“I cancelled the subscription because I kept getting spicy meals, I don't like spicy food!!, however this is the second time I cancelled it twice and they still keep sending them.”
“I have just read all these reviews from unhappy customers. I don't see Simply Cook as they do. I have had two boxes so far and they have been excellent. I have just cancelled the subscription because I live alone and do not cook enough to get through a monthly delivery. When I have used what I have already I will certainly order some more.
My only criticism is that the little spice pots ARE difficult to open (especially with arthritic hands) but that is my only complaint.

“Previous posts have baffled me. I have stopped and restarted my subscription to suit my needs. I have never been charged incorrectly. I have spoken to the customer services team without any problem too. I have been using these kits for a number of years and will continue to do so.”
“Another person who found it difficult to cancel. Ended up being charged more. Now getting spammed with emails every few days. Truly awful company. AVOID!!!!!!”
“Yes, this company is scamming people into signing up for a "free trial" with cancellation anytime, they continue to debit my card although I have no access to my online account (it was never set up by them) to cancel. The products are very mediocre at best, prefer to cook from scratch myself, more than worth the effort.”
“Once you give your bank details make it hard to cancel. No phone number to contact so have to have to email only to get no reply. The bank can't stop the payments as it's not a direct debit. Sneaky sneaky tactics”
“This company is a joke like lots of other complaints I have tried to cancel the subscription. With my app on my bank online won't let me do it. I have sent 4 emails regarding cancellation and have not had a reply. I have just had to sit on the phone for half hour so my bank can put a merchant block on the account. Terrible service.”
“Brilliant! Their recipes never fail to disappoint. Just made a recipe and it’s so tasty. I’ve made about 36 recipes now and I’ve only rated one of them as average, the rest were 4snd 5’s. This is a really good way of trying new cusines without having to buy multiple seasoning jars that often go to waste. I fully recommend.”
“Pots difficult to open so used a knife and contents messy. Some salty, some tasteless. Chicken Saag- will stick with Aldis jar and spice mix, less hassle and great taste.”
“I completed an order from look fantastic and as a thank you got offered a “free trial box” from SimplyCook. At no point was it clear I was then signing up to a subscription. They took £11.78 out of my bank and I couldn’t see a direct debit set up on my bank or in my subscriptions, so was unable to cancel it myself.
Once I highlighted it to their customer service they let me know they have cancelled it for me and were apologetic, which was nice.
I’m sure the spices are nice. However, completely deceitful service.”
“I was so disgusted by the fact this company tried to fraudulently set me up into paying for their subscription through a deceptive ‘free trial’ of one box.
I signed up through PureGym. Simply Cook took my debit details, and advertised I would receive a ‘free trail of 1 box’ with NO mention of a subscription service. Once I realised I was misled into paying the £9.99 monthly subscription free, I went to cancel the free trial but they don’t allow you to do this until AFTER the 7 day free trial has ended. By which time they would have already taken full payment from your debit card.
I threatened them via email and said I would make a formal complaint with my bank if they did not cancel my free trail immediately. Why would you not allow a customer to cancel a free trial and make them wait until it has ended and they have been charged the full price before they have the option to cancel!
DISGUSTING. FRAUDULENT AND RIDICULOUS.
This company should be taken of the market. To add insult to injury, the pots are half empty and one of them arrived leaking.”
“I don't understand the bad reviews.
It clear You're subscribing, it's also clear you can cancel any time. It is easy to cancel or pause for a while.
I can only think people don't read properly.
As for the recipes and spices I think they're fine. I've tried a few now. Some I like better than others so I now just order the ones I like as and when. I pause untill I want to order more.
I'd of given 5 stars if they hadn't put the price up.”
“Living by oneself after a bereavement cooking becomes a chore eating same boring meals, yes. lots of chips etc. I have just shared sample box with friend and am delighted Will eat healthier from now on and look forward to còoking.”
“Subscribed without my permission after having the £1 trial box. This is to inform about a debit amount of £11.78 from my bank account. This is a fraudulent act and needs to be reported as there was no permission for a direct debit.
I had never subscribed to any plan or any order commitment. I had once opted for a £1 trial pack. I believe the refund will be made at the earliest, failing to which we would need to report this to the concerned authorities.”
“Subscribed without my permission after having the £1 trial box. It’s taken 3 months to get them to cancel it (they don’t give you an online account so you can’t cancel yourself). They are now ignoring my requests for a refund.”
“I have all the herbs and spices in my kitchen
Only tried it because it was a gift voucher, now they have taken 10 pounds from my account without any notice or any communication. Scam if you ask me. I'm going to see how "SIMPLE" it is to get my refund.”
