Once you give your bank details make it hard to cancel. No phone number to contact so have to have to email only to get no reply. The bank can't stop the payments as it's not a direct debit. Sneaky sneaky tactics

This company is a joke like lots of other complaints I have tried to cancel the subscription. With my app on my bank online won't let me do it. I have sent 4 emails regarding cancellation and have not had a reply. I have just had to sit on the phone for half hour so my bank can put a merchant block on the account. Terrible service.

A complete fraud. I did not order this. I didn't sign up to this, but have been debited £11.78 anyway. I have no idea how to cancel.

Brilliant! Their recipes never fail to disappoint. Just made a recipe and it’s so tasty. I’ve made about 36 recipes now and I’ve only rated one of them as average, the rest were 4snd 5’s. This is a really good way of trying new cusines without having to buy multiple seasoning jars that often go to waste. I fully recommend.

Pots difficult to open so used a knife and contents messy. Some salty, some tasteless. Chicken Saag- will stick with Aldis jar and spice mix, less hassle and great taste.

I completed an order from look fantastic and as a thank you got offered a “free trial box” from SimplyCook. At no point was it clear I was then signing up to a subscription. They took £11.78 out of my bank and I couldn’t see a direct debit set up on my bank or in my subscriptions, so was unable to cancel it myself. Once I highlighted it to their customer service they let me know they have cancelled it for me and were apologetic, which was nice. I’m sure the spices are nice. However, completely deceitful service.

I was so disgusted by the fact this company tried to fraudulently set me up into paying for their subscription through a deceptive ‘free trial’ of one box. I signed up through PureGym. Simply Cook took my debit details, and advertised I would receive a ‘free trail of 1 box’ with NO mention of a subscription service. Once I realised I was misled into paying the £9.99 monthly subscription free, I went to cancel the free trial but they don’t allow you to do this until AFTER the 7 day free trial has ended. By which time they would have already taken full payment from your debit card. I threatened them via email and said I would make a formal complaint with my bank if they did not cancel my free trail immediately. Why would you not allow a customer to cancel a free trial and make them wait until it has ended and they have been charged the full price before they have the option to cancel! DISGUSTING. FRAUDULENT AND RIDICULOUS. This company should be taken of the market. To add insult to injury, the pots are half empty and one of them arrived leaking.

I don't understand the bad reviews the products are fantastic and they make it absolutely clear that you are subscribing when you sign up

I don't understand the bad reviews. It clear You're subscribing, it's also clear you can cancel any time. It is easy to cancel or pause for a while. I can only think people don't read properly. As for the recipes and spices I think they're fine. I've tried a few now. Some I like better than others so I now just order the ones I like as and when. I pause untill I want to order more. I'd of given 5 stars if they hadn't put the price up.

I signed up for the first free box and have now discovered that they have taken another subscription from my bank account. Disgraceful. Do not use.

Nice idea but even one meal in I was aware of too much reliance on unecessary salt in their flavouring

Subscribed without my permission after having the £1 trial box. This is to inform about a debit amount of £11.78 from my bank account. This is a fraudulent act and needs to be reported as there was no permission for a direct debit. I had never subscribed to any plan or any order commitment. I had once opted for a £1 trial pack. I believe the refund will be made at the earliest, failing to which we would need to report this to the concerned authorities.

Subscribed without my permission after having the £1 trial box. It’s taken 3 months to get them to cancel it (they don’t give you an online account so you can’t cancel yourself). They are now ignoring my requests for a refund.

I have all the herbs and spices in my kitchen Only tried it because it was a gift voucher, now they have taken 10 pounds from my account without any notice or any communication. Scam if you ask me. I'm going to see how "SIMPLE" it is to get my refund.

I wish I read the reviews before I ordered the £1 trial. I now think this company is dodgy. They took £1 from both myself and a friend and we’ve never received our orders. Imagine they must be doing this to thousands of people. Imagine the money they’re raking in without shipping our orders. Definitely steer clear of them.

Makes life easier. I am really pleased with the recipes that I have chosen so far. Each and every meal has been very tasty and easy to make. I was sceptical at first to give Simply Cook a try but after tasting a meal my daughter made from the company I was really impressed. It is nice to have a bit of variety and this is one way of changing up recipes and the small pots are just perfect for adding so much flavour. I also like some of the ideas you get and you can use these tips (like adding chipotle sauce to sour cream) for other dishes you make. I would honestly say it is worthwhile and I am glad I decided to do this and am now on to my 3rd week and my husband seems to be enjoying the variety (after 22 years I am sure it is nice to taste different things I make). Everything comes neatly boxed and fits through the letter box. The expiry dates are Feb next year so there is no need to use them straight away if you want to wait before cooking the ingredients. I store mine in the fridge. I also like that you can link the other ingredients you need to Tesco online shopping to make it even more convenient. What is there not to like :-)

Free gift is rubbish. You are really signing up to subscribe. They will send more after free gift and charge. I don’t know if the product is good or not but would never order off anyone who tries to con you.

The current offer of £1 or £3 for a 'free trial' sounds good but it's not transparent. I didn't realise that I was signing into a subscription service until I noticed the 'Set your back up box' instructions at the end of the confirmation email (see pic). When I did realise, I cancelled the subscription service online and emailed a complaint to Simply Cook. They replied saying that as I'd cancelled the subscription service then I wouldn't get the offer box and they'd refund the £3 I paid. So how is this a 'free trial'? It's more a discount against future purchases. I wouldn't describe their practice as a scam, but it is misleading and they really should be up front about what you are buying/signing up for from the outset. If people don't fully read or understand the confirmation email they'll end up paying a monthly subscription for something they hadn't realised they were committing to.
