“I found the exact motor that I needed on the website based on my current engine model number and manufacturer information. I called to verify with the staff that I was ordering the correct replacement. I was transfered to someone who told me "No, you need to order this other model based on the model number I provided them over the phone. I listend to them and ordered what was suggested. When it arrived I found out they were wrong and I had in fact ordered the wrong motor and should have purchased the one I initially called about. Because of the policy requiring me to pay for return shipping, which would have added another $50-$75 of cost I decided to try to use the new motor, only to find out that I needed a custom blade attachment which is not available through either Small Engine Warehouse, or the manufacturer of the motor that I bought. When I called back to get info on why I was advised to purchase this incorrect motor, nobody had any idea how to help, or who and why they would have made an incorrect suggestion. Now $350 later I have a motor with an incorrect blade attachment torqued on and have been told by local repair shops that they will not work on it if I ever have any issues due to the potential liability of having said incorrect blade attachment. The compnay offered no solutions to reurn the motor at their cost or make the situation right by my, the customer. Would definitely not recommend purchasing online through this vendor, as you will get better results buying locally and direct where you can verfiy the correct unit prior to purchase.”
“STILL WAITING ON ENGINE 10 DAYS AFTER ORDERING. WAS TOLD 5 DAYS MAX BY WEARHOUSE PERSONNEL. THIS IS A ONE AND DONE...WILL ASK FOR REFUND IF THIS ENGINE IS NOT IN MY CUSTOMERS HANDS BY 7/2/25.”
“I would give a -stars if I could. I have a factory stock John Deere 445 with a Kawasaki engine and this exhaust no where near fits it. Then to add on top of that they made me pay to send it back because I didn’t verify that an exhaust made for a John Deere 445 would fit a John Deere 445. Trash company and trash experience and horrible customer service.”
“Bouught a 24 hp Kohler motor for a lawn mower. It locked up within an hour of starting it up. Now you guys say I have to go through kohler to try and get engine repaired. I bought the engine from you. I want make the mistake of buying anything else from you! I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST TO FIND A COMPANY THAT BACKS THEIR MERCHANISE.”
“Waited a week to get a bad motor. 25 hp twin cylinder that has only on cylinder running. very disapointed. I installed it and it smokes, spits and spuders. The spark plugs were oil fouled so I replaced them only to conferm my suspisions that only one cylinder is running.”

“I purchased a new 19 hp kawasaki engine for 2200. the engine ran for less than a minute and locked up I was told to return it to be checked, this is the fourth week no one there will return a phone call. I just got a phone call that said its my fault and i am out my 2200. the worst company on Earth. They sold me a bad engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been in the autamotive business for 40 plus years, worked on engines all my life, this is flat wrong I will never stop reminding the world about your company!!!!”
“I purchased this replacement engine for my Gravely a little over three weeks ago, and the initial service was fantastic. Dustin helped me verify that the engine would "plug and play." Last week, after I cut the grass, I noticed the motor had oil leaking from the top, and I immediately contacted them to start a claim. I also sent them pictures of the engine. They said someone would contact me by phone to troubleshoot the issue. Shortly after, I received an email stating they could not tell anything from the pictures and that I needed to take it to a local dealer. I then called back, tried to get help again, and was told someone would reach out. I now have a seized motor, and nobody will help me. Again, it is about 3 weeks old; it should not have an issue, nor should I take it to a dealer who is 6 weeks behind to have it looked at. Something new should get more than an email. Something new, in my opinion, should warrant a replacement being sent out right away and them taking the broken one back. Sadly, customer service has come to this, and nobody cares.”
“on this order your worker gave me the wrong engine.when i called and corrected in less than 2 hours i was told the correct motor would be sent and the wrong one recalled.i receieved the wrong engine anyway and had to pay for return shipping.”
“I ordered an paid for a specific motor for repower, what received was another ,, customer support was.poor. in not knowing their products. Sent me wrong parts when I told them what I needed, I had to machine parts myself to get anything close to working. Support techs not answering phone calls or messages,”
“Is 1 September and John Deere still has not finished the engine replacement in my 445 tractor. They say they are waiting for your instruction on how to get the throttle assembly to connect to the 445 dash. What was supposed to be a 4 hour replacement is now going on month 3. Between you and John Deere there is a real problem - you say you engine replaces the 445 original engine yet John Deere cant get it to work.
From early July,
Received engine timely, delivered to John Deere Watertown NY. The engine is installed but doesn’t fit / align with the 445 tractor assembly. They have been trying to connect with your service people but nobody has responded. Every time they try to reach you, they charge me labor.
Should I just send the motor back? It will not connect.

Dear Thomas, Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback on your recent experience with Small Engine Warehouse. We truly appreciate customers like you who take the time to let us know about their experiences, as it helps us improve our services.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you faced with the engine not fitting or aligning with the 445 tractor assembly. We understand how frustrating this must be for you, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. However, the delay has been due to not receiving the photos necessary for our tech and shop to look over before returning a call to your tech. We did finally receive them yesterday afternoon and our tech and shop are currently looking at them now in order to get back to your tech today.
Regarding whether to send the motor back, we recommend not taking any further action until our service team can review the situation and provide you with the necessary guidance.
“My experience purchasing my replacement motor was great. Thats where the experience definitely changed. I haven’t gotten any response from anyone on helping with the issues I’ve had not being able to get the motor to run correctly since then. I have made countless calls and sent the requested pictures of the motor. But haven’t received an ounce of help and it’s been over a week. I will not suggest anyone uses this company. If you pay $3300 for a replacement lawn mower engine you should get better customer service.”
