“On my first try got a migraine after treatment & migraine 4 am today. How much % of stimulation should I be at?”

Hi, Karen. If you have treated with Nerivio and have not experienced relief/freedom, or the migraine has returned, you may administer additional treatments on the same day. We recommend you switch arms between treatments. Based on our clinical studies and feedback from users, we recommend using Nerivio about 4-5 times to evaluate its efficacy for aborting your migraine attacks. Set the treatment intensity level by increasing it to a level that feels strong yet comfortable and not painful. It is personal. If the sensation is uncomfortable or painful, you should decrease the intensity by 1 or 2% or until strong but comfortable. In clinical trials, levels lower than 20% were found to be less effective by the majority of patients. If you experience hand numbness and/or muscle twitching, try decreasing the intensity slightly, as it may be too high, or changing the location of the electrodes on the arm.

It’s important to begin acute treatment as early as possible (preferably within 60 minutes of the start of your migraine), set an intensity that is strong but comfortable, and complete the full 45-minute treatment. “I have had constant headaches for over 15 years due to TBI from being near numerous explosions while deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Have not found the cure after Botox, numerous medications and a monthly shot. Nerivio doesn't stop the headaches but it does make them manageable. Very pleased with the product.”

“Update as of 6-26/26: I am pleased that I was now able to fill in the post-treatment assessment hours later (my acute attacks often come in the wee hours of the morning)! I like the new graphics which show my Nerivio and acute medication (if any) use. Also, I am glad that Nerivio comes with less disposable unnecessary plastic disposable stuff. Is there an option to withhold getting a new arm band for every new device? Using the device has been a very good experience all in all. The acute care companion (I think that’s what it’s called) has canned music that comes to the fore at the end that’s too percussive and repetitive to be relaxing, but the other audio tracks are fine. One thing that has been an unpleasant surprise and an unfortunate development is that the patient can no longer obtain refills on one’s existing Nerivio device up till its expiration date by pressing the refill button. We now have to purchase an entire new device, arm band and all, at full price, each time the 18 treatments have been used. This causes distress for the patient who has limited funds and moreover makes no business or economic sense. It also causes environmental waste. Sending the old device to be “recycled” is of little or no consequence. I hope that we can get back to using our devices until their given expiration dates. Mine is to expire a year from now (9/19/24), yet I’ve only four more sessions I can now use. It will now be rendered useless once I’ve used them up.”

Hey, Julie! We're glad you've found relief with Nerivio. During a treatment, Nerivio stimulates nerves in the upper arm through remote electrical neuromodulation (REN). The nerves carry messages to the brain to activate a pain-management response to naturally turn off migraine pain without the need of any medications.
