“Scammed $99 membership fee after small purchase of 2 Wiggles t shirts. They automatically sign you up to their first membership with a $99 annual fee with your purchase. They do not have a phone number to call for complaints. Deceitful and dishonest trading. I have put complaint into Australian consumer affairs. Avoid at all costs. Absolutely terrible experience. No response to my request for a refund from dick smith.”

“Dick Smith should be ashamed of himself selling his name to a company that is stealing from customers. I bought a bed and mattress on the Dick Smith website expecting the same standard of service his name is reputed to provide however the bed base came without the mattress. I have tried to follow it up with no response or follow up and no one to speak on the phone about this issue. Furthermore to find out that I have been signed to a $99 membership without my consent. I will be complaining to consumer affairs. I will telling everyone to stay away from this company.”

“I wish I had read these reviews first. I was signed up automatically to First and charged an additional $99 without my consent. Also product turned up without a battery or battery size information, so was unusable until I emailed to ask what type of battery it took and then bought one. Horrible experience all around. Have complained to the ACCC.”

“Scammers taking money in such a sly fashion! Money that is not deserved - oh and look, no phone number to call anyone. I dont even know my supposed account number that i just got charged $99.00 for!!! A55HOLES!!!!!!!!!!!”

“Dick Smith are taking advantage of people. My daughter was scammed into signing up to the FIRST service 12 months ago. It cost her $99. She has no income. She contacted Dick Smith last year. Not only did they NOT cancel her membership but they charged her another $99 this year. We are incredibly distressed by this. There’s no way to get in touch with a person there and they have not responded to our emails and web form enquires.”

“Theft of $99 for a membership I never agreed to when purchasing a pair of $16 power supplies. An automatically checked box is not a valid way of getting an agreement from a customer. to sign up to an annual membership. This is fraud and they have taken my credit card details without permission. Never buy from this team of thieves.”

“Firstly Dick Smith has nothing to do with this online store. Since Kogan took over in 2016 it’s gone downhill. They’ve introduced this First Membership scheme. You don’t even get a choice. Wasn’t aware of that when ordering. Now I’m fighting to get my $99 back. Beware of buying from these two companies. I’ve learnt my lesson. My ongoing concern is what happens when this is due again. Do they just keep charging? I’ll be taking this further believe me. Crooks.”

“Complete scammers, don't buy anything from this site. They pre click this FIRST choice which you can't even see. They then charge you $99 per year for something you didn't even ask for. You try to call and email to cancel abd noone calls or answers your complaint. Total scam, Dick Smith should be ashamed of himself!!”

“I ordered a brand new iphone X as advertised and was expecting a brand new iphone as mentioned in the Dick Smith website, but received a faulty, old iPhone and had to go through hell. I couldn’t even switch it on. I contacted Apple support and they couldn’t resolve this and they advised me to take it to an Apple store, which I did. There they found out that this phone is not brand new. Then I sent back the phone as Dick Smith advised and received a replacement phone. I was sent a replacement phone , replacing non-brand new, non-working iphone, but I again received a faulty, old iPhone which does not even start. This was very disappointing to have continuously sending faulty phones, which I though Dick Smith is a genuine and reliable online seller. When I put the iPhone to charge as soon I received for hours it doesn’t even startup. I contacted Apple support and they couldn’t resolve this and they advised me to return the phone to the seller. To my surprise, that phone was not a new phone as well. After going through all the hassle, Dick Smith just offered me a refunding option even without consulting me on that. As a courtesy, DS didn't even offer me available options and also, I was expecting a brand new working phone as mentioned in the returned product as well. Going through this bad experience twice, I would never recommend anyone to buy from Dick Smith, they are scamming customers. Don”

“Delivery great and in good time. The “first membership” is a scam and not straight forward to cancel. I will tell my friends to beware of Dick Smith. Dick Smith was a name to be trusted but not anymore.”

“He committed fraud, via kogan. He is a scammer. Don't buy anything from these fools, they need to be charged for fraud. They are using your bank details, 2 weeks after you buy something, that way they have your details. Dick needs exporting to some country that will deal with him properly.”

“Dick Smith, 'Australian of the Year' scamming people (as well as me) with membership to Kogan that they did not ask for. And if I did somehow sign up, it was a trick, or in fine print. How is this allowed? I am bitterly disappointed the money is simply withdrawn from my account. Do not purchase anything with any association to Dick Smith or Kogan. There is no one to speak to and is part of the deception. Despite having 'customer service' there is no customer service and you are directed to contact Kogan online.”

“Just adding another 1 star review to this flogged company for charging me $99 without my knowledge. Apparently a preticked box that signs you up to a membership. Absolutely terrible, how do these ppl even have customers. Glad they were broke a few years ago.”

“I got scammed as well. Charged for postage and the First scam. Only was aware when I saw the $99 charge on my credit card. Used Dick Smith/Kogan online a fair bit during COVID lockdowns and was happy with them then so was not on the look out for anything like this. Will be reporting to consumer affairs.”

“DICK SMITH STOLE OVER SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT TODAY!!!!! My husband and I are disabled and this loss is impossible to sustain. Can't talk to a human, my bank is trying to get it back but might not be able to. NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM DICK SMITH!!!”

“Apparently they are just resellers for other companies. Where most sellers who sell phones have a very clear message if they are AU stock or not, this company have extremely light and small writing on the listing which is not obvious, even in the description. Then you glance at an email and see you have been signed up as a member, payable after the one month trial. So you then have to go to PayPal and cancel. Very underhand and so easy to be caught out because they can book you out for anything unauthorised it seems. Then the email spam, many messages daily with an almost hidden unsubscribe button. AND AFTER THREE WEEKS I AM STILL TO RECEIVE MY ORDER BECAUSE I LIVE REGIONALLY!! My suggestion - don't buy from this company.”
