“Nice product, as described on website with attractive oak. A few gripes though - the brackets and screws were decent but the brackets were needlessly fiddly to install because each has two bolts which need adjusting at each end and seem to come loose too easily. These need to be designed better or just welded to a fixed position. It would have saved time if the oak rail had been pre-drilled with holes for the screws. Finally, the wall plugs included were low quality so use your own branded ones when putting this up.”

Hi Huw, We take all reviews very seriously. Firstly I hope I can explain a couple of things. 1. The brackets are designed in a way to allow a little bit of tolerance when installing. Alot of customers walls are not 100% square so its designed to aid with that. 2. The plugs we supply free of charge are branded ones (the same brand tool station stock). 3. We don't pre drill the wooden rails as every customer wants them in different positions so we can't really please everyone. Again thank you for taking time out to review us. SimpleHandrails.co.uk

“Well designed, good PC finish, but the screw fixings need to be, 50x12 to give a better solid overall secure fixing. Well packed, but my 2.4 length was slightly chipped on the end cap due to the cardboard tube had been bent over about Six inches from one end, other wise it's fixed and does the job intended for perfectly. Any touch up white available please.??? Maurice.”

“The oak handrail is very good. The screws were poor quality and snapped! It would be helpful to have installing instructions. It was tricky putting on the ends centrally. Really pleased with how it looks now it is up.”

“Verry responsive and happy to help. The only little thing I would recommend is to either fix, or remove the area on your order page online where it notes to come back to for updates regarding your order and shipping as it doesn’t work. Still, giving them a ring was straightforward and again they are happy to give feedback so all good.”

“Good quality handrail, I had to fine sand the rail as it was a tad rough to be fitted "out of the box" I would advise getting a better quality screw as a few screw heads snapped off even when pilot holed but overall very pleased”

“Bought a handrail. Emailed for a tracking number and received email response very promptly. When the delivery arrived I realised the bracket size was incorrect. Again sent an email which received a reply saying will receive replacement parts next day delivery. Mistakes do happen. But very good customer service in general. Would definitely use again as well as highly recommend.”

“The Handrail is fitted and it looks good, excellent engineering and finish. The only flaw was the wrong size distance between the bracket holes and the screw holes ( bracket holes 45mm rail holes 41mm ). A small mistake but a big let down for someone unable to correct it. However thank you for your very pleasant service. Thomas Gerrard”

“Really liked the hand rail. Glad we purchased it. Thought the end pieces and the central join could have slipped over the handrail rather than screwing them in. Is there anyway you could have marked or pre drilled the screw holes at the centre of the wood to ensure that the exact centre position is allocated to add the end caps and centre join.”

“Delivery took over a week - arrived on schedule. Contents was good and oak rail and fittings first class. Tricky to drill the centre end of the rail but soon worked out to use the joiner as a template. Looks great and sturdy - very satisfied.”

“Lovely handrails & fittings; very helpful advice on the phone about what to order; most accommodating about delivery times... But... The screws included in the order are ridiculous. The ones for screwing to the wall are too small... they should be 2" tens rather than eights; then we get the same countersunk screws to fit the brackets to the rails; they should be roundheads... or better yet, produce the brackets with countersunk holes & provide shorter & fatter screws. This aspect has not been well thought through.”

“The only reason we didn't vote 'very good' is because our son -in-law,who put it up said he would have found it far easier if you had drilled a hole at the ends of each pole in the exact centre which an accomplished D-I-Yer found difficult to get exactly accurate. Otherwise ordering, delivery and quality of the pole excellent .”
