I have bought and sold on ThredUp several times, but I'm done. Too many times I've sent brand new items they have deemed "ineligible for earnings," which means they'll still sell them, but I will get no commission. How they decide this, no idea because they still put a decent price on these items. Another time I sent in a pants and top set. Very unique design, obviously a set. They listed just the pants - shirt nowhere to be found. Takes months to process a clean out bag, fees are outrageous, sellers earn pennies (if that) and now they're discontinuing their points / rewards program. There's nothing that makes selling on ThredUp worth it. Donate to a local charity instead.

Thredup used to be a decent place to but and sell clothing but not anymore. The quality of the people inspecting the items is poor. I bought a purse that was labeled 100 leather. I knew it wasn't when I received it and there was a label perfectly clear that said 100 percent PVC. I sent in a high quality suede jacket to sell, and never saw it listed. After spending much time on the chat to find out what happened, I was informed it was ineligible because it didn't have a size. This was produced in another county so the size label was in a different language. They told me there is no way to get it back. After this last debacle I will shop and sell elsewhere.

They basically collect your brand name expensive clothing that is in excellent condition and sell it for you. They create a very short window of time before they "discard" it as it is past the window of time for selling in consignment. AKA continuing to list your items to sell for 100% profit. Not to mention that they give you a tiny fraction, ex. $19.97 for items they sold for over$100 to then hit you with a "fee" that ends up paying you a total of $4.99. I think the 80+% should cover the fees. It is a rip off for sure. I sent retail value at purchase time about $3,000 of clothing and received $4.99. it is a greedy infrastructure that is a complete scam. Just give your clothes away to a thrift market that will actually use the funds for charity. This operation is profit-based and their" clean- outs" only truly are profitable for them. I also recently experienced items that were "new with tags" and they were definitely not new. The tags had no brand or store name on them and were very generic and the items of clothing were definitely worn. Gently worn mind you but not new with tags. What an absolute SCAM!!! It is sad too because I actually was enjoying purchasing items. Keep in mind though that when you purchase something you pay $30 for it and then when you return it after the"return label fee of $10.99" the penalty to return you get back maybe 1/4 to 1/2 of what you originally paid for the item that is oftentimes described incorrectly in the website. That is just my two cents, take it as you will.

I sent in my bag in August and received a confirmation that it was received. It has never shown up in my clean outs and I have been trying to straighten this out with them, I have contacted them at least 8 times and gotten the run around and no service. I have sent them a copy of their receipt. They keep sending the same silly responses. I will never deal with them again unless they find my bag or reimburse me for the contents. I urge you to be very cautious dealing with them. In addition their payouts have gotten ridiculously low. Beware of them.

Don't waste your time sending clothing to Thred up. . You won't get anything for your effort . They will take your clothing and when you are done paying the fees. You will have no money. I sent in 2 huge bags of top brand , many still with tags on. Only 8 items were listed. NEVER AGAIN !

Don't buy from Thredup unless you want to roll the dice with your money. I've now purchased dozens of pieces of clothing from them (I kept telling myself I would give them "one more try"). Not one item I've received from Thredup has ever been entirely accurately described. The measurements are always wrong, and the quality grading is practically arbitrary (I've received items advertised as "excellent" condition that arrived with multiple 4-inch diameter stains). This wouldn't be so bad if the company actually stood behind their stated quality and accuracy guarantees, but they don't. If one tries to return an item that they incorrectly described, first they try to compel you to keep it in exchange for some tiny amount of credit that expires in 2 weeks. If you persist in the return attempt, they'll give you a refund, but they'll a) charge you for return shipping, AND b) refund less than what you originally paid, with no justification or explanation. (This is aside from the "return processing fee," which they waive for items that were inaccurately described.) Basically, if you ever wish to return something--even when it was THEIR fault that the item didn't work for you--you're going to lose money. Don't trust the guarantees.

Do not send your clothes to thread up. They will low ball your price. You won't make any money. Then if you want your clothes sent back they charge you. A scam company ay best. I sent them 600 worth of clothes and only made 45 bucks.

Do NOT see on ThredUP. I've sent in 120lbs. of NWT and/or excellent condition items (Lilly Pulitzer, Michael Kors, etc.) and only made $350 of that thousands and thousands worth of clothes. Some of the NWT items were not listed as such (affecting the price/value). SO many items that they clearly sold (some of which were sold for over $20/each) were not eligible for payment.

Ordered dresses for labor day weekend. They refunded my order without an explanation and had to jump through hoops to get to a person. They accused me of having multiple accounts that didn’t belong to me and said thats why they cancelled the order for the coupon. I explained it to them, they admitted their error but refused to just simply reorder the listing telling me to wait 24 hours to reorder it myself. Told them I would take my money they didn’t want elsewhere. Very unprofessional business.

Thredup used to be a spectacular way to buy and sell your used clothing. But not now! I have been shopping Thredup for about 10 years. It has consistently gotten greedier and greedier. They are constantly changing their policies to benefit themselves. I sent a HUGE bag of clothing which they did sell for me but kept ALL the profit! Then I see they changed their policy again and did not accept any of the brands of clothing I sent. (90% of the items I had originally purchased from them). I am done. Hello Poshmark. Goodbye greedy Thredup.

Buyer beware! Of three items I ordered from Thredup, two are NOT what the information listed said they were. Both are on final sale, so even though the listing was incorrect, I can’t return the items. Also, this is not the first time I’ve ordered Thredup items that are NOT what the information listed said they were. I will not shop here anymore. Practically new, shows no obvious signs of being worn or washed. Actually this item is covered with hair, inside and out. Thredup product 170814217 Size 4 (Petite) Cardigan Actually this item is a Petite Medium Thredup product 156346066

Sent in several items. DIdn't realize once they priced things most would sell with a 47% discount which meant I received next to nothing! Several items did not sell in 30 days so ThreadUp keeps them and continues to offer them for sale; of course these were the most expensive items! With over 35 items sent in including several name brand items with tags I only received $20.00!! DO NOT SEND IN YOUR CLOTHES if you actually want to make money

They are not transparent about the process and that you have to pay to get an item back.

I saw some items I wanted at a nice price. Filled my cart, paid through PayPal they charged me double the price! I contacted them, they were, sorry can't do anything! Don't show me marked down prices and then charge full price! This is the second time I've had issues with this place. Just saying the measurements are all wrong on the jeans. I had to take pictures with actual measuring tape showing they got them all wrong, in order for them to take the return without charging me! Not impressed!👎👎👎

I tried to make changes on prices and other things they claimed I could control and I was not able to do so thru their system. I asked for assistance and did not get any. It's like they hijack your clothes and sell them however they feel and pay you pennies without your permission. Also when I went to cash out now they are trying to make me use the money that is mine to buy from their site. This is not legal. Don't trust them with your items

I placed my order on June 5, 2024 and it shipped on June 9, 2024. Tracking updated every couple days, but there has been no update to the tracking since June 14, 2024 and today is June 22, 2024. ThredUp had estimated my order to arrive by June 20 so when there had been no tracking update I reached out via chat on June 20. I was told they would email FedEx and email me when they had an update. They emailed me today saying they were still waiting and for me to let them know if the package was received. It hasn’t been and tracking still hasn’t updated. I replied back letting her know all the scheduled delivery dates FedEx has listed for this package since June 12 and that there still wasn’t any updates on the tracking since the 14th. I asked if I could please have my money refunded because it seems to me that my package is lost since it’s been so long without an update on the tracking. She replied back and told me I have to wait seven BUSINESS days and to reach out to them by the end of business on June 25. Just to chat with them the first time I had to wait over 45 minutes to get connected with someone so it looks like I’m going to waste another 45+ minutes on June 25 to ask for a refund because I don’t have much faith in the tracking updating or the order to suddenly arrive and be delivered without tracking updates.

They cancelled my order without any reason. Said I had to message them to ask why. This in itself is completely ridiculous, but I did want to know why I lost at least 2 hours of my life looking on their site for nothing. They didn't even answer me. I'm not trying to make another order if I don't even know what's wrong, but I'm really annoyed because I had ordered 5 or 6 things which I did want. I'll find them somewhere else, I'm sure. Like Mercari, Poshmark or someone else.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Extremely unreliable company. I placed an order of almost $100 and immediately realized it was going to an old address. There was no option to cancel so I quickly went to the chat support that instructed me to email support which I did. The next day the request was ignored and the order was shipped to the old address. When I contacted FedEx, they told me that the shipping method didn't allow for address updates. The company also got back to me three days later saying they could only help before the order is shipped, despite me doing so and that request being unanswered. So basically this company offers no protection for your orders regardless of the amount you spend.

Recently they lost a bag of designer clothing I sent them for selling. I stuffed the bag with my quality clothes and it was my first time attempting to sell with them. Julia the correspondent refused to file a claim through federal express. I was unable to do so because the smart label they sent me to ship the clothes to them belonged to thred up, so I couldn’t file claim on my end. Julia claims the package was lost but provided no claim number. I believe she never took the time to investigate properly and this is why she doesn’t provide a claim number
