“The staff are great I have done a couple of pre orders beforehand and they have been done and ready to collect when I have arrived. I do love the new tasting room I think that this is a brilliant idea I buy more wine after I have used the tasting room! I haven't used the free offer as I haven't quite reached the limits but again it's an excellent idea. They have most varieties of wine I just wish you stocked more white Zinfandel!! A big thankyou to all the staff for your help and kindness”

“I have been a customer for s number of years and still find the same excellent value for money. The pricing structure gives new customers a fair comparison against UK prices! Best to buy in bulk as such good buys will invariably be sold out next time. The £99 spend offer again is good value.”

“Have used Calais wine several times. Wide range of beer & wine available. Always pre-order and use their free travel offers. Like the tasting room. Last time changed some items on our order after trying different options in the tasting room. Prices are very competitive. Staff always helpful. We shall be returning.”

“Calais Wine offer a good selection of wines at a good price, we always stop off hereto stock up. New tasting room is a big improvement although I would prefer using small plastic disposable glasses rather than regular glasses which sometimes are not that clean”

“The Calais Wine store is easy to find and easy to park right out side. The store is clean, bright and the staff are helpful and friendly. Wines are zoned by the country or origin and priced by the bottle or case, you can buy as much or as little of each wine as you like. There in no pressure to buy and you can taste most of the wines on offer using the clean glasses provided. Payment is by pounds, euros or credit card, so there is no need to worry about exchange rates etc. I hope this is informative especially if you are new to buying wine or going on a booze cruise”

“Welcome the beer proposals, but very limited spirits. We still have to go across to the local super market. Now the ferries do not have very good offers, you could take advantage of this. Otherwise the service is good.”

“Since its birth from the ashes of Oddbins Calais operation, Calais Wine Superstore has remained my first call whenever shopping for wine in Calais because their prices are highly competitive for a range of modestly priced wines, some of which are very decent quality and a good majority of which are strong value for money. And it is so conveniently located. What limits my score to four stars is that there are not many mid-priced wines of genuinely better quality - wines that would encourage me to pay, say, £7 to £12 rather than £3 to £7. Two simple examples are red Rioja and white Burgundy, where those in the slightly more expensive range have almost always disappointed me over recent years. Examples on the positive side include Australian chardonnay, where the store has consistently offered a very good range at super prices, and some of the excellent French vins de pays from up-and-coming producers. The lack of mid-to-higher quality wines may well reflect the main demand from the clientele of the business, but does tend to limit my overall spend on the two or three visits I make each year - and, judging from my conversations with other customers and Calais shoppers, I may not be alone in that view.”

“Great Place to visit for good value wines. Should be on every day trippers 'must go to' list. One tip, always look for the latest vintages. Don't buy the everyday wines that are 2-3 years old.”

“Easy to order on line, all ready when you arrive, tasting available on most items, easy parking , friendly staff and boat or tunnel bookings easy to arrange. Almost too good to be true, but it is!”

“Great service and selection of wines at great prices and having the travel paid for is FAB. Tasting room in December was a disappointment - very few wines to taste , untidy , just not good. Beer selection ....well there is no selection , very poor so I go here - this is what I call a beer selection. Thanks . Marek”

Hi Marek Thank you for your comments. We are sorry about the tasting area in Decmber - we have just opened a brand new Tasting Room with 150+ wines open to taste all day everyday, so you should never get a repeat of your experience in December. We appreciate your comments on the beer selection, it is an area we know is a weakness and have been working hard over the last few months to address it. All I can say is watch this space over the next few months, we hope to have much more impressive beer selection in the run up to this Christmas. “My only concerns are that the product description on their website do not identify whether the wine is bottled in the country of origin, or is bottled in the UK. This makes a big difference to the quality of the wine, and the only other way to ascertain this is to check the small print on the bottle label at the time of collection, and then change the order if necessary.”
