Disappointing. Difficult to put up. Poles awkward, we had to buy a replacement for one which broke. Needs sizeable level pitch. Have not used it as much as we had anticipated. Great idea but not the ideal campervan extension we'd hoped for.

Need to practice putting it up a few times before you get to a site, practice required to get poles into place. Good once up and gives you flexible space.

I really liked the idea of the shelta pod but I returned it as it simply does stand up to slight British weather. I Also did not find it easy, rather unenjoyable to put up. If you could guarantee every time I went camping there was no wind or any rain at all then maybe I would have kept it. I purchased two of the sheltapods, one for a friend. He had the same view as myself but he decided to keep it as one that stays on the van for the odd days we do at summer. I believe the shelter pod has been updated since I had mine and they have listened to purchasers, to rectify problems. I can’t comment on the updated pods but I hope they are more stable now as I think the idea is great and I wish them the best.

Love the concept, not the easiest to put up but once it is up I love it, one bug bear is that the metal poles seem to take shape of the curvature and stay curved, this could be rectified by using fibreglass poles, already had a free set sent but had to return faulty ones first! still have curved poles but cant be assed with your process to end up in the same scenario.

zips too flimsy and does not hold up well to the weather so not much cop for us on British camping trips. Wasted my money. I did report this feedback at the time but heard nothing back which I thought was very disappointing for a small company.

Takes quite a deal of time to set up. The system works well in anything but wind, but the bag is very large with all the components. The biggest disappointment is the bag itself, which has already been shredded, and replaced with a higher quality canvas. Honestly on a $400 tent they should be able to figure out a decent bag to stuff it in.

The poles, no matter which way fitted, left the whole thing sitting lopsided; the tent appeared to have been stitched lopsided. We used the sheltapod twice. The first time, no wind, and other than lopsided, it was ok. The second time out, Pembrokeshire, a little wind - not gales - and the whole thing flapped around madly, even after we moved our truck and resited it - twice! At 3am we gave up and took it down - no one else on the site had any problems. It was very unsatisfactory, so we sold it when we came back from Wales.

Hi Jon, we're very sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience with SheltaPod. If there was a manufacturing fault with the stitching and we had known at the time, we would have been able to offer you an exchange.

This looks fantastic and is a fantastic idea, but we had issues from the start with broken poles and ripped peg loops. We took it with out VW in summer 2018 to CampBestival, the weather was horrendous but the awning leaked constantly through the seams and every morning we was left with a soggy sleeping bag.

I have a high top Transit van and it is almost impossible to put up the SheltaPod on any kind of windy weather single handed. I had to fashion a new bracket to solve the problem.

Hi Theresa, sorry to hear you had difficulties with set up. It sounds like you have found a solution now so hopefully you are able to enjoy the SheltaPod and use it to its full potential.

Awkward to set up with two, very difficult with one. Floor strap broke after only two uses and company wouldn't repair or replace. Inner tent suspension system takes up way too much of the tents volume.

not happy, took much longer to erect than stated, the description at the time was ambiguous about attaching it to a vehicle in as much as it gave the impression that only for the drive away facility did one need to purchase the kador strip. sold it after one use.

We're sorry that you were not happy with your purchase. A kador strip is necessary for driveaway set up and/or if your C Channel is a different size to the 6mm beading of the SheltaPod, in which case a kador conversion strip is required. Thanks for the feedback, we will check for clarity on the website.

spend alot on time looking at the mine field of different options on the market. your product seemed the best to fit what we were looking for. watched all the info videos. but when it came to using it a different story. its is a two person job to put. wher you youtube vids only use one person.(and before you think it i have been putting tents up for 30 years. for the force ten vangos to high north face mountain tents). the loop system is hard to get set evenly, where as the extra side panels offer no extra protection form wind or rain from the sides. we tried to use it as a stand alone options with no success at all. to summarise we made the wrong decison buying this and should have opted for a much more robust awning.

The shelter leaks very badly along the the section that you insert into the awning rail. Very disappointed with the quality, this meant that we couldn't leave the door open or a jar as the water dripped into the van from the join between the black webbing and the material of the sheltapod.

Oh where to start.... Its such a shame... this product had all the potential to be exactly what I needed, something quick and simple to put up and drive away from if needed but I was so disappointed by not only the item quality but also the "Shelta Pod team". Firstly, if you dont want the full shelta pod tent (I.e not the inner piece) - I didnt because I wanted it as an awning not a sleeping area - then you have to buy ALL the components separately... down to the poles, the tent itself, a front door panel, poles for the canopy and guys and ropes. This is is extremely inconvenient and things you thought would logically be included were not which inevitably meant that some bits were missed on ordering. Charging £20.00 for shipping also felt very expensive but I decided to let that go. But when the tent arrived it arrived in what can only be described as "shoved" in a cardboard box, not even folded, no bag to contain the tent no instructions and NO poles or guy ropes to put the thing up!! On querying with the company they said they sent items separately which seems such a crazy way to work, why not combine the items to send together as I cannot use the tent without the poles and ropes! All in all I had three separate parcels come on different days by different couriers and when I finally received the items to construct the tent i saw that I had been sent a tent that looked to me as though it was not a new item (the invoice even stated PRE-LOVED). I raised all of these concerns to the team and whilst their initial response promised a "satisfactory outcome" they were not forthcoming with accepting any accountability. It felt very much like they didn't care. I ended up returning the whole thing only for them still to charge me for shipping. They sent me an invoice saying the tent cost £75 not the £200 that I was charged ( I suspect I was accidentally sent something with an internal cost price on) but I was fed some nonsense about this being the price for a replacement tent for existing customers - which in itself was a worry since why would they need to replace it if it was a quality product. - Which leads me to the next point, the material was paper thin, even saw some other reviews afterwards about poles slicing through the fabric with barely any force, poles snapping and tears/rips that you really do not expect from a product that costs more than a 6 man tent! In honestly I think the £75 was a more realistic price for the quality of material. Sadly there was complete disregard for the inconvenience they caused or any response to my suggestions to avoid the issues in the future and lack of accountability for providing incorrect information, delay and complete shambles of a delivery and sending me a used item trying to convince me it was new and these were all just errors in their system/warehouse labelling. I was approached by one of the 'team' to ask if they could come to my house to collect the items to take them away and then replace but I really felt uncomfortable with this suggestion! Not only that, I was away myself in the middle of half term with my kids... they then suggested I was being awkward by not being able to allow this. Overall a REALLY frustrating experience, this company and its team have a lot to work on here. If you are interested in this item please don't be swayed by the blurb on the website or company created You tube videos and read a few of the reviews here... ONE FINAL NOTE on their website they state no refunds or returns which by LAW they cannot do!! Distance Selling applies. I would say don't waste you money, time or sanity on this company. A real shame as their concept is great, they need to work on the issues raised.

Faulty product. For one fault we were given a small discount and asked to arrange the fix ourselves. Poor customer service (no response) when contacting them about the second product fault.
