River Elbe cruise on "Clara Schumann" - wonderful staff, excellent food, really interesting itinerary. Older ship so staterooms not as large as newer ships.

A very good holiday. Got the impression that, compared to the Russian and Danube cruises which we have also taken with Viking, this Duoro cruise struggled a little to find really interesting places to take us off the ship. Best were Salamanca and Lamego, but Favaios and Castelo Rodrigo were hardly riveting. Also too much concentration on visits to (usually port) wineries where nothing was happening and therefore little to see. Vessel excellent, with first class accommodation and food, as usual. High marks also for the staff, escorts etc. A suggestion - what about organising holidays with 4 days on the ship (ie travelling either up or down stream), You could start in Madrid (2-3 nights), then visit Salamanca (1 night) en route for the ship at Barca D'Alva then sail to Porto (4 nights on board) with visits to eg Lamego, Mateus, etc and Porto, and then Coimbra (1 night) and Lisbon (3 nights) (or in opposite direction). That would make an excellent 11-12 night holiday, and extensions could be offered as now at either end.

Have just returned from Imperial Jewels of China. Excellent holiday, well organised, excellent ship and hotels. Yangtze river did not quite come up to expectations although the three gorges and goddess stream were well worth the visit and the lock system was an interesting experience. Disappointed that we were unable to go inside the dam to see how things operated and that you no longer have the optional excursion to the Summer Palace, this might be preferential to the Peking Opera. Facilities on the ship were excellent as were the Officers and staff. Our one criticism was the lack of seating on the sun deck, there is plenty of room for more chairs and or beds. We wrote on the cruise itself that we had booked as a large party (10) . We are friends who do not meet very often but appreciate our time together especially over a meal. Although we agree with you r open seating plan in general we think that in a few instances like a group booking this could be relaxed. We had in addition one member who is a coeliac and the staff were excellent but it helps them if the person is seated in the same area for each meal

Could not fault anything except sampan boat ride up the three gorges, audio system poor and views were restricted because of boat lay out, but we still enjoyed it and boat staff were very friendly and informative.

The tour was excellent [China]. The quality of the hotels was high and the cruise part was very good. The whole experience could not have been better, and was in line with other viking cruises we have been on. The tour escort was extremely good and the local guides gave good service.

Having travelled with Viking before we were hopeful of another lovely river cruise. We were not disappointed! Excellent service, food and organisation made a wonderful holiday and we were very lucky with the weather, which meant we could sit outside for lunches and cruising down the Rhine. We would recommend Viking to anyone interested in river cruising, they know how to do it well!

so well looked after in a very personal way; we thoroughly enjoyed our ten days and found the tours interesting, the exception being Prague which was so crowded and we were tired at the end of the trip, I wonder if this could be replanned and if we could have had a more central hotel so we could have planned our own excursion more easily. The musical evening could should have been longer, they were a very good group. Excellent pianist. Thankyou, Joanna and George Cacanas.

Accommodation first class, staff and service excellent, food good, Destinations met expectations BUT Tulips and Windmills; one half day windmills and one half day tulips and a cruise through the commercial and industrial waterways of Holland.Did not compare with the attractiveness of last years cruise along the Rhone

Absolutely super service from the crew, food excellent, we had a fantastic time, despite the weather, and the fact that we could not cruise after Wed. as the water level was too high and we were moored up by some industrial site. Every member of the crew did everything possible for us, but I found the long coach rides to and from Nuremberg very tiring, and was very disappointed that we couldn't continue with our cruise. Would recommend Viking cruises, and hope to do another one next year (hopefully for a full week) Many thanks to all the crew on board Viking Freya. Heather Preston

Rhine cruise Amsterdam to Basel April 2015 on board Viking Kavsir. We really enjoyed this trip along the Rhine. This ship is very well appointed and comfortable. The food and service could not be faulted in any way as both were excellent and up to Vikings usual standard. The staff were well trained courteous and always pleasant and nothing was too much bother . Excursions off the ship were very interesting with Strasberg being one of the more memorable ones. Overall a relaxing and memorable cruise and one we might do again some time in the future and certainly with Viking

We enjoyed our cruise but prefer your River Cruises. The reasons - far fewer guests . however, the staff were excellent as was the food and the ship. The best part was - no dressing up, in fact if you did, you would look really out of place. Also, no awful "meeting the captain and being photographed with him" - just people relaxing and enjoying themselves.

Our Cruise was, as ever, very enjoyable. The only "downer" was the rise in the Danube which meant the ship could not reach Regensberg, far less Nuremberg. However the Programme Director arranged for buses to take us to these venues. I would like to commend our Programme Director, Sonya, who worked tirelessly and with good humour to make these arrangements at short notice. She is a great credit to your Company.

A trip of a lifetime with all the finesse which is Viking. Our tour guide Michael was second to none. He was very efficient, helpful and friendly. A jewel in the Viking crown!

The cruise itself was first class, just as we expected. We were, however, disappointed to find the flight to Frankfurt was changed from the original one and that the KLM flights took all day to finally arrive. As a result we missed anything to do with Frankfurt. Others from our home airport had much better flights and we had booked as soon as the cruise was announced. We were also disappointed that the newly designed cabins on the Eistla are much smaller than those on the previous generation of boats. You could not readily spend time in your cabin. Finally, the mooring in Amsterdam was very disappointing, too far out and the shuttle bus service was too widely spaced for a relaxed visit to the town centre. The food on board was excellent but the German Night was, for us, unsuccessful. Much more guidance was needed on how to negotiate the unfamiliar food items on the buffet. The crew was the friendliest and most helpful of any cruise we have been on, river or ocean alike. The atmosphere was, therefore, conducive to a very good holiday. On the whole there were many more pluses than minuses and we would certainly be happy to sail with Viking again but we would certainly be more vigilant about the flights booked for us.

A floating five star hotel. , thank you. However I do have a concern about your tipping policy of separating the tip for the cruise director from the rest of the crew. I worked out that tipping the cruise director in line with your guidelines resulted in a tip of about two hundred Euros a day, which apart from seeming rather excessive compared with the rest of the crew, makes me wonder what you pay him! Most other cruise companies include tips in the fare, and I think you should consider doing the same. If not then please give very serious consideration to just requiring one envelope for the whole crew. It would then be up to you to determine what proportion of the total tip the cruise director should get. The above does not represent any dissatisfaction with the way Matt did his job, he was excellent, but I feel he should be considered to be just one member of an excellent ships company.

My Brother recommended you early last year. So we decided to try a river cruise in October 2014 on the Danube which was excellent and exceeded expectations, everything was well organised, the cabins and beds comfortable and serviced daily, the daily trips were interesting and well led and the food was of a high standard with generous drinks during the meal, so we booked again April this year. The Rhine was lovely and the service of an equally high standard. Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed both trips and have already booked in October 2016 on the Portugal trip. Well done Viking Jenny Salisbury

Viking Mandalay was thoroughly enjoyable, excellent value and very well organised. Particular praise must go to Chino and Goi in Bangkok who were very knowledgeable, delightful people and very helpful. In Burma, the Hotel Manager on the boat, Dominic Hofstetter and the Pursar were superb. Dominic did everything in his power and more than could possibly have been required to ensure that everyone had a wonderful time. The crew and staff were delightful, utterly charming. If I could make any criticism it would be of our Burmese Programme Director who I felt was at the end of season and merely going through the motions with little interest in either the passengers or the trips. I felt he did not give us information which would have been of interest and which I managed on the whole to find out from the Internet or from books. Particularly frustrating was the fact that he did not tell us that the Banks in Burma do not change pounds sterling and the only way to get them changed is by money changes in the market. I cannot believe that he was unaware of this as he lives there and it is his job to be aware of such matters. He actually sent me, first of all to the bank at the airport and then to the hotel exchange (which was closed for a holiday all the time we were in Rangoon, another fact of which he should have been aware). I ended up changing my money in Scotts Market but had to find this out for myself. Dollars and euros are changeable at all banks but pounds sterling are not. You may wish to mention this in your literature. Having said that the trip was what I expect from Viking, superb. Thank you and I look forward to our next trip with you.
