Thank you for your review. Our eSIMs are data only and not designed for traditional calls or SMS. We do try very hard to make that clear on our website and our main header reads "Cheap Global eSIM Data Roaming Packages".
However, your can send and receive calls and messages using apps like WhatsApp and Facetime as these use data.

“Purchased easy sim prior to a trip to Portugal. I received a confirmation email and assumed I was good to go. 2 days into my trip I received a text to say the easy sim was active. After my trip I discovered I had incurred charges for roaming as it took easy sim 4 days to activate. Doubt I’ll use this again.”

I can see you selected your eSIM for Mobile Data on the 23rd of February and that is when you started using data. Your eSIM was active throughout your stay in Portugal from the 23rd. We do recommend you switch off your Primary SIM while travelling and if you had done that, your home network provider could NOT charge you for roaming. “Update. So after speaking to customer service I'm upgrading to a 3 star review. They are definitely one of the easiest to buy from and their customer service is very good. I would recommend downloading a guide before you travel though in case you have issues using it.
So it was easy to buy. Setting it up was a painful experience. Setting it up on instructions provided by easysim was difficult as the qr code they provided wouldn't scan properly due to its shape. However I was able to get past all those and set it up.”

“Great concept, but needs improvement in a couple of areas:-
I never knew how much data I'd used on a daily basis. (It would be great to have an app that shows usage from your allowance.)
It would also be useful to have calling other than through WhatsApp. I'd be willing to pay extra for this facility, perhaps an allowance for minutes, as with data. Introduce these changes and I'd rate at 5*. However I will use easySim for my next USA trip regardless.”

If you need to make or receive calls using your mobile/cellular number, you can leave your Primary (home) SIM selected for calls and SMS but your home network provider may charge you for calls and SMS while roaming.
