I cannot recommend Quasar's Galapagos cruise on the Evolution highly enough. My husband and I were first-time cruisers and the idea of cruising at all really put us off-- we typically like to have control over our plans, active schedules, flexibility, etc., but were told by many experienced travelers that the best way to see the Galapagos is by boat because of the scarcity and limitations on hotels. We are so glad we chose Quasar. Not only are the smaller ships (the Evolution has a maximum of 32 passengers) easier on the environment, but they also allow you to have a very personalized and intimate experience with the wildlife. We had 3 naturalist guides (all of whom had advanced degrees in biology, conservation, etc.) on our ship meaning we typically broke up into groups of about 10, and we very seldom ran into other groups or ships during excursions. Everybody was able to get up close to the incredible wildlife -- we saw sea lions, crabs, hammerhead sharks, white-tipped sharks, flamingos, penguins, sea turtles, tortoises, dolphins, iguanas, three types of boobies, other birds, tons of sea life, and I'm sure other things I'm forgetting. Everyday was packed with activities from snorkeling to short hikes to kayaking, etc. The small size of the ship also meant that we were able to be more flexible. For example, one day after lunch we saw in the far distance a pod of dolphins swimming by - the guides quickly leapt into action, told us to put our life jackets on, and we hopped into the dinghy boats to catch up to them. We spent 20-30 minutes riding alongside a pod of hundreds upon hundreds of dolphins, who were swimming, breaching, flipping, and playing alongside us. It was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had in my life. I can't imagine a ship of 100+ passengers being able to do that. It wasn't on our schedule, but the guides really and truly were all about giving us the best experience ever and making sure we saw all that we could. In addition, the boat itself was beautiful and extremely well kept. They do an excellent job of keeping everything incredibly clean so that you feel comfortable walking around bare foot-- everybody's feet and shoes are hosed off after every excursion. The hot tub was also a very lovely amenity. Food was plentiful and fresh, and we were never served the same meal twice. The staff and crew were courteous and helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we all had a great time and were taken care of. I had very high expectations, but they were far exceeded by Quasar. I cannot recommend their Galapagos cruise enough.

What an amazing adventure I had with my sister in the Galapagos Islands through Quasar Expeditions. Everything we had hoped for and more. Started with a fun adventure in Quito and then continued starting in San Cristobal Island with Quasar. We were on the Evolution, a beautiful ship (32-passengers). The staff was absolutely incredible - fun, friendly, helpful, accommodating. The ship is beautiful - the rooms are spacious and modern and there are lots of places to hang out on the boat, including the hot tub at the front of the boat and the bar lounge outside. The food was delicious and there was a lot of variety. The guides are so incredibly knowledgeable - we didn't just see things, we learned so much. I was so tired at the end of each day from all the great excursions - hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, more hiking. We also had great passengers on the trip who were easy to get along with and fun. One of the best parts of this trip was the small number of total passengers on the boat, which allowed us to be more free to explore. One day while eating lunch outside on the back of the ship, someone saw some dolphins - our guides told us to leave our lunch and jump in the pangas (small dinghys) and we were off, riding alongside what turned out to be a pod of hundreds (maybe even a thousand) dolphins. It was incredible. The entire trip was incredible and we would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of traveling to the Galapagos!

Our recent trip to the Galapagos aboard the Evolution far exceeded our expectations. From the initial contact to the final leg of transportation home the staff of Quasar executed flawlessly. The Galapagos Islands are a very special place. Traveling the 450 nautical miles aboard the ship is definitely the best way to see as much wildlife and scenery as possible. The naturalists are very knowledgeable and their love and pride of their homeland was evident throughout the trip. The crew attended to every detail and went above and beyond in every aspect. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime and a must do if you have ever had even the slightest interest in exploring this part of our world. Thank you Quasar!

We have just returned from a trip to Quito, La Selva Lodge and the Galapagos from November 30th to Dec 16th. We had the trip of a lifetime. We, unfortunately, cannot provide the names of all the people we interacted with in Quito. From the gentlemen who picked us up and took us back to the airport on numerous occasions to the lady who took us on a very informative four-hour walking tour of old Quito, and to the staff of the Casa Gangotena. The trip to La Selva Eco Lodge at the headwaters of the Amazon River was incredible and our guides Edwin and Henry worked hard to make it unforgettable. They allowed us time to take photos and imparted an incredible amount of knowledge about the area, the birds, other animals and mammals. The piranha fishing was a once in a lifetime thrill. The lodge itself is wonderful and the whole experience was better than anything we had anticipated. Once we returned to Quito, the staff at the Casa Gangotena went out of their way to have our laundry done before we left the next day for the Galapagos. The hotel itself is lovely. On our arrival at the Island of Baltra we were met by our guides from the M/Y Grace, Alex and Carolina. These two are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate people. The crew of the Grace were wonderful, I don’t remember all their names, but all should be told that they made our trip and have made us want to return to do the south west itinerary. Joseph, the manager, was well organized and made the trip seamless, Julio, the barkeep among all other jobs, seemed tireless, the chef created amazing dishes, Freddie and Pablo, the drivers of the boats to the Islands, were very skilled and the Captain who never seemed to sleep was obviously firmly in charge of all. The ship itself is lovely. Our heartfelt thanks to the company and all of the staff for this unforgettable experience.

Trip to Galapagos with Quasar was 5 star, most excellent! Everyone was professional from the room stewards to the dining staff and chef, and especially the naturalist guides. The daily excursions were well done, and varied, and well led. Our guides were so enthusiastic about the islands, their history, and their future. We thoroughly enjoyed every single day.

Quasar Expedition staff were attentive and really helpful in organising my trip to the Atacama Desert. They suggested I stay at the Alto Atacama Lodge which was a wonderful choice. I had a brilliant trip!

I would recommend this trip the staff on the boat was so attentive and accommodating. Everything I wanted to see we saw and Ralfa the guide got to know each individual personally and made the experience even better. He gave us pointers on picture taking and capturing the best moments as well as ensuring we understood the geology and evolution.

Talk about amazing. Every trip tends to have a hiccup or 2 but Quasar did everything right, any chance they had to make this a 5-star experience they excelled at. I would use them again over and over again.

Incredible! You will not regret taking the M/V Evolution to the Galapagos (unless you hate birds, amazing sealife, and the outdoors in general). The itinerary is very well organized to maximize your time in the National Park and the Naturalists on board are extremely knowledgeable. This is not your average cruise experience, this is an intimate exploration into one of the most unique places in the world. Tip: forget trying to protect with sunscreen on the equator, no amount will do- just cover up!

W really put pressure on the Quasar resources when we booked our expedition and flights less that a week before the big trip. The Schicke's looked after everything with pleasant calm and smart efficiency. I was amazed that not a t was left uncrossed! We were met at the Quito, Ecuador Airport by a courteous and informative guide and taken directly to our luxurious lodgings at Cultura Manor where the owner, Lazlo is a consummate host. Treated to private dinners, driven for a night out at Peppas for live music and Ecuadorian food, walking distance to the local market and a journey to the center of the world filled four days in clean and friendly Quito. Even completely novice travellers can relax when given the care that we had. Flights to Galapagos were short and easy. "The Evolution", our beautiful 200 foot ship was the epitome of luxury and service. Top drawer in every way. The food was to die for both in Quito and on the ship as Ecuador has an immense bounty of fruits, vegs, meats and seafood all produced locally. Our excursions on land and water were delightful and memorable. Both guides created a passionate and knowledgeable experience. The snorkelling was my favourite activity and while the seas were not always crystal clear I achieved my dream of swimming with hammerheads and penguins. My adrenaline pumps and my knees go mushy just thinking of it!!! I would recommend this trip for anyone who is mobile. I would also do the same trip again … and again … and again!

Our trip to the Galapagos (San Cristobal to Baltra/Santa Cruz) was excellent in every way. The ship and the accommodations were comfortable and quite nice. Room with private bath was spacious and well appointed. The excursions and briefings were amazing, in part, because of where we were, but especially because the guides themselves were incredible. Their knowledge and ability to communicate information was top notch; both guides were also kind, caring and entertaining. The ship's crew could not have been more attentive and supportive of all our needs. Food service was excellent. There was an interesting variety of items - all tastefully prepared. The entire staff and crew made everything seamless, safe, and pleasant. I appreciated the tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes work they performed, e.g.,sailing from point to point, wonderful meals, taking care of our snorkeling gear, cleaning cabins, etc. The small ship size and the personal attention sets Quasar apart from the larger operators. It was a pleasure to make friends with all participants and to enjoy every activity with a small group.--Toni

We have just returned from a Jeep Overland Safari to Patagonia in Chile and Argentina organized by Quasar Expeditions. We did the self guided trip as we wanted the independence, but Quasar took away all the worry of the logistics which left us free to really enjoy ourselves. They thought of everything, from safety equipment such as a satellite phone for emergencies to cooler bags stocked with goodies. All hotels, tickets for national parks and excursions, border crossing documents to airport transfers were taken care of. Memorable excursions included a great day at an Estancia, where we went horseback riding to ice trekking on the Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina. We also did a pre-trip add on to the Atacama Desert which was a wonderful start to a magical trip. All the Quasar staff we came into contact with were wonderful, including the staff who we organized the trip with, a big shout out to Tasha Williams who helped create our trip. It is all very customized and Tasha was always available to answer our questions. I would highly recommend using Quasar and I am sure my husband and I will be reminiscing about this holiday for a long time to come.

Having only a week for visiting Patagonia Quasar did a wonderful job. Perfectly organized program and an outstanding guide. Very good information Before the trip. The only stressful situation was tight time Schedule for the flights to Patagonia due to change in flight Schedule by the airline Company. Quasar Expeditions is highly recommended
