there taking money and not sending items there ripping people off no answer to emails no live chat no customer service this is fraud

Money taken immediately from my account. No sign of my order.i am a pensioner.this is not on.if the company is having problems u should not be stealing money from people’s bank accounts knowing orders would not be fulfilled.

Ordered 6 books and money was taken straight away but books never turned up. I’ve tried everything to contact the book people but had no luck. It’s ridiculous this website is still going it should be shut down

It's been 16 days since I ordered from The Book People and my order's status is still "pending" (aka, not distributed yet). I've reached out to them twice and have no received any response. I'm losing faith and not sure if i'll ever get these books. There is no order cancellation process as well. I'm truly disappointed. Don't waste your time and money!

I ordered three books on 1 December. After a week I emailed asking where my order was, no reply, emailed again, no reply. I phoned customer service who asking where my order was and asked why no reply to my emails. Was told I may have sent two, but others have sent five. Asked where my order was, told in the warehouse and would receive before Xmas. Still no sign, so again phoned customer service who said I would need to speak to enquires, so he put me throug, the phone rang out. I phoned again and asked not to be out through to enquires as they were customer service. He totally ignored me and put me through again, phone rang out again. I have still not received my books and my order is still pending. As I ordered in 1 December this was plenty of time to send my grandsons books for his Xmas present. Absolutely shocking customer service, I have now resigned myself to the fact that i will not receive these before Xmas, if at all. I will definitely be making a formal complaint, although given past experience it will probably be ignored.

I have used The Book People for a couple of years, and as I live not too far from their warehouse, delivery has always been very fast and reliable, and I would have recommended them to anyone. There was a slight hitch last Christmas when one of the books I had ordered was out of stock. Even though it was not going to arrive in time for Christmas, when they contacted me, I said I was happy to wait for it to come in again, but in the end they refunded my money anyway, which seemed reasonable, as I don't know enough about the workings of the book trade to think otherwise. This year, however it is a different story. I ordered some books on 15th Dec, and, as I have now just discovered, my card was debited immediately. However when I look at my order status on the TBP website, 4 days later, my order is still described as Pending. On the 17th I was shocked to hear that the company has gone into administration, but reassured by their declared intention to fulfil all orders by Christmas. I have tried phoning, but I suspect there in no-one there manning the phones. I have sent an email, in which I even offered to go and collect the books from the warehouse, which would have saved them some money, but have had no reply. Is anyone out there having the same experience, or does anyone know what is going on?

My order was tracked and arrived on time but one book missing sent 2messages via there Web sight no answer from them still not had a reply 2weeks later never again would I deal with them so ignorant not to reply at least

I paid a large amount of money in full 2 weeks ago with no sign of the order. I phoned several times and was told that someone will return my call but this has not happened. I feel like I've had my money stolen! Appalling customer service! Avoid like the plague! This is a scam website no doubt!

Disheartening to see so many reviews saying they've had the same complaint, not making me feel that a resolution is likely any time soon. I placed an order at the end of December. When it arrived one book was missing (ticked on the order sheet but another that I did receive wasn't ticked). The missing book was from the same range as another that is received, which quite frankly was rubbish and not worth what I'd paid and therefore I'd have wanted to return both. Over the next six weeks I've tried to phone multiple times but no one answers, the FAQ section refers to an online chat button that doesn't exist, and I sent three emails backed up by three online enquiries. They eventually responded to one of the online enquiries saying they'd not received my email, they only mentioned one date but I assume they meant any of emails nor the two earlier online enquiries - which I find highly unlikely! I've now replied with a fourth email which included the history of my prior messages, but still no reply or resolution. I accept that mistakes happen, particularly over the busy Christmas period, however the complete lack of reply and customer service is unacceptable. Such a shame really as myself and family have used The Book People a lot over many years.

I placed an order, well on time for when I needed the books. The delivery arrived late, though I was repeatedly assured that it would be on time when I called. It was then left out in the rain while I was away. When I returned I tried to get a refund for the item, which I didn;t need anymore. A month later I have yet to get the money, though I have returned the items. One item was missing from the order and I only received a refund when I called and insisted on getting a refund. Communication is poor, I got no response at all to the many emails I sent and I often spent 30mins+ on hold.

You cancelled my order and only refunded the cost of the book, not the cost of next day delivery I paid which was actually more expensive than the book. I have emailed several times and tried calling but I am just being ignored. I am disappointed and annoyed.
