“SCAM ALERT.. I bought one small $13.82 item from Dick Smith. Slow to arrive. Then they automatically charged me for a FIRST annual membership for $99.00. I am sure this is illegal in Australia under Consumer Protection laws. I am now fighting with "Customer Care" who clearly do not understand the phrase. It is like talking to a brick wall. DO NOT TOUCH THIS OFFENSIVE COMPANY.”

“I purchased I watch charger a few weeks ago and total price including delivery was about $23 (as per my screenshoot). Then a few days Katerina I get another charge of $149.
I have not purchased anything else and I have not lot my card so this charge is a fraud from Dick Smith. I have tried to contact them ever since I saw the charge and there is no way to call them. I wrote them an email and they sent me (an automated message by the looks of it) saying about some membership fees. I have never subscribed to any membership as I never need one plus tge highest membership fee they have in their email us $99 ahs I was charged $149.

““Tricked” into a annual subscription which I had no idea about. Despite asking to deactivating my account and asking them not to bill me 2 days ahead of their subscription “anniversary” the amount of NZD 149.00 was taken anyway. Several emails later and standard responses, they will not action my request/demand. In addition I tried to remove my credit card information, which they have kept, but there is no way of doing that despite following their instructions. The whole scam is designed to make customers give up in despair. But I will not. They have taken my money fraudulently and I want it back. I was pleased to see in the NZ Stuff news today an article reporting the same scam with many other customers having been scammed as well. Stay away from Dick Smith/ Kogan.. you will regret it if you do.”

“I placed an order for a $618 air-conditioner, than cancelled the order within 28 minutes. i received a ticket advising acknowledgement of the cancellation.
I have had 1 x phone call and 2 x tickets but dick smith is refusing to provide me a refund. I believe they have acted unprofessionally and perhaps unlawfully by failing to provide refund.
The customer complaints officer that i spoke to , lied as he stated i would receive a refund the same day.
I feel that i have been robbed .”
“I recently purchased an item that arrived damaged and did not have a adaptor /plug to use it . This makes this product unusable . I was also scammed by a $99 charge for something I did not subscribe to I opted out via their site and by email . however they still charged my account . very disappointed and will be reporting this scam to consumer watch dog.”

“I ordered some 12 volt batteries which were delivered without any issue.
Then I received an invoice for $99.00 from Dick Smith for a membership that I did not subscribe to. It must be a hidden pre-ticket box on the final payment.
I requested Dick Smith to cancel this membership. I also logged into their website, unsubscribed and again requested a refund.
They emailed me a ticket asking me to cancel my membership on the website which I had already completed. They do not read the emails I send. They just acknowledge with an email and lodge another ticket. Now I have 3 tickets in their system and still no refund. I am now contacting Paypal to refund, as I had not agreed to pay for a membership. Still waiting for an email from Dick Smith.”

They will automatically select for you to sign up to a subscription that will charge you $150 if you aren't careful. Their company is rotten. I have never had such a horrible experience with a company. If you read the terms and conditions of their FIRST subscription (if you can find them) you'll be horrified. Never purchasing from Dick Smith again and ensuring I tell everybody I know what a horrible company they are.”
