To learn how to drive choose elsewhere. Poor quality instruction, driving to and from estates where you drive, first and second gear for 4 hours, 30 hours and never in reverse, no bay parking, gear management, roundabouts above mini, road positioning, no run around test areas. No supervisory intervention. Cars go beep, wallet goes MOO. Complain and be ignored. Given 2 stars only because instructor was on time.

Good instruction, but charged a fine before I even got behind the wheel. Instructor came to pick me up and drove into (and out of) a private car park, incurring a fine. The driving-school administrative team attempted to pressure me into agreeing to pay this fine over the phone and are now washing their hands of this. The instructor was very professional, but their admin department are something else! Avoid!! Go direct to the instructors if you can!!

Had an unpleasant experience with the driving school. I contact the customer service and requested for information on booking driving lessons and test day lessons for my upcoming driving test. I was told that I’d have to do this online using their website. The website was very user friendly and it took me only a few minutes to book on driving lessons. Over a week down the line, I got a call from the instructor to get to know me - which I thought was a wonderful idea. However, upon learning that I already have a driving test booking in for a month down the line and also because of where my test was (which I mentioned while booking the lesson of course) I was told that they wouldn’t be able to offer me driving test and that I should contact customer service to get it changed. After contacting the customer service and waiting for quite long I was told that no instructor was available in the area upon which I request for a refund and got myself free of this torture. I believe it is a great idea to have all these online forms and collecting money before hand but these forms should actually be integrated in a way that they include all the relevant information so that the company doesn’t have to cancel bookings down the line and waste everyone’s time while retaining money from customers and profiting over it during that time.

despite being a pupil for nearly a year now, son hasnt got a regular slot, the instructor has possibly taken on more pupils than he has slots for, we have 10 hours in the pot for lessons and he is lucky to have a lesson more than once every 3 weeks. we tried using the online booking but the instructor was asking us not to do this. every time he does have a lesson it ends up being a refresher one. really unsatisfactory as son wants to learn.

At first, I thought that The AA Driving School was a brilliant choice for me; their booking service is rapid and flexible through their mobile app and website; however, it soon proved that convenience over experience proved to be a heartbreaking factor. In my first lesson, I felt proud to be a Student with AADS, my instructor was welcoming, and we went through the basics of a car and how to drive. Although I was nervous and overcame those fears in the first lesson, I enjoyed my first lesson and continued to work with the AADS. Unfortunately, my experience plunged, and I wasn't enjoying my lessons after getting on the main roads. There was always a conflict between myself and my instructor (who I won't name out of respect). I didn't feel confident in my ability to drive because he kept throwing me off about how I was doing something wrong; now, friends and family who've already passed their test told me that an instructor isn't there to exclaim that I was wrong. Instead, they are there to help and improve your skills; however, this wasn't the case. Sometimes he also jeopardised taking me back to the industrial estate, which seemed like he cared about the car rather than our safety after clamouring that I would "sabotage the car" after making a simple mistake. The AADS has truly broken my heart and ultimately yielded my ability to have confidence driving on the roads, I won't be choosing this company to learn with again, and I certainly won't be recommending the AADS to friends, family and colleagues. When I decided it would be best to learn with a different company, I told my instructor I wasn't interested in learning for the time being and in cancelling my driving test lesson booking. He followed my instructions; however, my account was also closed, so I couldn't request a refund for the 2 hours that the company stole from me. Worst experience ever! Don't choose the AADS if you want to have confidence on the road.

Your experience of the AA driving school will depend very much on your instrutor. Unfortunately, my son's was lazy. We started using him for a test that was booked 5 months ahead. We reminded him of the date of the test all the way through but he failed to prepare my son for the test. In 38 hours of lessons, he didn't use a Sat Nav once. He didn't do any practice tests or take my son through the format of the test. We had to drive 40 minutes to drop my son outside his front door. He refused to meet us in another area of Oxford.

My instructor, Charles, was not good. He does know the proper training techniques and keep reminding me I can’t pass from the very first session itself, which was very disappointing. Finally he did not agree to attend the actual test a day before test date. I was not able to cancel my test in time because of his mismanagement.

The driving instructor was very good and helpful however I found the organisation unhelpful and mean-spirited. Very basic level of customer service. Will be joining RAC.
