For future reference, our eSIMs are data only and not designed for traditional phone calls and SMS. However, you can make calls and send messages on apps like Facetime and WhatsApp as these use data.
If you need to make calls using your mobile/cellular number, you can select your Primary SIM for calls and SMS but your home mobile network provider may charge you for calls and SMS while roaming - so, we recommend you switch it off while travelling.

“Purchased for use in Portugal. After a car breakdown was unable to connect to the the local contact or the UK. After contact from Easysim I was mistaken and did not realise that you could not use the sim for mobile phone calls in Portugal and are for data only. On using the easysim for data, I had no problem and it worked fine. Now I know the limitations of the sim I would certainly use them again in Portugal. The company responded to my review very quickly and in a pleasant manner. I have only given four stars as the sim does not include making local calls, which I was not clear about on purchase. Our eSIMs are 'data only' and not designed for traditional calls but you can make calls using apps like WhatsApp and Facetime because they use data. In an emergency, you can switch your Primary SIM on to make a call but your home network provider may charge you for that call.

“Everything worked well except the instruction to scan the QR code to activate, I needed another device to open up my email and then scan with my phone. I was over cautious and didnt use all my data but very easy to swap countries as i travelled.”
