“This was our third cruise and, although we enjoyed it, it was not as good as previous cruises. VRC had organised our flight and so about 25 travellers arrived from UK to Marseilles early evening. By the time we arrived at the ship the briefing had started, there was no-one to greet us as we got off the coach and it was a very hurried sign in at Reception. We missed the safety briefing. I would have preferred an earlier flight or that the briefing was delayed until we were all on board. Our cabin staff, programme director and waiters were great and I am particularly grateful to the Maitre d' who ensured my dietary requirements, but I did not think the food as good as usual. We thoroughly enjoyed the Navigation Presentation by the First Officer and the visit to the wheelhouse. The staff coped very feel with the problems of flood and the need for extra coach trips”

“Whilst we enjoyed our cruise and have booked another it's annoying to find that cruises to China are offered both earlier and with more extensive options to the USA. We would also like to have liked the 18 day cultural delights option but Viking for some reason don't sell this to UK clients. Not great customer service!”

“Our one disappointment was our trip to Vienna; we were in the "less able" walking group and despite many requests we did not once have the opportunity to sit and rest. However this was really the fault of the guide. Hasn't put us off taking another Viking trip this year.”

“A extremely enjoyable holiday.Viking run the cruise very professionally with curtious and helpfull staff. The shore visits are well organised with knowlegable guides and places of well chosen interest.when a unforeseen problem arrived due to mistral winds we were all very well catered for with food ,drinks and entertainment.when we returned from our holidays we were offered compensation in terms of money off our next booking without ourselves ever lodging a complaint.”

“I will shortly be leaving on my fourth river cruise with Viking and so far I have nothing but praise for the company, it's staff and the selection of cruises available. As far as value for money is concerned I would say that up until 2014 it was excellent. However, to increase prices at a time when Sterling was appreciating against the Euro and fuel prices were falling, I would say that the last increase was much too high. The new Longships are excellent with the exception of the size of the French window rooms on the middle decks which are smaller than on the older ships. However, all in all we very much enjoy the experience.”

“My Husband and I have travelled with you first to Russia and have to admit that this was the very best of all BUT we have also enjoyed the others When we did the Budapest one we were disappointed by the Guide in the City just when we really looked forward to the Famous Coffee and cake she left us, when asked she said oh just help yourselves they are good . well we did not find one but otherwise that tour was also enjoyable apart from the concerns about the possibility of German Lock keepers striking which me net that we missed a very nice tour BUIT again Viking came up trumps and announced that the remaining tours would be free to make up for the loss. Again we were delighted and felt that Viking had done their very best for us. Avignon and Chateau Neuf du Pap was really perfect and a wonderful guide she certainly knew her village. Just one thing on that last cruise The main meal was sometimes disappointing Neauvaux Cuisine we find disappointing and for the first trip we did,nt feel that after a busy day we had an adequate meal In a few weeks time we shall be doing the Prague to Berlin trip and have persuaded a friend to come with us ` we expected a discount for so doing but did not get one? and also from the `Itinerary we see that at the Hotels we only get Breakfast One of the main reasons we come with Viking is that almost everything is included and thats how we like it, although we have been to Prague before, the last thing after a journey from home is that when reaching our destination it is suggested we might like to go looking for a meal out and the same in Berlin But other than that you tick the right boxes Thank you Janette and John FDunbavand”

“Despite your prices being on the high side,tipping on & off ship was not included.This may be because many of the passengers are American & that is the way it is done in USA. I found the Cruise Director vey annoying particularly the after dinner lectures - usually about the EU - when one could not escape as her droning voice filled all the public areas”

“As usual-superb, travel arrangements well organised and co-ordinated. Boat was beautiful, clean very welcoming, light and airy. Cabin very nice with a lovely atmosphere. Public areas never overcrowded, comfortable seating. Crew as always- very friendly and helpful. Food delicious, varied and complementary to the area. A lovely trip.”

“Of Viking cruises we have done the Elbe was the best because the crew were so friendly and helpful.Every time we returned "home" from a shore trip we were welcomed aboard with a little something.On one occasion the Captain was on the quayside handing out chocolates.We felt part of a happy family.”

“It would be better if there were a more European atmosphere on board. With over 50% USA clients on board it is difficult to maintain a European feel (eg if there are entertainers in the lounge the noisy bar service continues - even when entertainers are opera singers - more like Las Vegas than Vienna)”

“Everything about the cruise was excellent. The ship was spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed. The crew and everyone else involved in our care, were endlessly helpful, polite and friendly. “Cruise was all as expected as it was not the first with Viking, the small problem at the end due to lost cases did cause some inconvenience but was quickly sorted out by Viking. This has not stopped me using Viking as I am booked for another river cruise and a sea one next year”
