It is good, so far I like 2 of the classes and not too thrilled witho 2 others I tried. But if you sign up for all classes there are a lot to choose from.

My opinion, so far, is mixed. I like the idea of BBX Maestro. But the first course I purchased was not what I expected it to be from the spin your promo copy presented. I've requested a refund, but you haven't responded to that request, yet. I'll give y'all another try, but not without some skepticism at this point.

This educational platform is heavy on food and beverage. Somewhat lacking depth on inter personal training.

With BBC Maestro's vibe, I'm still feeling around the overall impact of the presenter's expertise. I'll think about it.

Hi Nigel, Thanks so much for your review. We value every customer and want to make sure you have a great experience with BBC Maestro. I'm keen to know more about the videos that have been taken down, so can you let me know the Maestro name/topic and any more details you remember about them? I don't believe we have removed video content from our platform in the last year or more. On occasion, we add video lessons to a course (bonus content) but we don't remove lessons. None of our courses have been removed from the platform since they launched, even our older courses. Look forward to hearing from you :) Rebecca

Good product but learning experience needs to be better. I've been using it on and off for a year, found it handy to dip in and out of lessons. Affordable way to get taught from experts in their field. Felt the video search tools could be better and pdf course notes are clunky to use on a mobile device.

I really like the content and the scope of this app however the costing is very heavy ! I will sadly not be renewing on that basis as I do not see how the cost relates to the value of the content.

Completed Jonathan Yeo's course on portrait painting. It is really more a course on the philosophy of portrait painting, and doesn't really delve into how to do portrait painting. Educational and entertaining, thoughtful and insightful but doesn't really focus on helping a novice

The “courses” I’ve tried so far have turned out to be more like a lesson or two chopped into very short snippets. Lacking in the depth I expected, and a bit disappointing. At the moment I cannot see myself renewing the subscription if I find the same in other “courses”.

Only so far into my portrait painting course and inspired by Jonathan’s artwork. However I would have preferred getting in to a more practical level earlier on. It’s felt like more of a talk with observing his artwork more as a background, with too little explanation on his chosen techniques and practice. I’m sticking with it to discover more.

I bought a subscription to Maestro on the back of the 'course' by Jonathon Yeo, an unbelievably talented artist. It was beautifully shot and very well directed for a documentary. I say documentary because that is what it was and this was confirmed in one of the latter 'lessons' by the sitter who made the comment himself. Did I learn any more than I would have done on a 30 minute You Tube video? No. There was not a single demonstration that I can recall that covered colour mixing for instance. He is in the very nice situation to have his canvasses made for him so no demonstration of how to prepare a canvas just a discussion. It hasn't clouded my opinion of a very nice man who has a gift. The dog training course, however, has been very good with definite subjects and clear demonstrations. Marco Pierre white is a bit annoying but I have picked up some interesting tips from what is a glorified cookery programme. In my humble opinion the courses would be better served by a teacher from a respected college or university that covers the subject. I have doubts that I would renew my subscription.

It’s not really practical enough. Interesting but not really learning much. So. For example. Jonathan Yeo talks about prepping his canvas using layers and stains. I kept hoping he would show one being prepped - or at least explain in detail the materials and process. Half way through and still hoping. It does not need to be like a lesson - but needs some clear practical takeaways. And prepping the canvas is clearly a key part of his process.

Hi Jo, Thanks for your review. We value every BBC Maestro customer, and really value your feedback. I subscribed to BBC Maestro as I was particularly interested in the work of Ragan Chategee and Tim Spectre. I had hoped that there would be new and more detailed information but there is nothing new that I haven't already read or heard on free podcasts. Very disappointed. I will look at the vegetarian cooking and bread- making courses, and hope to get some value from those.

Signed up in order to see Rankin on photography. The course was nothing special and I am not sure who it was aimed at. I took advantage of a 40% discount special offer. Glad I didn't pay full price! Would not recommend. Maybe other courses are better.

I had hoped for more detailed skills training about how to use studio lights for portrait photography to create different effects. I felt that this was rather glossed over. I feel that the course was directed towards young people who have almost no knowledge of how the camera works, or towards others who are hoping to go professional. And so I think it fell between two stools. As an older amateur photographer who has used film, DSLR and now mirrorless and phone cameras for over 40 years (including darkroom and modern digital editing skills) there was not a lot for me to learn on the technical side. However, for me, the crucial learning point was the importance of connecting with your subject/model, if you hope to achieve a meaningful image that means something to the model, yourself as the photographer, and potentially to a wider audience. I found the interviews with other professional photographers very interesting and I appreciate having gained an insight into Rankin's collaborative way of working. This was heart-warming, as there are rather too many photographers who are exploitative in how they achieve their images.

I've been really enjoying the course, but have got to lesson #9 and cannot access it. You seem to want me to purchase it again. Lesson 9 is where Tim Spector really starts to explain what to do, so I've only heard the background so far
