was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Ecuadorian history and culture while visiting churches, the plazas, food shops and a museum. Our full day tour with Pablo was excellent and we covered a lot of ground taking a trip up to the Andes Highlands. We visited the Equator monument, saw Mira Lago and tried Ecuadorian “bizcoches”, did a short hike to Peguche waterfall, visited the home of artisan weavers using traditional looms, had lunch at charming old Hacienda Pinsaqui and finished the day shopping at Otavalo market. We enjoyed Pablo immensely and appreciated his ability to answer all of our questions as well as his professionalism. We learned a great deal about Ecuador that we wouldn’t have if we had just done the cruise and that made our 3 nights in Quito worth it. The Ship and Cabin: We also chose the Evolution based on the number of passengers - 32 - which seemed just right to us. This size allowed for manageable numbers at meals, on board and during excursions as they always split the group up in the "pangas" (zodiacs) to go hiking and snorkeling. We chose a cabin on the D level and did not regret the decision. The cabin suited our needs perfectly - enough storage space, charging outlets, a very comfortable bed and a huge bathroom by ship standards. The crew cleaned the cabin several times a day so we always had fresh linens if required and a spotless bathroom. We spent most of our days busy with activities, meals and socializing and did not miss having an accessible porthole since we really only returned to the cabin to shower and sleep. The Evolution was recently remodeled and the new decor is tasteful, modern and classy with clean lines and a coastal spin. Very inviting. The Crew and Guides: We cannot say enough good things about the crew and our guides. From the warm welcome we received, we knew we had chosen the right “home away from home” for the week. The service was 5-star without being fussy -- the crew treated us warmly, kindly and genuinely. Everyone was extremely polite and professional -- a special shout-out to Edison our Cruise Director who knew everyone’s name within a day (and helped make my birthday special) and our bartender Franklin who was a real gentleman. We were also impressed that the Captain was so personable even accompanying us on several outings and interacting with all the passengers. Our naturalist guides Roberto and Carolina were fantastic as well -- passionate about the Galapagos, conservation, the wildlife, ecology, geology and eager to share their knowledge with us. They made every outing memorable with their enthusiasm and unique approaches to sharing such a special place with us. Excursions: Days start early on the Evolution and are jam-packed with activities from morning until dusk. This is not a relax and chill on the deck kind of cruise! Get ready to snorkel in an ocean teaming with marine life, hike on pristine, untouched islands and be wowed by birds, tortoises, iguanas, sea lions, penguins, gorgeous volcanic landscapes, forests and beaches. The guides prepare you with a briefing the night before so you know exactly what the next day holds as well as what you need to wear and bring. Every day brought a new adventure in a new place and none disappointed. Food: The food was delicious! Served buffet style in the dining room (on occasion we had lunch outside on the deck which was wonderful) So many options for each meal with fresh fruits, vegetables, salads, several types of meat and also fresh seafood daily. Not to mention the brilliant pastry chef who spoiled us with dessert at lunch and at dinner! Fresh, wholesome cooking and really good quality. The Ecuadorian ceviche with popcorn is something everyone should try! Overall this was one of the best vacations we have ever taken and we would highly recommend Quasar Expeditions and the Evolution to anyone considering a trip to the Galapagos.

I felt at home and supported for ALL my needs, be they questions about nature and the Galapagos, or our itinerary and food options. Everything on the ship was clean and tidy, and the rooms were very spacious for a ship. I can’t wait to join again!

We did extensive research before deciding on the ship Evolution for our Galapagos cruise. Since it is owned by Quasar Expeditions we contacted them to plan our trip. Diane and Paul (in the US office) were extremely helpful and personable in planning our itinerary. We booked our own flights to Quito but once we arrived we were in the capable hands of our Quito guide and driver, Gustavo. He was knowledgeable, interesting, always prompt and very cordial. Diane had recommended Hacienda La Jimenita for our pre-Galapagos stay of three nights and we couldn't have been more pleased. It was a lovely property with a most welcoming owner, Daniel, and a wonderful, warm staff. We stayed there one night also post-Galapagos and felt like we were returning home. Our seven day cruise on the Evolution was great. The staff was outstanding, cabin very nice, food delicious, and plenty of activities with two excellent naturalist guides. From start to finish this was an exceptional trip and we highly rate Quasar Expeditions and would certainly travel with them again.

Wonderful trip. The Grace is a terrific boat. We loved our cabin and the common areas. Staff was superb especially accommodating Lynette’s dairy allergy. The excursions were great fun...especially the snorkling. Our naturalist (Sam) was extremely knowlegeable and entertaining. I would highly (highly) recommend the Grace to anyone thinking about a trip to the Galapagos.

From the moment I got to the Galapagos and got on your beautiful boat, my trip exceeded any expectations I may have had! Each day was a new discovery, from the moment we swam with the sea lions to our last day on North Seymour island with the frigates and the booby’s! Our naturalists, Gustavo and Walter, had so much knowledge And their love and respect for their islands was palpable. I can’t imagine that I will take another trip in my life that will top this one, so thank you so much!
