“An Extremely Useful Guide and "Helping Hand" through a Very Confusing Area
We have just purchased an EV (electric vehicle) and have been investigating how to acquire a charger to integrate with our solar system. While walking through the "mine field" of options, I came across SolarQuotes. This has been a truly amazing resource for information and guidance on types of chargers available, comparison of brands, and many other factors to consider.
While doing this research our 15-year old solar system stopped working (inverter failure). Now what to do? Once again turning to SolarQuotes uncovered further highly useful information in the form of getting quotes for repair or replacement, what to look for, tips to guide the research process, etc.
The outcome for me was to be able to separate the "less scruplous" operators from those who really know their stuff. I have been able to locate an installer who can replace my complete solar system and install an EV charger of the quality that I want for LESS than it cost to install our original solar system. While I had to do a fair amount of "leg work", it was nonetheless SolarQuotes that provided the pathways to this outcome.
So, thank you very much, SolarQuotes, for providing such useful information to guide the researching and to offer suggested installers who might be able to help. All of this certainly helped me and can be highly recommended.”

“I know you have to do things the way you do to make money, but as a customer it would be easier to just have a list of suppliers on a website. No-one provided a quote using the information I submitted, everyone just left me a voicemail asking me to phone them back to organise a quote. If I wanted to ring a bunch of suppliers and get quotes I would have just done that in the first place. Having to phone a whole heap of people was precisely what I was trying to avoid. Yes I have the names of three reputable suppliers I can contact for quotes when I have time to chase things up, and that will be helpful, but given no-one emailed me we any quotes or estimates using the provided information, why not just give me the names of three people in my area and let me follow it up myself since that’s what I now have to do.
I’m sure this is a great service for some people but it felt a bit pointless to me.”

Thanks for leaving us feedback we always appreciate it - we actually do provide lists of installers - you can find one for your city here https://www.solarquotes.com.au/installers/cities/, we also do give our users the names/numbers of the companies they are matched with straight away if they would like to follow up themselves. But I will speak to the team and see if there is a better way we can communicate this.
Regarding the quotes - we do expect the installers to contact you and have a chat before providing a quote as they always like to get the most information possible. Some installers will provide a quote via e-mail straight away but it is rarer and generally avoided as the cost will likely change if they don't have all the appropriate information. Again - this is something we might need to make more clear so this issues does not happen again. I'll also pass on your feedback to those particular installers so they can improve their service and communication

But you are right - Tesla Powerwall installations can be dear, we always recommend to budget appropriately and do research into whether you believe you need one. - Installers in our network can easily reject (and not be charged for) a quote request if they believe a customer is not "a serious enough enquirer". I can see the company we referred you to has done this - so rest assured they won't be charged for your inquiry.
