Overall: We enjoyed our stay at Villa Rosa very much. The view is so beautiful and peaceful! We made good use of the porch to drink in the view while we were drinking wine! The bedrooms were spacious. The beds were very comfortable. It was great to have your own bathroom. We found it easy to get to other Tuscan towns for day trips. It was convenient to the train for a day trip to Florence. Enjoyed Most: The view was amazing. Also, we so appreciated the quiet! Enjoyed Least: Lighting in some of the bathrooms could have been better. Surrounding Area: We liked being able to walk through the vineyards. It was also very convenient to Montepulciano. Nearby Events or Locales: Sant'Albino was the nearest town. We did not walk in but drove in several times for groceries and dining. Tips or Restaurants: It would be helpful to toss in some garbage bags. We ended up buying some because we soon ran out. We also brought along coffee, wet wipes, some laundry detergent and dishwasher tabs.We went into Sant'Albino to grocery shop. We ate at Tre Stelle which was a fun local family type of place. We also ate at La Casina which was more upscale and very good.We enjoyed dining at Osteria dell'Aquacheta in Montepulciano for a unique dining experience, great steaks, and chatting with other patrons. Osteria del Conte was also very good! Directions: The directions to Montepulciano were good but they became confusing. We did not know when to count the turns in the road, before Montepulciano or after. The GPS would have gotten us there but we called Silvia to confirm and she had us pull over and came to get us. Check In Out: Check in and out were very smooth. No problems.

Overall: Overall it was great. It's a good location and has a beautiful, extra large terrace. Enjoyed Most: The garden was fabulous, with a bounty of vegetables of which we were offered to help ourselves. Enjoyed Least: The ants on the patio. Surrounding Area: The beach, shopping. Nearby Events or Locales: Positano--yes, all within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: I would let everyone know you really need a porter to take your luggage up to the villa; it was 60 Euros.

Overall: The villa was beautiful and very well-maintained. I really enjoyed my experience there. Enjoyed Most: The view and Matteo's delicious cooking. Enjoyed Least: The Internet connection. Surrounding Area: The hiking trails, the water, the food. Nearby Events or Locales: San Siro. Yes. Tips or Restaurants: Ask Matteo to make eggplant parmigiano. YUM!

Overall: We had a fabulous week at Villa Pucci. It's a truly magnificent spot, with beathtaking views all around. Enjoyed Most: The views undoubtedly, the pool area, the pool table. Enjoyed Least: The kitchen was pretty rustic and basic for our needs. Not a great deal of work surface area. Also there was nowhere really to sit inside and relax, the TV room worked well for the kids but no area for adults to chill. Also the lighting in the bedrooms was very poor. Surrounding Area: Certaldo was a beautiful town with all the necessities. The old part of the town was amazing to visit. The position of the villa is equidistant from Florence and Siena which gives it real benefit. Nearby Events or Locales: About a 7 minute drive to Certaldo. Tips or Restaurants: We had a few problems with adaptor plugs as the points in the villa seemed slightly different from the usual European plugs. We found a wonderful restaurant in San Gimignano called Il Muro Vecchia. Bring extra towels for the pool.

Overall: Excellent. The property was plenty large to hold 15 people. We could all be together and yet if someone wanted a little time alone, there was room to be by himself/herself. Enjoyed Most: The swimmming pool area was fantastic. The pool was large, nicely sloped for depth and there were plenty of chairs for everyone. Also, the patio area where we ate everyday - be it lunch or dinner - was huge. We had a table set for 15 and it was a wonderful gathering spot. There was plenty of room elsewhere on the patio for drinks, cards, etc.The dishwasher! It has a 2 1/2 minute cylce. As such, it was very easy to clean up after meals and we always had a clean kitchen. With 15 people the ability to quicky run dishes and keep the process going was huge. Finally the views of Capri were stunning.Oh, please extend our thanks to Pasquale who stopped by every evening to check on us, answer questions and assist with any reservations needed. Enjoyed Least: Personally, I only had one hot shower. Perhaps the hot water only went on at 6:30 am? I felt like I was at camp. The kitchen was difficult to work around - poor layout. However, it was well stocked with the exception of horrendous knives. The washing machine has a TWO HOUR cylce. This inhibited people from getting wash done when we were on the move and someone else already got their wash in at 700 am. Surrounding Area: Beautiful views. The whole settng was very relaxing. Nearby Events or Locales: St Agata is where we ended up doing our grocery shopping. It was a 15 minute drive. The villa is not close to any towns and requires driving. Tips or Restaurants: I'd say bring a good kitchen knife, but that would get you arrested at the airport. The owners kindly provided pool towels so renters do not need to bring those.Something we found out from Pasquale: a liquor store in St Agata will deliver wine and beer. No need to make a run yourself if you can provide directon on your price, white or red, and the type of wine you like. Directions: We did have a GPS, but with all of the twists and turns it often needed to "reset" and as such, was not providing the guidance we needed. Check In Out: We arrived late and they were very gracious about it.

Overall: So much more than we expected! Our villa was an oasis nestled above the old world traditional Greek residential village of Melachiori in the center of the island of Santorini. The three bedrooms and full bathrooms, especially shower structures, were over-sized and very private within the structure of our one home. Three couples and more can easily share this villa. Bathrooms are huge. Kitchen areas are adequate. The outside courtyard and pool area and other nooks and crannies are extensive. The housekeeper daily was necessary due to the Greek plumbing issues as well as general daily pick up. The villagers were so friendly and helpful as we visited their restaurants and stores daily. Lovely setting! Enjoyed Most: The location on the island of Santorini. By car, very accessible to the entire island. The village we stayed in was charming, its locals and their neighborhood which we meandered through in the mornings as we walked to the best bakery up the hill. Enjoyed Least: The abundance of cats that live and roam in the village and visit the villa daily. Also, there were issues in the one bedroom bath area with bath water temperature. Surrounding Area: We loved exploring all of the island. There are great beaches, tourist attractions, the restaurants, the historical sites, the views as we navigated around this windy volcanic island. Nearby Events or Locales: Nothing is within walking distance of the village. Driving is easy. Lots of signs and easily navigated. The islanders are very friendly and helpful. Getting lost was part of the adventure! Tips or Restaurants: The restaurants just below the villa are fabulous, fresh, fun with live music and conversation nightly. I would highly recommend the restaurants at the boating and fishing port. The seafood is fresh out of the water and reasonably priced. Directions: Hire a driver to collect you upon arrival to the airport. Rent your car and follow the map. Getting lost is part of the adventure and then you become so familiar with the island you feel like a native. Check In Out: Jackie from the villa rental agency met us at the door upon arrival and departure from the villa. She made herself available throughout our stay if we needed her assistance in any way. Nothing to it!

Overall: Nice villa. Be careful with ceilings in bedrooms, they are low. Enjoyed Most: Views are most beautiful I have ever seen! Enjoyed Least: Service personnel was not very tactful (came in early and was a bit loud). Surrounding Area: Everything is within walking distance(5-15 min.) if you don't mind walking steep stairs. If you do - take local bus(every 5-10min). Very nice restaurants, bars and shops most with breathtaking views and not very expensive prices. Positano itself is not very crouded with tourists, which we liked very much. You can take the hydrofoil to Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi. Check out the downtown area.

Overall: I would recommend this villa without hesitation. We travelled as a couple with 2 young children and my mother-in-law. Overall we had a very good experience. Enjoyed Most: The view is astonishing, the property is squeaky clean, vast, the owners are nice and available. They left information on activities in and around Positano. We liked the nice wine cellar with 10 euro bottles to buy as needed. This was very practical especially on sunday when many shops closed early. The kitchen was well equipped. Enjoyed Least: We only had one set of towels per person. Although we were told that this was standard, we felt that at this price range, just a few extra-towels in a cupboard in case of need would have been appropriate. Surrounding Area: Capri is a must. It is easy to organize day trips from Positano. We enjoyed driving along the coast. Amalfi is also worth to see, as well as is Pompeii. We did a small road-trip more inland in Agerola and through to Furore. The views were stunning. It is a shame that at this time of year, tastings in wineries were less available than earlier in the season. Nearby Events or Locales: The property is inside Positano. One can walk down to the beach and city center, and you can also take the bus (Positano interno). Tips or Restaurants: Restaurants San Vincenzo and Max proved to be very good and welcoming. If you have small children, don't forget to bring baby carriers, as strollers are not practical in the many stairs in the city (that are worth to be taken). Directions: We used a GPS. The owner contacted us 1 day prior to arrival and gave us clear instructions. Someone was waiting for us when we arrived and led us to the property for check in. There's a flight of stair down to the property so, if possible, try to avoid large and/or heavy suitcases.

Overall: Very quaint, very quiet, very much the Italian experience we had hoped for. Enjoyed Most: The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, making it a joy to cook and eat in. Enjoyed Least: The steep stairs, though with the handrails they were certainly manageable. Surrounding Area: The whole area is picturesque. Cinque Terre was wonderful. Nearby Events or Locales: We did not walk to La Spezia as it was quite a long walk and hilly. Plus it rained a lot. Tips or Restaurants: Clothes dryers in Europe are very slow. Bring clothes that can be washed and hung to dry. Directions: There are lots of peach colored houses and stone walls and we stopped too soon. Check In Out: It went smoothly and Sarah was a delight to work with. She went out of her was to accommodate us. Communication was easy.

Overall: Fantastic villa tucked in the side of a mountain. Quiet and cozy spaces inside and out. Kitchen is long and narrow, but has plenty of counter space to prepare meals. Narrow passage-way of a road to the site. Caretaker Bruno was very accommodating, even with a lack of English. Enjoyed trying to use our limited Spanish to communicate in Italian!! Enjoyed Most: Outside area was wonderful to sit poolside (even in the middle of October). Many loungers and tables to socialize. An unexpected bonus was the cleaning staff that arrived three times within the week. Tidying up and sweeping the tile floors was very much appreciated. Another little something extra that made for a relaxing stay. Enjoyed Least: No clothes dryer, but washers worked well (if slowly). Tough drying clothes when rain and mist was mostly a daily occurrence. Surrounding Area: Nice areas to walk and hike. Road down to Nocchi was steep, but doable. Nice little pizzeria in Nocchi with outstanding customer service and many "extras"- antipasto, bread, limoncello. Nearby Events or Locales: Nocchi was a short, steep walk away. Made the trek 3-4 times in our week at the villa. Tips or Restaurants: Be prepared for the narrow, steep and rough roads. All the little cafes in Camaiore were excellent and very authentic. Friends arranged the personal chef and crew and it was a wonderful way to embrace the Italian culinary scene. Very knowledgeable and fun ladies (3) came all the way from near Florence and found their way to Villa Nocchi in the dark. They put on a six(6) course show- with a part of Giada and a part of Lidia, complete with four bottles of wine and limoncello to top the night off right! Directions: Followed the directions to a T! Great use of local landmarks to assure the travelers that they are on the correct path. Not easy to find, but what an adventure around every corner. Relax and take you time. Check In Out: Bruno was right on time to greet us when we arrived. (He lives just behind the villa in a cluster of three structures.)Very easy getting our full deposit back.

Overall: The villa was in a lovely area in the mountains near Mount Etna and very peaceful indeed! The pool was great and use of the tennis court was a bonus. Alessandro, the owner, made us all feel very welcome, and did everything to help us make the most of our holiday! We enjoyed the wine and olive oil from the estate very much indeed! Enjoyed Most: We loved the outside space and the fact the villa was lovely and cool in the evenings with the breeze. It is a beautiful villa. Surrounding Area: It was lovely scenery, and we also enjoyed a couple of visits to the beach club, kindly arranged by Alessandro. The water was very clear and warm, and a pretty beach bar at the end of the beach was great for lunch. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town was Moio Alcantara and no, not in walking distance Tips or Restaurants: Tennis raquets and balls! Alessandro will advise on restaurants. Check In Out: All fine.

Overall: The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Enjoyed Most: It was in town and close to restaurants and shopping, but quiet and secluded with a wonderful pool. The garden in September was a magnificent blast of color. Enjoyed Least: Nothing really significant, but the beds were harder than we like, and the upstairs shower was hand-held. Surrounding Area: Easy access to all the island of Paros by bus. The bus station was only two or three minutes stroll from the villa. Supermarket was within 100 yards. Nearby Events or Locales: We were in the middle of Naoussa. All easy walking. Tips or Restaurants: The owners recommended Pervolaria, which was excellent. There were numerous good fish restaurants on the waterfront.Very well appointed except for lack of a kettle. We used the microwave for coffee, etc. We were given four small towels for the pool and beach. We just bought two and brought them back with us.

Overall: Our overall experience was positive. Enjoyed Most: The fact that it was out of town and away from the hustle and bustle completely. We also felt completely safe and the villa has awesome windows and doors. Enjoyed Least: The washing machine did not completely work or spin most of the time and the directions and icons on it were difficult to understand. Editor's Note: European washers have very, very long, energy-efficient cycles and generally do not spin the clothes to the extent we are accustomed to with American machines. Be prepared to hang wet clothing to dry! Surrounding Area: Total peace and quiet. Nearby Events or Locales: The answer is no, you have to rent a moped or a vehicle as everything by way of driving is 10 or 15 minutes away. Tips or Restaurants: 10 minutes up the road on the left hand side is a restaurant local to the Greeks, named Taverna Zisis. This is where the locals actually eat. Directions: We took advantage of a taxi meeting us at the airport and bringing us into Rethymno to get our rental car. This was great as we did not have to stress about navigating the mountainous island.

Overall: Very special villa. Location is amazing. Enjoyed Most: Location, outside amenities. Enjoyed Least: When we arrived, the TV wasn't working, there was no internet, the oven blew fuses, one toilet did not work, and one bathroom had a leak. The villa hadn't been rented in some time, so the issues were understandable. The property managers worked very hard to resolve the issues and did their very best. We appreciated the extra effort. It made a huge difference. Surrounding Area: Proximity to neighboring hill towns. Ideal location. Nearby Events or Locales: Monticchiello was a 3 min drive. 15 min walk. Tips or Restaurants: La Porta was great. We went there 3 times! Directions: It would have been helpful to have the name of the crossroad.

Overall: Overall, a beautiful place. Enjoyed Most: The home is beautiful, spacious and well cared for and maintained. The patio and garden are wonderful. Enjoyed Least: Barking dogs. Surrounding Area: Montalcino is a beautiful mountain-top city and the environs are beautiful. We were there during the harvest and did a lot of wine tasting. Siena is nearby. Tips or Restaurants: Many great restaurants with lots of opportunities for wine tasting. Bring ear plugs. Check In Out: The woman who checked us in didn't know a word of english, so it was sign language all the way.

Overall: Very positive. Enjoyed Most: All amenities, furniture and equipment are of top quality and very recent. Enjoyed Least: The house is showing some weather related deterioration. Surrounding Area: It is close to everything. Nearby Events or Locales: You can't walk to any town, because you are on top of a mountan! Tips or Restaurants: Ask the owner to have an additional set of keys, (there was only one set for 8 people... At the outset the restaurants in the old part of Cannes in le Suquet are all very good. Directions: GPS is highly needed since street names are not always clearly present.

Overall: The house is clean and well kept and offers superb views of the surrounding Mediterranean area. It is situated on an elevated piece of property with steep access. It is also situated on a narrow road where it is sometimes not possible to park right in front of the property. Enjoyed Most: The views are breathtaking and the house easily accomodates 6 or even 8 people. Enjoyed Least: The property offers little room for outdoor entertaining and the pool is very small and shallow. Surrounding Area: The nearby city of Menton and the 10 minute walk down the stairs to access the Menton-Garavan train station. The train service gives you easy access to several interesting medieval towns of great interest. Nearby Events or Locales: Menton-Garavan is a 10 min walk down some 200 stone steps. Directions: No GPS, yet easy directions. Check In Out: Excellent, as the caretaker was a most helpful lady.

Overall: Excellent. Our family of 16 helped celebrate our 50th anniversary. Overall experience in this villa and location was great. Enjoyed Most: Spacious and gave sense of privacy to all sections. Kids could roam in safety on secure grounds and still feel they were free of adults. Great, warm, clean pool. View was spectacular. Maid, Maria, was great. Enjoyed Least: Appliances in kitchen were too small and especially refrigerator did not keep food cold enough. Milk and food spoiled very quickly. Ants. Surrounding Area: Area was perfect. Sant'Agata was friendly town with great restaurants. After dinner would drive us back to villa at no charge. Convenient shops, food markets, and bakeries for our needs. Nearby Events or Locales: Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi. perfect to walk around and close enough to Sorrento to enjoy larger city. Tips or Restaurants: We found a great local guide/concierge, Salvatore D'Esposito. He made our trip. Knew area, spoke English, could arrange transportation, boats to Capri, fishing. Made our experiences perfect and stayed with us when asked. From Positano to Rome and at airport for pick up. Directions: Did not rent auto here, only in Tuscany with English GPS. Roads too narrow and parking almost impossible.

Overall: Highly positive experience. Enjoyed Most: The scenery is magnificent, with views of pastoral landscapes in an active winery and a breathtaking panorama of Todi, an Umbrian jewel. The owners are great people, very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed Least: The furniture in the living room is rather sparse, and some of the chairs could be replaced with more comfortable furniture to enhance the experience. However this pales in comparison to the many positives offered by the property. Surrounding Area: We used the property as base for a long series of day trips, ranging from beautiful nearby hill towns to major urban centers like Firenze and Roma. The location was great for trips in all directions. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town, Ponte Rio, is within walking distance, and has small shops and bars. By car, it is even more convenient, a 5 minute drive. Tips or Restaurants: The property provides all the basics, except a clothes dryer. We hung our clothes out to dry after washing. The Antico Forziere restaurant, just 10 minutes away in direction of Perugia, was very nice find, but there are good restaurants all over, to include the Hotel Bramante restaurant in Todi, and the Hotel Cesia restaurant. Directions: We used a GPS. Only initial point of confusion was which entrance of the two to take into the impressive property. After that, all was easy. Check In Out: Proprietors were very helpful.
