“Waitrose CATERHAM Surrey . Excellent service on my recent visit . Staff on fresh meat counter confirmed organic products and also advised me that I was entitled to a 20% discount on fresh meat that day. Also free coffee and newspaper.”

“i ordered champagne when it was on offer, then was unable to collect it in the time period owing to a family illness. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, an incredibly helpful young man in the Balham branch went to endless lengths to sort out my order and put it in my car after I had paid. I have read the unfortunate reviews posted before mine, and James Bailey obviously has work to do, but my experience was very positive. I am a long-term customer and can see changes in my local store: this young man made all the difference to my day. Much worse service from Sainsbury's with a similar order.”

“Generally I really like Waitrose - good fresh produce, friendly staff. However, it irritates me beyond measure that when they occasionally send me ‘money off’ vouchers they are invariable £7 off a £70 spend, with 8 vouchers provided for a 4 week period. I live alone, I probably average £30 per week at Waitrose, these vouchers are of no use to me whatsoever - to benefit from them all iD have to increase my spend to £140 per week. Tesco, on the other hand, sends me vouchers that work on 10%or 15% off a £30 spend, makes so much more sense. So for the period that the Tesco vouchers are valid, I’ll shop there more frequently. How difficult can it be to check my average spend and then send appropriately valued vouchers? Or is this just a tick-box exercise?”

“love Waitrose, due to your brilliant coffee and paper offer it was in 2018.a no brainer.I could understand the removal of the coffee offer. But at a time pending severe inflation the sudden removal of the newspaper offer is going to hit a lot of your loyal customers really hard . The hardest hit of this measure will be largely elderly retired people. yours sincerely Tony Gilbert.”

“I don’t usually shop on-line but I wasn’t able to visit the vet for my dogs food during lockdown so I found the same product on the Waitrose website. I wasn’t sure about the product range-so made sure I purchased exactly the same item (same photo of dog and item details on the package and same weight bag-so I knew I was comparing like for like) When it arrived the bag was 7kg and not 7.5kg as per the photo on the website and the packaging looked different. I sent an email to the Customer Service team and to give them a chance to put it right. It turned out that the product range was just in the process of being altered and the new photos hadn’t been put on the website in time for the change over. I decided not to return the items because I had ordered 2 bags and weighed 14kg-even though they would have picked them up-I didn’t want to be waiting in for the pick up van. I was offered a 10% discount, which I accepted. So I was pleased with the service I received in the end.”

“I have just read the online reviews and fortunately my experience was much better than the majority of customers. I have just received my first online delivery, with only two days to wait between ordering and delivery. Everything was fresh and there were no substitutions. I do like Waitrose anyway and I have felt ‘Covid safe’ while shopping there. However, I was very surprised at the vast quantity of bags used, many only holding one item. I know they can be recycled but my order stated that it would be bagless. Rather disappointed with that so will return to shopping in store with my own bags in future.”

“Clean supermarket and friendly staff. There is good rapport amongst staff but occasionally you overhear gossip too frequently and it can tarnish the perception of a professional environment. On the whole though, lovely staff, clean place and good quality produce.”

“I shop at waitrose because of their wide range of organic products. Their customer service in store is top notch and their products are of high quality. However, I've only had bad experience with their home delivery. I always choose not to receive my groceries in bags to protect the environment yet every time I get my purchase in single use plastic bags that are supposed to be banned. Most of the fruit and veg are still packed in single use plastic in store which is awful and it does put me off sometimes if I don't need the product that much.”

“I have a weekly order delivered. The delivery is always on time or even earlier if it is convenient. All the delivery drivers are very pleasant and friendly. The only negative is that not all the items are available and usually at least 3 items or more are not delivered even though they are available online.”

“Good choice of vegetables I can’t find at the other major supermarkets. Worth paying slightly more for better quality. Also they always discount food stuffs near their best before or use by dates.”

“Generally good quality and no queues. A little more expensive than other choices bit we like the free paper and other offers with a Waitrose card. Just tried the steak hache.....very disappointed as no contest with any French version.”
