Kei and I went to China with her two sisters and had a wonderful time. Smartours were quite complete and provided wonderful guides, hotels and more. The only complaint I had was the requirement that the carry-on had to be no more than 8"x10"x18" as 'required by China'. That was NOT the case and caused me some grief. That said I would certainly use Smartours again. As for me, Kei, the tour was as good or maybe better then I anticipated. Our primary tour guide, Oscar, was very considerate of all our needs, very patient, making sure we understood the protocols and behaviors of the country, as well as well versed in the histories of areas visited. The local guides were equally informative, and I found the Shanghai/Souzhou guide, Claire, very charming. I was happy to be able to keep up with the pace although I don't recall in the pre-trip information any mention of the distances we might be walking on often uneven surfaces. Maybe I missed it. All in all I grade the trip an A, for information, weather, travel arrangements, accommodations, meals.

This is our second trip with smarTours this year. They are well organized, hotels are well placed and very nice, and guides are knowledgeable and professional. We will definitely travel with smarTours again.

Firstly , I should have paid attention to the fact that there was too much ‘leisure’ time. This tour was just about for hotels and local transport only. Secondly , the tour guide failed us miserably. This was his second tour only. I have sent email and called Ritu in your office . I will leave it at that ! Very dissatisfied

The Smartours Ireland tour was the only company that did both the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula (most did one or the other) as well as days in Northern Ireland. With the exception of Galway, all the hotels were in great locations and accessible to sights. All the guides were knowledgeable and personable. I would like to give a special shout out to Michael in Galway who traipsed through the rain explaining that city’s history! I thought the value proposition excellent—in fact, unbeatable. I enjoyed the variety this tour offered—from life in prehistoric Ireland to today’s issues with Brexit. The excellent scones and Irish coffee simply enhanced the overall experience.

We really enjoyed the tour but would have liked more free time to explore when we docked. The ship needed to provide a smoke free outdoor space on the deck. The food was good but it would have been nice to have a menu that correspond to where we were sailing.

My first complaint is that my wife and I were not seated together on the plane even though we registered and paid well in advance. The group we traveled with all registered roughly at the same time and were all scattered, including other husbands and wives. I would think when a group registers for a trip they should be in close proximity at least. Our tour director was pretty good but on other tours we've taken out of the country, we had a director with us at all times. on the last day, we were supposed to have a box breakfast since we were leaving so early. that did not happen. that was not acceptable since that was supposed to be a part of the package.

Customer service was lacking. Contact with customer after booking is virtually non-existent. The tour itself was good, guide was knowledgeable and attentive. Based on my experience, I would recommend this company as a basic, "you get what you pay for" type of company.

The trip was extensive; probably a little too much to grasp all the beauty of Scandinavian countries in such a short time. It was a tasting, not an in- depth exploration of an area. But, for what it was, it was done well.

The tour guide for Thailand had difficulty with her English. In Bali our checkout time was 1 PM but our flight wasn't until 10 PM. Australia was rainy and cold so the trip to the beach was a waste of time. London didn't accept AMEX or American money. Air Asia is the worst airlines I've ever been on. Had a stomach virus for the whole time in Indonesia and no medicine for diarrhea. Lots of walking and stair climbing in Indonesia. Despite all of the above, we had a good time, traveling around the world. This was my third trip with Smartour. The accommodations were excellent.

I had a great experience with smar Tours during my Iceland trip. The size of the group, the people, our tour leader Godny all made it very memorable. The daily schedule and excursion was done perfectly

Spectacular Greece was exactly as advertised! Granville Lee-Warner's stories brought the islands to life; Martina's land tour was remarkably historical and informative. Both took excellent care of us on our trek across a land of wonders. Hotels, meals, stops, etc. were all outstanding. It would, however, be a good point to make on the trip description that this tour requires a lot of walking and climbing. Not for someone with back, hip, or knee problems!

This was our second well-run SmarTours trip. This trip to Japan was both interesting and enjoyable. Our guide, Yuko, was very efficient, knowledgeable and caring. She took time to help members of our group maximize our time on free days if we chose not to join the optional tours. Our optional tour to Hiroshima was worthwhile and very moving. Our touring each day was well-planned and gave us insight into Japanese culture. All of our four hotels were well-located, pleasant and comfortable. The experience of the hot spring baths in Takayama was unique, and Yuko’s explanation of the process beforehand made the experience comfortable for us.

Kudos to Smartours for their Berlin and Bavaria tour. The overall experience was extremely enjoyable and rewarding, and well planned. Our tour guide, Oliver Kuhl, was very organized and supportive, and provided a wealth of information. The hotels were of a high standard and good places to stay, with the exception of the totally inadequate air conditioning in the Hotel Maritims in Nuremberg, Germany.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Baltic trip with SmarTours. We had a very congenial group and our guide, Stephan, was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Hotels were good and cities were very interesting. Lots of walking so be prepared.

The tour guide was an inefficient communicator and had limited skills or knowledge of adult learning principles. The tour guide appeared to be often overwhelmed, anxious, disinterested or confused. We have been on over a dozen Smartours over the past 20 years and have never experienced a poor guide. In addition, the tour was too ambitious. We felt too rushed to really enjoy the sites or surrounds.
