“Hemsworth wetherspoons needs a good steam clean, chairs all stained, tables sticky chewing gum under rim of table, base of table had dried food on god knows how long it has been there, they really should have a word with their cleaners.”
“Went for breakfast at Woodrow Wilson's Carlisle, decided on there Baco bitty and Sausage butty, service was quick, filing was very good, but all let down by very dry and poor quality bread.”
“Bull and stirrup chester stayed for one night had no captain Morgans or kraken all day and night Saturday breakfast no eggs benedict not very good for a popular pub and hotel when you can't order what you want and like”
“Food was quickly served but Luke warm so it had obviously been pre cooked and was left warming on the not so hot, hot plate. Breakfast muffin came with sliced plastic cheese no better than McDonald’s. Mushrooms were overcooked and shrivelled up. The biggest issue was the table was dirty. We cleaned it ourselves with hand sanitiser and tissues. Needless to say the tissues were grim! Enjoyed the refills of hot drinks and the staff were friendly and polite.”
“I thought the food and service was good at the Hatchet Inn Newbury. However, the place was in dire need of a good clean. Table and surroundings sticky dirty and tables left uncleare”
“Be very careful in Wetherspoons now.. If you pay by contactless card, they do not have a mobile payment machine only the static ones at the bar. My card was taken off me by staff and used to take payment at the bar.. I then realised that my card number AND the 3 digit pin number could be written down by ANYONE and they could have used it for fraud.... I will never give them my card EVER AGAIN.”
“Just been to local wetherspoons for 1st time since lockdown, had read online about what they were doing to combat the virus including extra staff and more table cleaning. Whilst I found the seating arrangements very satisfactory there was no one at the door allowing us in and during the hour we were there very little clearing or cleaning of table was carried out. I asked one of the staff about it and was told that because of the virus they could not have as many staff working????? and they were doing their best. My point is why put out all the things they are going to do to get customers back and then not do some of them.”
“Good value but be careful paying cash in Twickenham gareth the eager wannabe manager short changed me £5 and said that the ctv supported his view but it wasn't shown to me.”
“We are regular users of a variety of Witherspoon's pubs. Our local in Newton Abbot has a hard working crew and the normal very good value fare. A pity the tables take so long to clear at lunchtime. The clients start leaving around 1:15 but it is hard to find a clean and cleared table out of the dozen or so vacant at this time. A lot of the upholstered chairs are past due for a recover too. Maybe a tough leather look vinyl would stay smart longer. Just those two points keep the score for a pub/restaurant of this type down.”
“The drinks are cheap enough that you can see past some of the more 'eccentric' customers, but it's the staff service that needs attention. I fully accept they all work very hard, I am not calling them lazy by any means, but if I hear one more member of the bar staff ask "Who's next?" I will scream. Managing customers (who to serve next) is as important as how to pull a pint, but it's a skill Wetherspoons fails to teach it's staff.”
