I was treaded like shit by staff. Even though I paid months in advance. They revoked a lease that was never signed because she failed to do her job! DONT STORE YOUR STUFF HERE! Ballard location.

Spam call and text. 150% of local market for a storage unit. Do not recommend.

Everything was fine until my recent monthly payment got lost in the mail. The robot was patient in waiting for it to come, but it never did. I then was told by said robot that I would be charged late fees and other fees. I don't have a phone number for them so I went to their office yesterday, Sunday. Sign on the door said office hours for Sunday 11-4. It was nearly eleven so I waited. We are having very hot weather here so waiting was bad. No one ever came to the office. The heat was too much so I had to leave. Later, about 3:00PM I used an email they had sent me and replied asking how much I owed. I want to send them a check to cover the usual cost and late fees. No reply. so far today. If I don't hear from them by 5:00 today I will send a check with only the monthly rental fee. And it will go reply requested so I will be sure it gets to them. It's like talking to a brick wall or a robot. I've never had to deal with a real person. If there are any there. When I was there yesterday the office looked like a disaster.

The company has treated me terribly. They broke into our two storage units and then moved our things without our permission, breaking a number of our things. They did not have permission to do any of this. The only people I have been able to talk to are the customer service people, and they can not make any decisions. It's just an awful place run by awful people. They get a negative 100 on everything. The manager is a woman and will not return a call, and the people who work there are so scared of her that they refuse to provide her name. The top management refuses to take any calls, and you must have a unique password to call corporate. They never called me back, so I had to call them. The company blocked me from paying online. When I told them that this is what happened, they said the manager would have to call. She never called, and then she charged me a late fee, even though I attempted to pay but could not. I want a refund of the late charge because they blocked me and did not call me back to deal with this. This is all Secure Space's fault!

This company is pure sleaze. We rented a unit as one of their first ever customers in the brand new facility with a rate of $289 a month with 50% off for the first two months. After comparing prices, we made the decision to rent a unit here based on the new appearance (new building), location, and rates. The company insisted we put the account on autopay as they threatened to slap a lock on our unit if we were even a day late on rent, so we obliged. That's where the problems began. A few months after we moved in, we opened the door to our unit on a hot summer day and found tons of jackets, clothes, suitcases, etc. covered in mold. We investigated the hallways and found water dripping from the a/c ducts and pooling up on the floor. We then went to the office to complain about the issue and were told that it was not the company's problem because we had not taken their in-house insurance. Fine. So, we went to our own insurance company and made the claim and they covered everything, but no attempt was made by SecureSpace to remedy the problem or offer us some sort of discounted rent for the massive inconvenience caused. This was particularly shocking given that it was directly caused by their faulty HVAC system regardless of who paid the claim. You see, rather than try to remedy the problem, SecureSpace decided to "fix" my concerns by raising our rent 20.7% without any notice. Thanks to their convenient pressuring for us to join autopay, they were able to just start charging our account more money without us noticing. Now the rent being charged was $349/month and we had yet to physically be in the unit for even 6 months! This is basically entrapment, as they watch you hire a moving truck to move literally thousands of pounds of stuff into the unit and know it is not easy for you to move out or do anything about it. The audacity of the greed is beyond words. Only when reviewing bank records for taxes do we notice a few months later that this has been happening. So we called corporate customer service to address this and were connected to a foreign call center where no one could understand what we were saying, no supervisor was available, and were told to contact the local store. When contacting the store, we were told we had to put our concerns in writing, so we did. In our letter, we specifically addressed how we felt cheated, lied to, and that the company was acting solely in the interest of profits with no concern for it's customers' budgets or the advertising/promises made. We were told the company does not increase rent often, but that was a lie. They seem to do it every couple of months and by enormous amounts. We specifically addressed how this felt like we were being needlessly squeezed so some district manager could high five his VP on a corporate earnings report and nothing more. In fact, I can confirm throughout these ordeals that the local staff are kind, friendly people who genuinely want to help as best they can but their hands are tied by the greed of their corporate backers, who are really nothing more than a California-based tech company with a small number of employees who are focused entirely on profits with little concern to the real people they rent to. We even went to them before writing this review to plead a final time for a reality check on their sleazy behavior but were told quite literally, "no, we don't care." It seems we were not alone here either. After our ordeals and deciding that something was truly morally bankrupt with SecureSpace as a company, we began researching alternative storage facilities in the area and quickly discovered more than one other company who recalled tales from other former SecureSpace renters who had experienced the same sort of predatory rent increases that we had, as well as folks who had experienced rodents coming in to their external units. Clearly, a pattern began to emerge. SecureSpace seems to be a tech company that operates like a rob-o-landlord. They neither properly design nor build their facilities correctly. They do not care when you have problems when renting from them. They do not care when they raise your rent by 20.7% in less than 6 months without notice AND when you call them out on it, they say because you didn't notice fast enough it's justified and fair. Simply put, they don't care about you. They care about profits. Let that sink in before you make the mistake of renting from them. I know I never will ever again and I hope to warn others of the same. With all of our efforts, this company can go out of business and the world will be a better place for it. Behind the shiny new building is a world of problems and a corporate-level management team that views customers like numbers to be exploited. Don't say I didn't warn you- THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT THE PLACE FOR LONG-TERM RENTING!

First let me start with the location on huff street. Typical bait you in with a great price then 3 months down the road they they hike your bill up. I won't take that shady ethic so I moved out. The only thing even promising for this site is the 2 people that work there,,I don't hold anything against them they were very pleasant. But they lost who could have been a good client because of the greed. Next comes the location off 2700 Imperial Highway. This site can kiss my a**! I currently lived in Oceanside and was in a bind because my home lease was up and the owner wanted to sell so I decided to move back to Orange County. I had not found a place yet so I decided to just start putting stuff in storage so I could get an early start (I used to do a-lot of reselling of merchandise and still have quite a bit of inventory). Well the yard hours I guess are until 10 PM and on one of the days I ran into some personal issues and though I moved as fast as I could I wasn't going to leave my door open with much of my property still in the hallway and the unit door open. Especially since I live in Oceanside and then be back there at 6 am or whatever time they open to put my things in unit before them or whatever clients could shop through my things before I could get there and put it into the unit. Anyway, I get a message that they no longer want to renew my lease and to vacate in a week. You know sometimes things in life happen that are unavoidable or unforeseeable that you can't predict and if I would have been asked the reason for my 10:15 PM exit any person with half a brain would have been more than understanding of the issue I encountered that caused me to arrive later in the evening to unload my possessions. That's how they want to play then so be it, I'm in the process now of moving my stuff to a Extra Space location, it's strange because these folks at the new location allow me to pay in advance so I can hold my rate for X amount of months and the rate was even cheaper than any rate they could give. Never again will I make the mistake of doing any sort of business with any entity of SecureSpace because like I originally stated, these clowns can kiss my a**!!!!

This place literally took a payment from me on Friday then sent me a bill on Monday after I paid them saying I owe more money. Avoid this place at all cost .

Bait and switch advertising. If you "reserve" a price on the Internet and go down a couple of hours later to do the paperwork do not be surprised to find that your supposed reserved unit is not available. I am sure they have CYAed their fannies in the small print. The practice may not be illegal, but it is unethical.

First off, they falsified my information. Then any time I tried to update, or contact, I was met with rude, short answers and tone. Did not receive one call, and also signed me up for a payment I did not agree to. BE CAREFUL, these people are total scam artists. Will only send emails with cryptic lettering making it very hard to decipher, and then throw a lien at you. If you’re are going to sign up here, first off, RUN. Secondly, bring a lawyer. Good luck!

Terrible employee!!! The one( short /dark haired/half Indian or something like that ) girl , is very disrespectful and unprofessional. Besides the disgusting phonecalls she made to my husband asking him not to bring me there with him! Lol I was sitting right next to him and we both just laughed it off but seriously someone get that poor girl some psychiatric help! P.S so I come to find out that she had been stealing people's stuff from their units ,that's verified information that didn't only come through our experience with her but also 4 other people ,(that I know of) that have left that place because of the exact same disrespectful behavior and theft from within the facility , and to my knowledge there's another employee there that was helping her . Stay away from that hell hole unless you want to get cleaned out .

Horrible Management team at the Spring Valley Office. I had storage there for a year and and I had a family's member get real sick and passed from Covid. I was late 2 months told them what I was dealing with. went to pay when I told them and they added an extra $100.00 auction fee that I dont get back even when I pay my account to date. They didn't tell me about this charge till I went to pay. I would suggest using the storage next to them and not them.
