Disappointing Still waiting for my refund after starting the process on 7th May 2023! Im always chasing updates, time and time again promised call backs, with no avail. Promised a call back for in the New Year... wheres my update and my refund? This isnt the first time ive used Rift for my rebate, but it will be the last!!!!!

Rift accounting has provided a terrible service. They misinformed me about my tax status despite being provided all the relevant information. There are email records of this. Nettie and Dermot were next level unhelpful and essentially washed their hands of the errors they made that resulted in me having to pay significantly more tax. If I wanted a mess of my taxes then I could have done this myself for free, instead I paid them to make an even bigger mess of it. I am still trying to unravel the mess now with my 2023 tax return. Would avoid this company at all costs

This business is going down the tunes, they've had my self assessments for months, chase you constantly to sign the contract then never get back to you, leave you to do all the chasing up and don't update the portals. Longest I have waited for a return the previous 10 years was max 2 weeks

Been waiting a year and still had nothing. They chased me everyday to sign the contract but then haven't heard from them since unless I email them, which I do regularly asking for an update, they are then very slow to reply. They don't care once you've signed the contract. Wouldn't recommend these, I will use a different company next time or do it myself.

Waste of time. They called me saying they gonna remove my claim from their system, as I work particulalry in one building. Senseless🤔

It's all a waste of time I started a claim with rift gave all documents to them they made fake promises after a month on my claim they decide to call me and cancel my claim what a time waste

How do you leave RIFT? How can you stop them acting as your agent? All they have done is taken any tax rebates I have had in full for the last 3 years and have not been any help whatsoever! Please help. Thanks

The service rift says it can assist with has been terrible. it started with filling all my information out over the phone then a month later i was contacted via email to verify the information was correct, to my surprise everything was wrong in what the asked in the email, so i've emailed rift twice with all the correct information to make sure they received my correct information, then waited 3 weeks no response. i've telephoned numerous times with the line saying busy so decided to login to my rift account out of curiosity & to my surprise nothing had changed, all the information on the form was all wrong, i've had to correct everything myself on the form. this is not the service i want to pay 30% of my refund to.

My experience with Rift was long and unpleasant. Every step I took to making a claim, the less I was estimated. I was estimated around £500 in the beginning, then to be credited under £20. If you're thinking of using Rift, I'd get them to fill out all the paperwork and when you go to sign it, just download 'https://www.gov.uk/self-assessment-forms-and-helpsheets' and copy across the same information to do it yourself. Save you time and money!

Would not use again terrible waited 5 months nearly with little contact from them had to keep chasing them up in the end I contacted Hmrc myself and delt with them persannily now they have sent me an email saying they havnt received a payment from me and they will be sending debt collectors round in 7 days if no contact is made. But I havnt received anything from rift saying we need money from me and + I went through hmrc by myself in the end apsolute joke do not advice to use rift at all

A lot of problems during my experience with this accountant. Poor comunication: sometimes I waited weeks for an answer or I have being totally ignored. Also if some task are included on the contract I had with them they asked for extra money. Be always sure you red and understand the contract because they try shameless to ask for extra, always. They ignored mi instructions (change the address from RIFT office to my house) to keep the control of communication also after I ended with them and then they lost a letter from HMRC and left me on troubles. The quotation they give me for tax return (I am not trading at all on the last year) and close my LTD was £500. They are a waste of time and money. 04/06/18 I have been contacted from Rift to discuss the communication problem we had and they are trying to sort out all the outstanding items. I appreciated that.

RIFT! Seemed really quick, very helpful until claim is made, they were not really helpful during claim is on process, they did not actually inform me what is going on! I had to keep chasing for information. As soon as HMRC finalise the decisions to refund the tax back to RIFT account ( as a legal agent) and sends out the confirmation letter of tax refund, which is a clear cut process but RIFT never inform me about my refund is going to be made via cheque or direct deposit. After I received a letter from HMRC I called RFT to ask them about the money I entitled to. RIFT said it can takes up to 10 working days but it still not arrived yet! They could not answer me the alternative plans to satisfy my entitlement. It is more than 10 working days now. I am on my way to legal path. Not acceptable!!!!

Thank you for providing the feedback and I am sorry to hear you are unhappy Niraj. Once a claim is completed we normally have a bit of a wait and if we are unable to speak with our client on the phone then these timescales are on the documents we send to our clients. You would then only hear from us once the refund arrives or if there is a delay on the refund. The documents we send also clearly state ''We cannot submit your tax refund to HMRC until you reply. If you wish to be paid by bank transfer please contact us'' if you do not then contact us a cheque is automatically issued and this is what happened in your situation. Once the refund arrived we sent you a text to advise your payment was on it's way. My colleague would have advised that if you do not receive the cheque within 10 working days (excludes Sat, Sun & 2 bank hols recently) we would then assume the cheque was lost and be able to cancel without charging any administration fee. I hope this has provided some further clarity for you, but I will also contact you to discuss .

Was told I had a tax refund signed papers and waited then a call to say I was not entitled don’t know how they got the information if I was not entitled to any refund

Took a fee even though my refund from HMRC was £0 and charged me VAT . SAID they had still done the work but my previous employer from 3 years ago had underpaid my tax so from one year there was no refund but they took the fee out of my claim over 3 years so down nearly £330

Thank you for providing us with feedback and I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy. We charge a fee per tax year we complete and VAT has to be charged as standard. We would have charged a fee if we completed a tax return for you. I can only assume that there was a liability for that year and that is why you did not receive a refund from us. Although i was happy to receive money that i never knew i was entitled to. I received half the amount of a fellow coworker. And almost ×3 the amount of cash deducted from my claim than his. His £100 deducted over £1200. And mine was £280 over £1000 per year even though my expenses were £4900 compared to his £2900. Although "RIFT" says it is correct i feel there is something wrong here but accepted the offer as they wern't able to change it. Therefor i give 3 stars. If i was considered the same way as my friends deduction i would have gave 5 stars. But thanks anyway i never knew i was due some tax back so you have helped me out. Not sure wheather to try claim on my own next year or use rift but i think i will try on my own first. Thanks again

Charges are far too much, nearly £500? Will not be using again as I have got the same service for less than £100. They got my claim wrong in the first instance, which delayed my claim. Not the best at all.

Hi Peter, thank you for your review. I am sorry you are unhappy with the refund received. We can only claim what you are entitled to on the information you provide to us.
