“Like others Dick Smith added a membership fee of $99 that was not explained or on my cart costs when I checked out. I suspect that this is a corporate strategy to steal money from purchasers and they have continued this practices despite complaints. Shame on you”

“They charged me 99 dollars for a service I didn't agree to and wasn't even aware I was being charged for. Do not shop here. They don't have any convenient ways of contacting them or requesting refunds. Only waiting in between emails. I only know of the issue, because my product became faulty only a month after purchase. If I didn't have an issue with the product I bought I never would have known I was charged that much and wouldn't have looked into it. I'm still waiting on their response, and waiting on a refund. Disgusting, predatory, scamming, predator behavior. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Get back to me and give me back my money. ACCC Soon.”

“Dick Smith automatically signs you up for their First subscription membership for $99 unless you cancel within 14 days. This practice is illegal - you must let clients tick the box if they wish to take out a subscription NOT pre-tick every purchase. BUYERS BEWARE. I noticed this charge on my credit card after the 14 days had elapsed. I got my bank to write to Dick Smith on my behalf.”

“Unbelievably, this company (from which i had bought many items online and had intention to buy more from going forward) burned me for an $150 automatic subscription to some bogus service without my consent. A quick google search will explain that they dont care if you think its wrong, theyre going to keep your money and its your fault. AVOID DICK SMITH AT ALL COSTS. They have no issue burning even good customers for a quick cash stim.”

“SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a chair from dick smith it turned up on time but I noticed that there were some obvious things clearly different from what they were advertising. They also sent a spam email to my inbox telling me that I had signed up for a membership that I didn't want; They were trying to charge me 150$ disgusting”

“SCAM ALERT.. I bought one small $13.82 item from Dick Smith. Slow to arrive. Then they automatically charged me for a FIRST annual membership for $99.00. I am sure this is illegal in Australia under Consumer Protection laws. I am now fighting with "Customer Care" who clearly do not understand the phrase. It is like talking to a brick wall. DO NOT TOUCH THIS OFFENSIVE COMPANY.”

“The product was fine. What is NOT ok is being automatically often in for a free 14 day trial of Kogan first. If you do not cancel this within 14 days they take $99 from your account. By far the most disgusting and off putting business behaviour I have ever seen. DO NOT BUY FROM DICK SMITH”

“Dick Smith/Logan is a Scamming build up of sewerage pond scum. Trapped us into First "subscription", stole $149 from us. Has anyone discovered how to get money back? Is there a class action to join?”

“I purchased I watch charger a few weeks ago and total price including delivery was about $23 (as per my screenshoot). Then a few days Katerina I get another charge of $149. I have not purchased anything else and I have not lot my card so this charge is a fraud from Dick Smith. I have tried to contact them ever since I saw the charge and there is no way to call them. I wrote them an email and they sent me (an automated message by the looks of it) saying about some membership fees. I have never subscribed to any membership as I never need one plus tge highest membership fee they have in their email us $99 ahs I was charged $149. SCAM!!!”

“Scamed unauthorised $99.95 from my PayPal account. I did buy a product 21/7/23 for $24.95. To my horror shock, unauthorised $99 95 was taken out 5/8/23 by DickSmith/Kogan And if that wasn't bad enough PayPal won't do anything about it, be careful people!”

“Dick Smith scammed me for $149 membership, I didn't authorized the payment to be processed on my credit card. I only intended to purchase a small item cost $25 incl shipping. Very disappointed, going to report for fair trade, this is disgusting way of doing business”

““Tricked” into a annual subscription which I had no idea about. Despite asking to deactivating my account and asking them not to bill me 2 days ahead of their subscription “anniversary” the amount of NZD 149.00 was taken anyway. Several emails later and standard responses, they will not action my request/demand. In addition I tried to remove my credit card information, which they have kept, but there is no way of doing that despite following their instructions. The whole scam is designed to make customers give up in despair. But I will not. They have taken my money fraudulently and I want it back. I was pleased to see in the NZ Stuff news today an article reporting the same scam with many other customers having been scammed as well. Stay away from Dick Smith/ Kogan.. you will regret it if you do.”

“Same problem, got scammed for 99.00 as First membership two weeks after purchasing a set of earphone for 33.00. Totally ruined the reputation of the name!!!!!! Will never buy from them again.”

“I ordered a phone charger and two weeks later got a $149.00 charge on my credit card. What a scam. Can’t get hold of anyone by phone. Don’t order anything from Dick Smith. They need to be reported”

“I placed an order for a $618 air-conditioner, than cancelled the order within 28 minutes. i received a ticket advising acknowledgement of the cancellation. I have had 1 x phone call and 2 x tickets but dick smith is refusing to provide me a refund. I believe they have acted unprofessionally and perhaps unlawfully by failing to provide refund. The customer complaints officer that i spoke to , lied as he stated i would receive a refund the same day. I feel that i have been robbed .”

“I recently purchased an item that arrived damaged and did not have a adaptor /plug to use it . This makes this product unusable . I was also scammed by a $99 charge for something I did not subscribe to I opted out via their site and by email . however they still charged my account . very disappointed and will be reporting this scam to consumer watch dog.”
