I had a minor accident, and asked for in lieu payment for the damage, because their claims team wanted to take my car away, although it was only a minor damage and I needed my car to drive around, without having to wait for days until they finally provide me with a courtesy car.
It has now been more than a month and I still have not received anything. My last email went unanswered for 11 days.
We buy car insurance for exactly moments like this - when we had an accident and we want for things to be covered. Well, not with Marshmallow.

Manipulative cheap tactics to make you cancel the policy.
They don't commit to the payment that they offered and then for no fair reason they increase the policy price without your approval and if you refused and cancelled you policy they charge you expensive cancellation fees , and they don't even commit to the fees they puplish , they charged me 128 pound for cancellation although they said the fees are 100 only.
They refused to accept NCD proof from another insurance company in UK also

This company is awful and tried to deny my claim and put me in tens of thousands of pounds in debt.
It was only after the intervention of the financial ombudsman and over a year that my claim was successful. They thought it every step of the way and attempted to ruin me.
Words cannot describe how grateful I am to the Financial Ombudsman Service for their help.
Please if there's anything I do in this life that's good, I want it to be that I prevent at least one person from making the same mistake as me.

“Took the initial payment, then started asking for ID verification - fair enough, I tried uploading it, that didn't work, contacting them proved useless.
Few days later I received a message telling me the ID verification failed and my policy has been cancelled, so I had to get a policy with a different provider - which cost me extra £40 per month due to urgency.
Finally, just got an email from them telling me that as far as they can see, the policy is still active, which is of no use to me now, since I already took out insurance with another company.
Why did they take my money if they haven't completed the checks yet? As always, when something is my problem, it's my problem, when it's their problem, it becomes OUR problem.”
“AVOID THIESE AT ALL COSTS. I’ve been waiting for them to pay my lease company since my car was hit whilst it was parked up since June. In the meantime I’m still having to pay my monthly lease on a car I don’t have. Trying to speak to anyone is impossible and every time you email them they ask you for the same information even though they have a reference number. They employ severe delay tactics to pay out so if you’re wanting car insurance that will pay out after an accident that wasn’t your fault then do not give Marshmallow your money. Totally unprofessional. I’m complaining to the ombudsman tomorrow.”
“A year ago, a friend of mine took out a car insurance policy. As she didn't have any money on her card, she asked me I paid for it. Ten months later her car broke down and she didn't use it. Two months later, my account was charged for the insurance. The amount was much higher than last year. I applied to Marshmallow with a request to return the money and cancel the insurance, as the car is not running and I am not the owner of the car. As a result, they spent the whole day writing all sorts of excuses and told me to find out with the owner of the car. I contacted my friend and she said that she did not order insurance, but the insurance company decided to take money from my card and much more than last year. Why did the price of insurance go up? There were no insurance claims for a year. Anyway, I got some of my money back with difficulty. I spent a lot of time and nerves to get my money back. They refunded me less as they felt I should incur at least administrative costs. The worst company. I would not advise anyone and will avoid it myself.”

“This company has a notorious reputation when it comes to auto-renewals. I’ve been trying to contact them for the past two months to cancel mine, but they only allow communication via live chat. Despite requesting through the chat to stop the auto-renewal after finding a better deal elsewhere, they took no action. Now, whenever I try to reach them again, my chat is immediately closed with the message that a previous conversation is still open. I have no idea how to stop the auto-renewal, and although I’ve taken up a new insurance policy, I’m worried they may still cause issues. I would strongly advise avoiding this company at all costs.”
“This is one hell of a horror story with Marshmallow insurance
We had an accident at the beginning of June, don't get me started on the 6 hours wait for the truck to pick our vehicle up, or the fact that I couldn't find the insurance as they're stupid enough not to have any words related to car insurance or your number plates sent to your emails for you to find them at the time of accident. These are minor issues.
The horror started when we wanted our courtesy car. They said they can only give it to us when inspected by repair garage.
They initially said the car is most likely written off.
It took them 6 weeks to deliver it to repair/inspection garage, where they said it's been deemed repairable, and the garage said they've been instructured not to give us one, it took another 10 days to give us a courtesy car to sort out the confusion on Marshamllow's part.
Then while using the car on a short trip, the repair company called to say they've been told the car is written off and needs to be returned within 48 hours otherwise else...
HORRIBLE
So we returned early and handed over the car. Now we need to contact them so they let our lease company about it to sort it out for us to stop paying insurance and lease fee of the car.
1 week has passed and they don't respond to anything
This is CRIMINAL.
AVOID at any COST.
Update: More than 4 months of paying the insurance instalments and car finance and still not settled, they keep going back and forth, taking long to answer, asking for a V5 which finance company refuses to provide and so many other issues.”
“They are scammers you have to be aware!!!, they cancelled my insurance without any justification, and i they replied to me after 2 days via chat saying it's my fault i did not upload documents before the deadline, whilst I have email confirmation from them before the deadline thanking me for uploading all the needed documents and I don't need to do anything else. they then faked an email that was never sent to me saying that we sent this to you 7 days ago whilst the one i recieved was totally different and never mentioned cancellation it only mentioned an increase in price and was from a different person. now they say we can't do anything about it and we logged a complaint for you but nothing is likely to happen and they charged me a £130 cancellation fee and they can't cover me anymore because i had an insurance company cancel on me and put me in a very bad situation. I'd be 100% careful when dealing with these fraud scammers!”
