“The information provided by Finn and Solar quotes was great. The quoting system was a little hit and miss. Of the three expected quotes I received one. I then organised a couple of other reputable companies in my area and made my choice from there. Upon choosing my installer I informed solar quotes only one of their recommended companies bothered to make contact. I then heard from one of the other companies recommended by solar quotes but by the time they contacted me I had already decided upon my installer and paid a deposit. I see the issue being more with the companies solar quotes are recommending than it being solar quotes themselves but it did dilute the efficiency of the whole process to an extent.”

If you have a 2 story house and put solar panels on the roof you need to factor in the cost of some serious bird proofing, pigeons mainly. They love living under panels, the solar installers don’t mention it, even those recommended here, and the amount of noise they make on a steel roof is nothing short of unbelievable. They start thrashing around just before sun rise and keep it up for 4 hours or more. If you don’t want to risk your neck climbing on your 2 story roof yourself then it’s about $2k to get proper bird proofing done. That’s a big hit to your return on investment.
More should be included about this on the solar quotes website and installers should be offering bird proofing on all 2 story installs. Unfortunately I’ve learned the hard way”

However I found another local installer (who is on the SolarQuotes site) who actually came out and also was the most cost competitive and who I felt most comfortable about. I went with them.
