What’s going on with the coop the company was set up to help people afford food at a reasonable price but this is not the case now. I have used the coop in Warrington for a lifetime but never again the prices for items have gone up on all items astronomically (some items by 100% with no justification. As the coop stores are usually placed in low income areas I feel disgusted that they can do this when they must know they are cheating the elderly and poor in the area. I stated at the start of this review that I have used the coop for years but I am so angry at this blatant money grabbing exercise I will never use the again and would rather go without than pay there extortionate prices. Shame on you coop you have lost the values that founded you your a disgrace.

Why don't the Co-op have a review section on their own website? Probably worried about what many customers would say I expect. Usually ok, but is located conveniently for me. Prices are often uncomfortably high. They claim to be an ethical supplier but don't really think about what they are doing- one of the examples is loose leaf tea where they claim to be environmentally friendly by using less packaging BUT THE PACKAGING CAN'T BE RECYCLED! The old packaging was a cardboard box which can be recycled with the tea in a foil bag which couldn't be recycled but was much thinner and smaller. I just got one of their Chicken in a bag and it was awful- really tough meat like an old broiler bird. I thought the bags were supposed to make the chicken more tender so if this is true it would have been next to inedible. And Co-op chicken is expensive compared to Asda, Lidl, Tesco- well basically anywhere else. So be careful what you buy. Some stuff is ok but you really do have to be careful (sorry about repeating the 'careful' but I really believe it is justified). The staff appear disinterested in the customers (if you can find one they do help when asked) but there are frequently very few on the floor and I get the distinct impression that they are understaffed deliberately. I don't think this is actually the fault of the staff. The manager doesn't appear very often- the only time is when there are almost no staff at all and he is rushing and pushing you through as quickly as possible hardly even noticing you. It makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing them and shouldn't be there. I've heard him barking orders to the staff- he is above doing those menial tasks like serving customers?

First time online shopper with Co-op. Never again. I did some shopping for the first time ever with the Co-op. Shan’t be repeating that mistake: First they sent out someone else’s order mixed in with mine, which were it not for my integrity I could’ve had. Then one of my items was missing. Then I was charged for 2 carrier bags for 2 small items, despite them only being in one bag, which in any case I gave back as had my own. Then when I emailed about the missing item, and the mix up, I’d included the total refund to include the bags I’d been charged for but hadn’t used, stating this too. Long story short, the reply I got back was dismissive, and also felt dishonest. I shopped at the Co-op because I’d thought they were ethical. But charging for items not used, no matter how paltry the amount, adds up. And it seems they’re making a tidy profit from doing so if that’s their standard practice. I’ve obviously now taken my business elsewhere. In fact I’ve already received an issue free online order from another supermarket. When I went to write this, I was a bit shocked actually at the volume of similarly negative reviews. Such a shame. It’s the details that count, no matter how small, and really they’re relatively easy to get right. It’s also about treating people kindly and honestly.

just now NEW NEW SCAM ALERT Never trust the Coop. They lie about deliveries knowing that the delivery didn’t leave the store. Impossible to get a refund because it was marked as in transit & delivered. Which they accept didn’t happen but won’t refund my money. Paid an extra £5 for this horrendous customer services No refunds when they fail to deliver. Nightmare scenario they haven’t mastered answering the phone so you’re left hanging. Contempt is being kind

Extra special fish pie, had one piece of salmon and 3 prawns as it's total fish content. At over £3 per ready meal this is a total rip off.

I've shopped at my lovely, small, local Co-op store for over twenty years. Recently however, Co-op's own brand items have disappeared, replaced by more expensive branded items instead. For example, a kitchen cupboard staple - Co-op Baked Beans hasn't been on the shelves for months. Likewise Co-op's own brand soups are missing too. The cheapest single tin of baked beans I could find was £1.70 (Heinz) and soup £2.25 (Baxters). We're in a cost of living crisis; people are struggling to make ends meet. Co-op's loyalty card rewards customers for buying Co-op own brand products which aren't available, so what's the point of the loyalty card? If you try to contact customer services by phone you'll be turned away - it's gone digital. The staff at my local Co-op are truly wonderful, and Co-op's own brand products are good quality too, but the ethical store has out priced me out and refuses to engage. This is a serious issue. I think about people who are struggling to manage on welfare, or senior citizen who have difficulty with technology, and I feel sad for the way the world is going.

Unbelievable experience!!! Is basically the worst company to buy food online with!!!! Everytime there is a mistake or lateness! Today I made an order online as im in smart working to be delivered between 2 and 3pm, I spent 41 gbp. At 2pm I received a call and omg I was so surprised was on time. I went down, and the driver was playing on the phone so I needed to knock to his window and asking "are you coop driver?" And he said "yes are you bianca?" Amd I said yes so he opened the door and stepped out saying "wait I need your date of birth and to make a picture"so I let him do the picture and he goes away and I came upstairs to my house. As I stepped in my house I checked the bag and there was another name on it, I opened and there were 4 items amd the total value of the shopping was about 10 pounds or less as they are just chocolate (and im diabetic so unusable). I started to fill all the complain forms possible, I tried to phonecall the store Coop in Larklane liverpool to try to get the tel no of the driver cause it was passed just 5 minutes so I still could swap, but nobody picked up the phone. I sent a lot of email to coop, now is 10pm and still no one reached me òut! I tried to call the customer service number and the automated voice said I should wait 1 h for my place in queue to speak with some one so I decided to wait, doesn't matter, but after 40 minutes on hold waiting the escalation they close my call. I retried to recall and I should wait another 1h and 10 min, so I gave up! At 5 I called another store online of another brand to buy what I was needing! So I ended up spending a tot of 80 gbp today for 36 gbp of shopping!!!! Unbelievable until now 10 pm nobody still contacted me! ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH ! I filled up a request of a refund and If I will not receive any reply i will go for legal actions as I have all the proof I need and definitely I will NEVER buy anymore from coop online anymore! Is absolutely the WORST experience ever!!!!

Sorry to say, it's very poor. My closest shop, but only use it now for one or two basic items if I run out before doing my main shopping elsewhere. Options reduced since store revamp, as there are fewer cook-from-scratch options and more pricey (and less healthy) pre-prepared, processed and ready-meals. A good number of items I used to buy are no longer stocked, so I have no choice but to get what I need from other retailers, which are further away but offer higher quality, greater variety and larger ranges, not to mention better prices. Co-op prices are steadily climbing steeply, but the standards remain low, so even more reason not to shop there unless desperate.

The Central England Co-op is on a mission to wipe out orangutans. Nearly everything contains palm oil!! I purchased a Cornish pastie from their deli chiller thinking it would be high quality. Only when I got it home did I read the ingredients list (see photo). I found that hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is an artificial additive used in paint and adhesives, and may cause allergic reactions. Straight in the bin!

The new chicken and mushroom pie is a watery mess and rubbish much prefered the old cheaper chicken slice. Co -op up to its normal tricks pay more get less as did with grapes that went from 500grms to 450grms in same size container. Deception as usual to go with highly inflated prices!

Customer service is mostly outstanding however the prices are ludicrously high. Co-op now makes marks and spencers look cheap... Four pounds for a box of cereal? I mean, where does it end? So much for co-op being about the people. Wasn't that the reason coop was started after the war... To make living more affordable? There I was thinking sainsburys is expensive... Not in comparison. They have weekly price hikes. Avoid..

It would be nice if Co-op added some filling to their sandwiches. Standards are dropping. Going back to Sainsburys until the situation improves.

THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY - THEN DON'T DELIVER! I live on my own and am currently self isolating at home due to COVID. If you are on a low budget, I wouldn't recommend using this service. They charge you an extra 10% on top of your shopping, just in case they substitute for more expensive items - but don't offer substitutes - they then return the cash, 3 to 5 WORKING days later. Plus, if there's anything unavailable (in my case, I ordered 3 bottles of wine and only got one!) - they charge you in advance for those as well, then don't deliver them. They state in the email confirmation "You won't be charged for these items" - but they already have and will make you wait for that too - it's a con. Plus, for one of the bottles of the wine, they just took it off the final confirmation email, with no explanation; if I hadn't emailed them, I would never have been refunded. If you want to make the most of your money, get cheaper prices and not have it sitting in co-op's bank account for a week - shop elsewhere.

I have used the home delivery five time and have just about had enough, never ever have I had all my items delivered on any order. Yesterday was the final straw, ordered a dozen items and they missed five, this is just beyond a joke,Im not shopping online because Im lazy, Im doing it because I have a fractured ankle, but if they cant even deliver the basics like bread and milk whats the point. My new years resolution is to STOP using the CO-OP.

I tried a Co-op own brand "Irresistible" Braised Beef & Truffle Chips (£4 to serve one), heated as instructed. The quantity of beef was pretty meagre, but worse, it was fatty and chewy and I had to discard about half of it. The gravy, chips and sauce were fine, but overall, a regrettable experience.
