“My husband was very happy with the box. The first arrived in time for his birthday. Slowly savouring each treat. Only complaint was that the booklet made it seem chop sticks were included, but were not in the box. Not entirely sure where they would have put them! Very full box.”
“I bought this subscription for my Japanese mom who came to America 60 years ago and has only been back once. These snacks, teas and souvenirs are such a treat for her and they take her right back to her childhood. Great quality items, thoughtful choices and booklets!”
“I love the Tsukimi Vibes very much .. specially its japanese folktale " the rabbit on the moon"
The items i loved the most :
Peanut Arare : nice salty, crunchy with a strong nut aroma .. lovely
Usagi Marshmallow : kawaii.. too pretty to eat .. sweet, soft and chewy
Chocolate Cream Danish : rich in chocolate i loved it so much
Black Sesame Mochi : the one i love the most .. mochi is the sweetest thing I've ever experienced in my whole life
Peach Jelly : i loved the Tsukimi design.. and the delicious peach flavour”
“The packaging and quality of the contents are unbelievable. I love how it comes with a booklet explaining each snack. I received my first one today and look forward to more from this company!
Highly recommend.”
“We have received our second box and I am blown away by how exquisite the boxes are! This subscription has been full of surprises and it’s always exciting to open the boxes. It is well-thought out, beautifully packaged experience!”
“This lovely gift was given to my husband for his birthday by his sister. We had so much fun going through the box and experiencing all Japan has to offer. What a wonderful idea. Our grandson got into the action as well.”
“The October box had a wide variety of treats and the ceramic plate this month was adorable! The hard candy was different than what I had imagined since the flavor profile from the taste of sugar/flavoring was much different than what I'm used to in the US. It was unique and popped my narrowed mind out of NA for a while. Who would've thought even hard candies were that different?”
“I received the Autumn themed box for my birthday. I immediately felt like there was something premium about the gift. I had to rescue it from outside as it was cold and previously wet weather... I brought it inside immediately. Once on my table I noticed the warm Ochre reds and beaming yellowing leaves surrounding a golden inlaid pagoda. Further embossed gold leaf blossoms and petals fell daintily by its side. On the lip of the box I spotted the words In Partnership with Kyoto Prefectural Government printed above presumably the Kanji for the same. Carefully, tenderly, I dealt with the seal on the lid, the seal itself baring the words "CAREFULLY CRAFTED IN JAPAN".
I had no idea what was inside.
I opened the box in characteristic slow fashion. A beautiful booklet spanning slightly less the square of the box faced me. "KYOTO'S CRIMSON LEAVES".
I started to set it to one side to nestle with it later and boy! did my eyes see a feast of delights!!
Before me were all sorts of packets of different sizes and formats too many to count! - I immediately recognised that they looked like Snacks from Japan! Overjoyed I rustled through and picked out snack by snack setting each on the table. At the bottom, little did I know, was the best part! For inside an inconspicuous small beige box, I found a ceramic bowl that will surely bring joy to my house for years to come. I enjoy the snacks from night to night on these brief Autumnal days. Thank you Sakuraco!🥰”
“Really enjoy my box each month. Love the booklet that describes the treats. Helps me track down my favourites kinds at local Asian grocery stores. And the “sweets” always make the perfect little treat when I serve tea to friends at home.”
“Sakurako always delivers excellent quality foods with an insightful, educational cultural context. The packaging ensures even delicate sweets arrive intact in nearly all cases (in two years of boxes, only a few very thin, extremely delicate cookies have arrived broken), and no bread/pastry items have arrived mashed).
The customer service is excellent, the housewares are always useful and high quality, and we love the wood block print art cards with each box that are excellent quality.
We tried another popular brand of J snack box before SakuraCo, but found Sakuraco ships many more non-export local products, and is more ethical. (We found misleading and inaccurate information on the competitor website about Sakuraco - if you have a good product, you don’t need to try to mislead people about your competitor to keep their business.)
My husband is Japanese, and we have Japanese food markets in our community. Yet for the number of times in the past two years he’s said, “Oh wow - I remember these!” with total joy, the price is more than worth it!”
“Such a wonderful surprise! Box was filled to bursting with incredible, high quality goodies. I highly recommend this as a gift or simply something to look forward to each month yourself!”
“Our box was a sumptuous exploration of autumnal themes. We enjoyed it in the surroundings of the local Japanese garden. Each step of the experience seemed to elevate our mood and satisfaction, with an intoxicating variety of flavours and textures. There was even a complimentary ceramic bowl. Some of the items were broken, but many of them were naturally brittle and difficult to protect in transit. We managed to remember to bring hot water for the tea (supplied in teabags), which was a crucial element to the experience. The amount of plastic packaging was excessive but the presentation was very impressive - both typical of the Japanese way. In summary, a wonderful experience to share with someone you appreciate.”
“Three months in and I this box has become a highlight to anticipate. Each box highlights a specific region or festival, complete with a vibrant full color guide and some surprise crafted goods in addition to the food. As you might expect, some of the foods were great and others weren't for me, but the spirit of exploration of a new culture shines in either scenario. A fun date night(s) activity.”
“Products are fine and as expected.
We received minor brittles in some candy during transportation.
In general we were not satisfied of the product for the price paid and decided not to continue.
Sakuraco though charged us ahead of time for renewal, we cancelled, but they refused us a refund, even though they have not yet processed or shipped anything.
They accepted the cancellation but they can only offer credit for a future purchase (any kind of purchase) from their store.
If we knew that they run such kind of a business we would never have tried them.
We cannot imagine what their response we would have been if something went wrong with the boxes…
It is only now that we realized we are not alone with this cancellation but no refund policy of theirs that leaves a bad taste unfortunately.”
