“Attracted by both the prices (which are Calais competitive) and the offer of free Eurotunnel. Initially went wrong way on local motorway but managed to come off at next junction and turn around. Signing is not very clear when exiting Eurotunnel. Good selection but lots of unheard of brands and wines. Quite a lot available for tasting (of the cheaper ones). My order was waiting for me and I added a bit more after browsing. Paid in euros on cc. Would be good if they combined with local supermarket with special deals on cheese etc.”

“Very good prices indeed on wines available in the UK. You normally get 50% or more off UK prices and they pay for your ferry ticket as well! (If you spend a set amount which is dangerously easy to do). There is also a tasting room where you can taste most of what you're buying which for me is essential given the inherent variability of wine. Very good selection of wines although there is a bit of a gap in coverage around £5.50-£7.00. There are three wine shops on this industrial estate: -Majestic -French Version of Calais Wine Store -Calais Wine Store But Calais Wine Store is the best value of the three. It is best to check prices versus Carrefour and the like to ensure you're getting good value. Staff all speak English and are friendly and helpful. Can thoroughly recommend a visit”

“Great price and efficient service. Also the shop is just around the corner from the Help Refugees charity warehouse meaning you can easily make a donation to a good cause at the same time as collecting your wine.”

“The website is very to easy to navigate around, we have placed 3 or 4 orders over the last couple of years and have been very happy to continue going back. One thing that was a minor let down this time was that once we had placed our order on line and booked the crossing we got there to find that some of the wines had increased in price but we were not informed of this and if your paying in cash and calculate your value before hand potentially you may not have taken enough currency to cover your order.”

“Very good selection of wines from around the world at excellent prices. So many of the £2 wines are really good for current drinking. Was reluctant to buy things we didn't know, but got lots after trying in the excellent tasting room. Wish it was easier to get there from the North - would visit several times a year”

“STAFF ALWAYS PLEASANT AND HELPFUL AND PRICES VERY GOOD. ARRIVED YESTERDAY TO PICK UP MY ORDER AND FOUND MY WINE BOXES ONLY HAD A SELL BY/USE BEFORE DATE OF APRIL 2016 ON THEM. IT WAS A LARGE ORDER SO HAD TO CHANGE MY ORDER WHILST IN THE STORE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN APPROPRIATE FOR SOME ONE TO CONTACT ME AND INFORM ME OF THIS FACT BEFORE I ARRIVED SO I COULD HAVE LOOKED AT ALTERNATIVES BEFOREHAND. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE AS USUAL.”

“Saved a lot of money on a mixed bag of red wines - However some changed in price between ordering and being picked up and was charged a higher price than expected. Not a problem except I can't get a refund only a credit note for my next return so suggest allowing time (if you can) to check this doesn't happen to you at the checkout.”

“We used Calais Wines to purchase wine for our wedding. Big selection of wines at great prices. Finding Calais wines from the ferry port is easy, the whole process from arriving at Dover to collecting the wine is really simple. Staff we really helpful. Would thoroughly recommend. Thankc”

“Everything fine but two points. First: I tired to pay by cheque which could not be verified by phone. I don't have a cheque guarantee card (do they still exist?) and anyway they were only good for £250 and this order was more than that. So had to pay by card and suffer a significant currency fee. Second: when I unloaded the boxes a couple of days later, one bottle had been broken some long time ago. When I contacted the company I was offered a refund - next time I visit which could be some long time away. Not a real issue for a bottle costing a couple of pounds but a simple refund would have been more customer friendly.”

“A good selection of wine at very reasonable prices. We took advantage of their offer to fund cost of Eurotunnel if we spent a minimum sum - all worked very smoothly. Tastings very generous and staff very helpful. The only thing I can fault is that British beer stocks very limited and not very good value, also spirits non existent - latter resolved by visit to Carrefour!”

“The tasting room didn't impress me much, the wines didn't seem chilled enough and some tasted like they had been open too long and not all wines are available to taste, however we were allowed to open bottles that weren't in the tasting room and the savings we made were worth the trip. The journey all ran very smoothly and the try when you get there option was very easy to book. Overall I was happy with the service and would do it again”

We do try to keep a good cross section of the wines we have available in the Tasting Room, and to rotate the stock, but some can be missed sometimes - we will certainly ask our staff to address this issue. Some people like their white wine to be very chilled, some less so because they feel it brings out the flavour more - this is really a matter of preference. “When I arrived the staff were obviously under pressure. They were very helpful and friendly but, although my order - which had been e-mailed in advance - had been prepared overnight, there were some mistakes that had to be rectified. Also, the Wine Store's offer of a free crossing if one spends a sufficient amount is a little confusing as the booking has to be made by the Wine Store itself. As it happened, I received a voucher for a free crossing (by ferry, not by the Tunnel) when I returned home. The prices are unbelievably good when compared to the UK and it really is difficult to know when to stop loading one's trolley. I shall be a regular visitor from now on and I hope they manage to become a little more streamlined in their operation. I wish them well.”
