Site is a complete scam. I'm trying to book a car. The first 30 options are literally from the same company. Economy Rent a Car, and Fox rent a car. One was created because of all the bad press of the other. They add $200 to the rental when you arrive. Then they double the standard 500 dollar deposit, then they try to ding you on the 1000 they held. Its a complete racket in every imaginable way. Unfortunately Canadian law is extremely lax when it comes to punishing corporations so these guys will likely rob society for a few more years before people stop going/using.

Terrible service if you try to cancel, they make what they can to avoid you and make the process exausting. After all I could't do it and quit, leaving my money behind.

CAREFUL SCAM! HIDDEN CHARGES. This site will indicate a rental price for you, and when you've paid they will tell you that there are more charges to pick up the car. I had to pay 50% more! Do not use this site

I rented a car in Montego Bay, Jamaica through Rentalcars.com. They confirmed a low rate and that was it. My flight was late on that day and I attempted to cancel the reservation and they received the cancellation. When I arrived in Montego Bay, I contacted them and was informed that the rental charge was double what was quoted - so I did not pick up the car as this was clearly a bait-and-switch operation. Three days later they said they could not cancel the reservation and were billing me for the entire week. I have since disputed this transaction with my credit card company. Do not do business with this company - they are not reputable and indulge in a bait-and-switch operation

3 hour wait at San Jose Airport due to Dollar Rental having no cars. Dollar stated it is due to RentalCars.com overbooked without checking inventory. Tried to speak to a Rentalcars.com manager or supervisor but no one came to the phone. Stated it is their policy not to have them speak on the phone. Asked how to file a complaint, stated I had to wait until the rental was completed. There is no way to submit a complaint immediately. Gave no compensation for the 3 hour delay. I will never use Rentalcars.com again or Priceline.com which according to Dollar is the same.

I recently rented a vehicle through rentalcars.com. Was hit with multiple extra fees/taxes at the rental counter. When i booked I saw Rental TOTAL xxx$. This was not the case. An extra $165 was added at the rental counter. Airport fee, tax, + other fees. Will never book with an agent again. Always through the rental company from now on. At least you know what the total will be.

I showed up at 3am at Las Americas in Santo Domingo. Nobody at Budget desk. It never occurred to me to call RentalCars on the spot to describe the unexpected situation (my only mistake; my mistake nevertheless). I was tired and just needed a car (that I ended up getting from a different shop). Getting in touch with RentalCars later was painful; they basically implied that I was lying (I provided all the evidence I could; just didn't have a picture of the empty Budget desk) . I fully prepaid to RentalCars a few weeks before that; so, I lost 100% of my money on top of being politely told that I was lying. Folks, be careful ... Advice from someone who's got burned a few times: whenever you can rent directly from a rental shop, do so. Skip the middlemen like RentalCars. They provide no value added; and when there is an issue, you're almost always on your own. The actual rental shop will always send you back to talk to them since they're the folks you booked with (and good luck with that)

I made a reservation to pick up a car at Jacksonville Airport (FL) at 11 pm (Feb 2023) and paid it in advance ($227 USD) just to ensure I had no issues with a night arrival. My flight arrived at 11:25 pm. When I got to the counter, the rental car agency said they had no cars available because of some military convention most of the day. In fact, none of the rental car agencies at the airport had any cars. I showed them my prepaid rental receipt/voucher, but since I rented through Rentalcars.com they asked me to contact Rentalcars.com to explain the situation, and I would get a refund because they did not have any available cars. I had to contact Rentalcars.com several times through online chat, phone calls, and email correspondence to ask for my refund. After they verified all the information I provided, they refused (June 2023) to refund my money because my flight arrived 25 minutes past the reservation time. In over 35 years of renting cars, I have never had an issue with arriving an hour before or an hour after, let alone for 25 minutes!!! I have to agree with other reviews when they say Rentalcars.com does not care about customer service or customer satisfaction, but only about making a buck. I will never even consider using their services again!

Horrible company! I strongly advise you not to rent from these scammers. Go directly to the car rental companies you would be doing yourself a favor!

I rented a car with them through lastminute. They sent me instructions to pick up the car with a credit or debit card. At the airport, they refused to give me the car because they only wanted the credit card. I asked for a full refund, and they denied it. Even though their own customer service confirmed to me that the debit card was possible following their terms and conditions. this is their answer: "We inform you that there is no refund option, we can no longer provide further assistance in this case. I can assure you that we have considered the points you have raised. However, although I understand that it is a disappointment, we cannot change our decision." the points I raised were that I have been denied the card even if I follow their instructions to the letter. I am now going via legal channels!!

Booked and paid for 2 reservations and due to incompetence or system failure the insurance portion of the paid for reservations were cancelled and refunded. Customer service has employed incompetent people grossly incapable of rectifying the situation and refuse to transfer the call to a manager and hang up the phone. Avoid these people.

Avoid. Family holiday in Greece nearly ruined by deceitful practice from rentalcars.com. Local car rental company incurred in unacceptable behaviour on arrival, late in the night. Other customers also angry and in queue. Several children present. rentalcars.com initially agrees to my complain and refund. Then they begin putting new conditions, including that I should rent a new car from them for refund. I agree and book, and then new conditions begin to crop up in our email exchange (discounts, 24-hour deadline, and finally no refund). I will be looking for settlement and official complaint until the matter is fully and fairly publicized. While exchanging with rentalcars.com I was passed from one customer service advisor to another (6-7 in total, including online chats and emails). It is simply cheap and despicable that our savings end up in the hands of unscrupulous brokers when we are most vulnerable, with our families, trying to have a well-deserved break. I will go as far as needed.

It is the worst company It is the worst company. They cooperate with the scam rent-a-car companies and in case of problems, they will not be with their customer but will cover that scam car rental company. Stay away!!!

Avoid avoid avoid!!! Absolutely scammers!!! When I booked the car, I tried to filter the cars by my age (29 yrs old). I assumed that the filter worked well, so I selected a car and booked it. After I finished my booking, I saw in the instruction, they say you must be over 30 years old to drive this car. I contacted rentalcars, they wanted to charge me 40 pounds to change the booking. I dialled in to the car company (Enterprise), it turns out that 29 years old is actually fine. On the day to picked up my car, Enterprise cannot verify me in the British Voting system, which is weird since I've been living at the address for nearly three years, I even received the voting letter months ago. Because of that, Enterprise cannot give me the car. So I called Rentalcars again. They refused to either let me amend or refund my booking. I went to another car rental shop next door, I successfully picked up a car there. No problem and quick progress. After that, I tried to contact to RentalCars again to ask my money back, they are bullies! They use all these conditions which are built by themselves to take as much money from customers as they can!!! Heartless people, you cannot make any sense to them, all they want is MONEY. Avoid this website!!!

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!! Do not use this place to get a rental. They have horrible rental car agencies! Our flight was delayed and I called the rental car agency to tell them that we would be delayed and what time we would be arriving. The agent said it was fine. Once we landed we found out it was closed. We called rentalcar.com to get it cancelled and refunded and they refuse to do so. They said we should have called them last night and asked for a new agency. They are not helpful and when I got angry and asked for a manager, the guy on the phone hung up on me. They are not even in the US! THEY ARE A SCAM!!!! They won't refund you! DO NOT USE!!!

Was charged on my credit card in full for rental. When we went to pick up car, they then charged us 3x the amount, yet we already paid?! Tried to call to make it right and got the runaround. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THEM!!!

Warning! Book directly throw the Car rentav firm. Rentalcars will try to trick you. I got the wrong car but rentalcars refuse to replace. have called 5 times, emailed as many times, chatted etc. they refer all the time to get money back. completely dishonest company

Never trust and Hire Rentalcars and snap cars if you go to new Zealand for a trip. I went to Queenstown recently and my flight was delayed by 40 mins and they say the office close by 5 pm. I phoned them by 5.01 pm and my two days rental + insurance cost nearly 400$ was a loss to me and they cooly say this without a shame.
