“I wasn't happy that Solar Quotes didn't indicate to me that if anyone contacted me about quote they would have to pay quite a lot of money. As I was only inquiring, not planning to purchase for quite a while if at all, I felt bad that people contacted me, had to pay to do that, and didn't end up with a customer. I would not have gone ahead with my request if I'd known as I was not a serious enough inquirer.”
Hi Louise,
Thanks for taking the time to review our service. To address your feedback:
- We charge installers ~$55 per quote request we send them. Full details here: https://support.solarquotes.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/115000931934-How-does-SolarQuotes-make-money-Will-I-pay-more-for-my-system-by-using-SolarQuotes
- Installers in our network can easily reject (and not be charged for) a quote request if they believe a customer is not "a serious enough enquirer". I can see the company we referred you to has done this - so rest assured they won't be charged for your inquiry.
I would love to pass on your suggestions on how we can be clearer about this so situations like yours won't happen in the future. Please email me at jonathon@solarquotes.com.au or reply here :)
Kind regards,
- Jonathon
“I have no faith in Solar Quotes. The supposed trusted Quotes I received were questionable. One of the installers is not even registered for GST which means a turn over of less than $75000. Turnover not profit. How am I supposed to believe he will still be around if something goes wrong with my system. His phone number came up on my phone as some renovation company. When you look into solar it's a bit of a mine field. There are different component regulators, with specifications we the consumer have no hope of understanding, installer creditations etc etc. Everyone has their finger inthe pie and noone explains anything clearly. What us the warranty does it cover installation if the panels fail? Best igeneral nfo I found was on choice but then I used Solar Quotes on their advice.”
Hi Esther,
Thank you very much for letting us know about this - I have found the company you are referring to and you are correct. We did investigate this and thanks to my colleague the correct ABN for that particular installer is now displayed in their review page on our site. Hoping this has cleared things up!
Ned.
“I asked your opinion about a quote I was given and all you replied with was your generic advice from your web site. I sent through the quote as I’m not sure about the battery and amount of solar the company is suggesting but you didn’t comment. So I’m still confused.”
Hi Matthew,
Thanks for leaving a review and letting us know about this. Apologies you weren't satisfied with our response to your question, I know Margherita has followed up with you about the quote options. Hoping that has helped - if you have any more questions feel free to reach out to me at ned@solarquotes.com.au and I will assist where I can.
Thanks,
Ned.
Hi Geraldine,
Sincerely apologetic to hear about this - we do vet every company before they become a part of the SolarQuotes network as well as continuously monitor our users feedback in case we need to look into any potential trouble. I've checked in with the 3 companies and am confident they were not producing these calls. If this is wrong - please let me know at ned@solarquotes.com.au and I will investigate. Unfortunately we have been hearing of a massive amount of spam calls relating solar in the general public and I fear you may have been a victim of this. We spoke about this in a large meeting last week and may have an idea on how to combat that - we'll update you if that's implemented :)

“I requested EV Charger quotes and was informed I would be contacted by 3 seperate EV Installers. I received 2 quotes. When contacted I asked they attend the property to confirm their quotes as they were done with the limited information I submitted on the initial enquiry. 1 company missed two appointments and the other has only just returned my email, a week and a half later. The online quote service is great in theory, however the installers used don’t appear to be that interested in performing the work.”
Hi Brad,
Thanks for leaving us a review and taking my call - again apologies that you had a delay in getting quotes sent out to you. I've spoken to the companies you were matched with and ensured the tardiness won't happen again. We want to make sure our process gives the people who use our site an easy experience. I'm happy to hear you had a quote come through in the end that you were happy with. Hope that install goes well - if you have any questions or further feedback please just e-mail me at ned@solarquotes.com.au and i'll be happy to follow up.
Thanks,
Ned.
“Sure they can arrange people to quote but they don’t have a network that is prepared to quote for a more difficult location, like a steep pitch roof. Whilst this service is free to the consumer. It may be useful for folks to know this. It’s not their fault but it’s a lazy systemic issue lying within the solar installation industry.”
Hi Brett,
Apologies that your matched installer wasn't able to quote. Every installer is equipped different, and each has their own preferences when it comes to installs. Some will install on certain pitched roofs while others will not - it comes down to what they feel comfortable with. What I will do here is e-mail you through a couple more installers for you to chat to who have done difficult roofs in the past. If you could e-mail me at ned@solarquotes.com.au with your roof pitch - i'll be able to find a company for you : )
Thanks,
Ned.
“Only had one quote. Another quoted on a smaller system and when I asked for a price on larger system I haven’t heard back. One company said they would get in contact after Easter but still waiting. Hard to know what to do with only one quote”
Hi Steve,
Apologies in the delay in your quotes - i've followed up with the companies who i'm glad sent them through in the end - this delay was caused by the easter break but should have been better communicated to you and i've asked them to follow up. If you need any help with the quotes or have any more feedback please let me know: ned@solarquotes.com.au where I will try to assist : )
Ned.
Hi Brian
Apologies about this - I checked with the company you were matched with who also apologised, they had recently changed their area of service and were not able to assist your installation. This has been amended so it does not happen in the future. I've had a look and we do have another company that should be able to help out close by - i'll email you their details : ) Hope this helps.
Ned.
Hi Tina,
Thanks for taking my call - I was happy to hear you did end up going with one of our recommended installers. I will speak to the other about their quote requirements as I agree it is a big barrier to entry. If you have any other further feedback or questions - please feel free to contact me at ned@solarquotes.com.au and i'll assist where I can : )

“I requested three quotes and got three quotes. That is about as good as it gets. I wasn't impressed by two of the three companies that SQ put my way. I believe SQ simply sells my data to solar installation companies and the 'careful' filtering isn't perhaps very effective. The first of these companies turned up at my property the next morning and pushed aggressively to get me to sign up at the end of his visit, despite my discomfort over the fact that we disagreed strongly about the best PV layout for the roof. I said I wanted to get the other quotes before making a decision and he became angry, complained that he had driven an hour from Port Kembla specially to see me, and criticised SolarQuotes and the other companies I was waiting to hear from in order to undermine my confidence in the process. He persisted in pushing me to sign up for days afterwards. The second company to make contact was a phoneix company. They did not come to my property (as they are Sydney based) but used my plans and Google maps to estimate the PV layout and cost, but it did not include a battery quote which I had requested. The quote was very low, but non-commital. The third company came a few days later with a quote for a layout that I had already drawn shadow diagrams for so knew the layout would work with max output and min panels. He was pleasant, incredibly well-informed and helpful, but very expensive. It turned out that the quotes from the two companies that did site visits were almost 3 times more expsensive than the one who didn't come and see the site, but if they can't be bothered to come and look when there's money in it for them, do I think they would come out to fix a problem they won't get paid for later?). In light of the dissatifaction I felt from the process I approached a local installer who I know of through local builders. He came to site, discussed everything thoroughly. His quote was similar to the cheapest, but he is well known for his post installation customer care, and the components he uses are every bit as good as (and as warrantied) as the expensive guys, so it seems SQ wasn't able to add anything to the solution. Not sure I would recommend the set up to anyone looking for solar quotes.”
Hi Lucy,
This was a very disappointing one to read about our clients - I would very much like to look into and follow up on which company pressured you and which company was a 'phoenix'. Please if you could email me at ned@solarquotes.com.au about your experience I would very much appreciate it. We do vet every installer through an extensive process before they become a part of the SolarQuotes network but unfortunately it is sounding like you have been in an unlucky situation where our recommendations have dropped the ball and I would like to ensure it does not happen in the future. Please let me know -
Ned.
“Quotes received were at exhorbitant prices. At least double of what others are quoting. Perhaps the companies referred by Solarquotes only quotes the RollsRoyce versions of solar panels to their customers. Decided to go with another supplier.”
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your review. I have tried to reach out to discuss - left a voicemail - please either call me back or email jonathon@solarquotes.com.au
- Jonathon
Hey Todd,
I've just giving you a ring to try to chase up the missing installers for you - give me a call back when convenient or email me at jonathon@solarquotes.com.au :)

“Whilst I can accept two quotes what made it impossible to make use of the information provided even though I provided a copy of the same bill to each suppl;ier was the fact that the one supplier recommended a 7 kw system and the other a 13 kw system. This was supposedly on the basis of the same information provided. I have since used the services of a local supplier. He has provided a quote withthe compentory included in the brands you have recommended.
Noel Eltringham”
Hi Noel,
Thanks for your feedback and review. I can understand how your situation can feel confusing. Our take is pretty simple - put on the biggest system you can reasonably fit and afford. We've literally never heard anyone complain they put on too much solar.
Glad to hear you've gotten an acceptable quote - I hope you enjoy your new system :)
- Jonathon
Hi Brian,
Thanks for your time over the phone - happy to hear you have accepted a quote from one of our installers. They are a great company - if you have any questions about the install just flick an e-mail to ned@solarquotes.com.au and i'd be happy to help.
With the company who didn't reach out - i've had a word with them about taking better care of the potential customers we send their way as I know it's frustrating not getting the quotes you were asking for. Thanks for letting us know as it only helps us improve.
Have a happy holidays,
Ned
“When it comes down to it, designing and installing a system is not difficult for a company. There are 2 types of install companies to avoid - those that undercharge, and those that overcharge. Both are ripping you off in their own way. the companies not listed on Solar Quotes also gave me reasonable quotes, and also had been in business for 5-10 years, and also dealt in the 'good' brands of panels and inverters.”
Hi Brian
Thanks for taking my call - I was relieved to hear that your star ratings may have been a mistake! Appreciate the kind words you gave over the phone - if there is any feedback or questions feel free to get in touch at ned@solarquotes.com.au
Ned.
Hi Rama,
Appreciate you taking my phone call and again wanted to apologise about the delay in your quote. I've texted you 2 more companies that I can recommend and am confident will help sort a quote for you. I've followed up with the other 2 companies letting them know of your experience and to improve their customer service. Thanks for letting us know - any questions or further feedback feel free to reach out to me at ned@solarquotes.com.au

“Out of three expected referrals I only received 2 visits and only one Quote. I am still looking for at least two more quotes before making a decision.”
Hi Karl-Heinz,
I was happy to hear you have found a system for you - and have followed up with the companies you were matched with to ensure their customer service improves.
If you have any further feedback or questions feel free to get in touch with me at ned@solarquotes.com.au

“Requested 2 quotes 26/8, contacted by Zeco very helpful & timely quotes. No contact at all from other company Formosa Electric, advised Solar quotes 5/9 & response was they had been contacted again. It is now 13/9 no contact or further follow up.”
Hi Paul,
Sincere apologies about the delay in your quote from your 2nd matched installer. I gave them a call - he apologised and let me know he was very ill the past month but is on the mend now. As I said over the phone just let me know if you would like that company to follow up with you - otherwise I have provided an alternate installer for you to contact who i'm confident will be able to sort you out quickly :)
Any further feedback or questions please contact me at ned@solarquotes.com.au

“Our first EV "charger".
We nave a free-standing carport with not much space,
I think only 1 installer was truly local.
So far have been impressed with the one local installer who turned up on site.
Still do not have a quote though.”
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the convo over the phone and again apologies for the delay in your quotes. I've text you an additional installer for you to contact that I believe can handle your specific installation. Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other feedback :)
Ned.
“The website and advice on the website is very good. However I was given 3 quotes which were outrageously overpriced. I ended up using the advice from the website and signed up with someone who was at least $1k cheaper.”
Hi Lin,
Thanks for leaving this feedback and the chat over the phone. I'm glad you found a company for your installation, just please be wary with cheaper solar - we have an article here with some advice: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/cheapsystems.html
I'd recommend checking reviews for your chosen company as well (on Google and SolarQuotes) just to be on the safe side!
If you have any other feedback or questions feel free to ring back or send me an e-mail: ned@solarquotes.com.au
