“The cross I ordered is much smaller than on the picture. Actually so small that the pattern and the engravements cannot be read. The chain is super thin. I assume its worth about 25% of what I paid. Maybe less. Never again...”
“The company, Glencara who are based in Galway profess to make Hand made Irish Jewellery from Dunguaire Castle since 1978.
I have recently found out that Dunguaire Castle is the property of Galway County Council and that the owners of Glencara used to run some market stall there once a week. I am just one of the many hundreds of people who have been caught out by an elaborate online jewellery fraud which is being run from Galway and Belfast in Ireland.
Shortly after paying for a claddagh ring on glencara site, I had a feeling that something wasn't right and decided that I should check online reviews again, about Glencara and was shocked to find hundreds if not thousands of very negative reviews about delivery, refunds and quality of the jewelry given by this company Glencara. I was really deflated, and stressed so decided to email them telling them that I wanted an immediate refund, however they sent a reply telling me that the ring would be dispatched on the 1st of November. I mailed them again trying to have this order cancelled and a refund applied but they totally ignored my requests regarding the refund. The ring arrived on November 12th along with a free, metal chromed piece of cheap costume jewellery as a free gift. I opened the box to see a very thin, insignificant ring unlike that which was described on their website. I had just paid €287.00 for something that resembled costume jewellery. I then checked for hallmarking inside the ring and noticed that the ring was stamped with the numerals 925, however the quality of the stamp compared to other silver and gold jewellery we had made me suspicious. I decided to get in touch with Dublin Castle Assay office and sent them a picture of the 925 stamp.
The very next day I received an email from Dublin Castle Assay office telling me that the photographed item did not appear to be hallmarked, adding that, By Statute, all precious metals sold in Ireland, must bear an Irish Hallmark or an International Convention Hallmark, applied by an Independent body in another Member State of the EU that provides equivalent information to the marks referred to in the Irish Legislation.
I emailed Glencara and asked them for an explanation, I never got a reply. I've since tried to contact Glencara but my messages are not being answered. I have since found out that Glencara Import their jewellery from Asia, it is simply repackaged in Ireland and sent to each customer with an Irish postmark. this company are an international operation selling their Jewellery around the world with thousands of complaints from customers in the UK, Ireland, United States, Canada, Australia amongst other places. The registered address which I believe to be a virtual office is: Unit 12, Glenrock Business Park, Ballybrit, Galway. Tel: 091 763 921. Although they do have a virtual office in Belfast and I believe in the USA too.”
“Achtung Betrug!!
“Item in post, then email to say.mistake item not a available.

“Just like everyone else I was scammed. Ruth is useless. They don't have items in stock and won't help you by email.
Don't waste your time or energy.
Scammers my story is the same as others posted. They should be shut down.”
“Customer service absolutely appalling. Item not delivered. Took them weeks to reply about it and now wont give a refund even though item never arrived.”
This order was sent twice to Mexico from Ireland ,once without tracking and once tracked with registered post. It was refunded when the second one was sent also
Glencara
“This is the MOST disgraceful company on the face of the earth. How can people do this. People are literally losing hundreds of Euro on this silly scam. It’s not like a page selling dodgy electronics. It is actually selling sentimental items to people at high prices and not delivering!! Then keeping the money!! Please please please do not buy from this company. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour!!!!!!”
“Ordered a Valentine gift and paid extra postage to ensure guaranteed delivery on Thursday 11th Feb. No delivery as yet and I have now bought alternative gifts. Helpline refers you to the email address. Four emails sent without reply!!! It appears this company was quoting guaranteed delivery dates simply to secure more online orders prior to Valentines day. GUARANTEED DELIVERY FOR VALENTINES DAY. marked in red across the website, even with standard postage when I ordered ! Recommend you look elsewhere!”
“Ordered as a Christmas present a number of item. The main item was delayed. When it arrived it was too small so I returned it at my own expense. The 2nd ring came back too small and felt exactly the same size. It to was returned and I asked its size to be checked with no reply. They sent a ring sizer when I took pics and a vid of applied. I asked the 2nd ring to be checked for size as I felt it was the same size as the initial ring. They now have my ring and after numerous emails won’t reply. Disappointing service. It’s now the 13th Feb and my girlfriend still hasn’t worn her main Christmas present.”
“Looks great on the website. In my case what I actually got was like something from a Christmas craker .. buyer beware!!!!!Still waiting on a refund...”
“AVOID
Scam of a company. Refused a refund and ignored all further emails, got a chargeback from my bank.
Order a chain to be delivered 4 days later, never arrived. Followed up with an email, and was informed it was posted and would be here. A week past and emailed and said it was posted, following day emailed again for follow up and said it wasn't ready and would be posted following day. I asked for a refund as it was well over th expected delivery date and too late for what I needed it for. All correspondence was ignored by this fraudulent company. Avoid at all costs ,the phone number never rings either. The addresses don't match.such a scam.”
“Do not use this company!!!
Firstly they said they had shipped my item.
2 days later they said it wasn't in stock?
I chose another item and they did not refund the difference (the 2nd choice was cheaper).
No item arrived.
It took me 3 weeks to get a response from customer services.
They blamed Covid for post however they could not show me proof of posting.
NONE of their numbers work, they do not have a fixed address and are not an Irish Jewellers.
They said they sent me a replacement.
3 weeks on and it is still not there.
I have had no response from customer service,, I have no been refunded and I have no item. No receipt has been shown so I can only assume that the items have never been sent.
Was looking to use this place for wedding favours, thank goodness we learnt from 1 item instead of 10!
Terrible customer service, zero assistance and they are basically thieves. I have re ordered with Claggagh Jewellers in Galway online - a real jewellers that actually sends you the items you pay for.
I have contacted trading standards as during these times especially every penny is counted and to not send an item and take the money is digusting!”
“Returned ring for a bigger size 2/1/21, emailed several times ,no response! Can’t get to speak to anyone, then got one response to say delivery was 26/27th jan ! Still waiting I have asked for refund but no reply”
“If I could give them negative stars I would. Either they're the most incompetent company I've ever dealt with or shysters. I ordered 3 pairs of earrings and a necklace, spent a fair amount of money, on the day after Thanksgiving and only received one pair of earrings prior to Christmas. Finally received my wife's necklace a week and half later, but poor quality for the money. And now still waiting for the other 2 pairs of earrings. Purchase at your own risk!”
“Never delivered my ring. Ordered and charged 12/2, still not here. Sent me an email that it was delivered, but it wasn’t. Then said, oh we made a mistake should be delivered shortly. Lies from the beginning, avoid at all costs, total scam company!”
“DON'T ORDER/DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE
I ordered a ring from Glencara on December 17, 2020. In their shipping section they include the following: "USA & Canada: 1-2 days with Fedex (Guaranteed) (Next day to East coast of USA per map at end). 3-5 Business days with **** First-Class mail. 3-10 business days with Free Priority Airmail ". I paid the extra cost for expedited shipping. I contacted Glencara to ask the status within the expedited timeframe, they responded that my ring was handmade (bull****) and that it was going through quality control, but that they could expedite a silver one as a placeholder until my gold one was ready. I responded that "No, I just want what I paid for". I received the silver one the next day!! I have attempted to get in contact with Glencara at least six to eight times since then and have not received any response. My next steps are to submit a fraudulent claim to VISA, and post this on every medium that I can so others are not scammed.”
