“Something has happened recently at the Winesale shop. Last year, it had a great selection of wines from France, Italy, Sicily and elsewhere. Including NZ and Australia obviously. But most of those European wines have gone, replaced with cheap and nasty wines from Chile, Argentina, South Africa. Possibly because they have a low sourcing cost and a higher profit margin - I can't really say but I suspect that's the reason. What I *do* know is that it is now a real struggle for someone who prefers mid-priced French and Italian red wines, to find any. The knowledge behind the counter (last year) also used to be great. Now, there is little help to be had. The store has really gone "down market". Down hill. It used to be good and I used to buy a lot. Now I visit occasionally and I often come away with no wines at all. I rarely buy there now, even though I try. Let's go back to the way it was!”

Thanks Robin for your review. Sorry we haven't had the wines you prefer lately. I promise they are on their way! What you may not realise is we import about 80% of our imported range directly from overseas suppliers. That is why we are able to offer such great value for money and we believe our imported wines vastly over deliver compared to most other imported wines on the market. The problem we face is our supply can be a bit lumpy as lead times can vary from 90 to 120 days and it only takes one or two containers to be delayed and we can get quite low on stock. Regarding the "down market" wines which you refer to - we have seen, with inflation rising significantly in NZ and consumer spending flat, that their has been a move to more budget conscious selections as households rein in spending. We have seen this sector of the market grow significantly and we have put in a range of great quality budget wines to meet the market. However rest assured we are dealing with all our regular International suppliers which we have dealt with for many years and we have a lot of great quality wines on the way also. “Was dissapointed with: 9 SAH00007 Gunn Estate (South African) 2022 wine What arrived was 2021 vintage, and it was not from South Africa but Australia. Only positive was that delivery was quick.”

Hi Cindy Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had a bad experience with us. As per my email sent to you on the 21st of April I acknowledged we did make an error on this occasion and that we would take all the wine you purchased back for a full refund if you no longer wanted it.
