“Outstanding reference point to fully understand Solar. We were provided with some fantastic businesses that engaged in the most professional way. We will be proceeding with a system that will meet our needs and thank you for being the guiding light through this process. 1 million stars 🌟 for you.”
“I appreciate your service and really appreciate the installers you referred. I also appreciate information on your site and on youtube. Very infortmative and helpful to direct customers to make the right choices in a fast expanding market.”
“I found the information that Finn present in this website intelligent, very useful and comprehensive. For all practical (and theoretical) purposes I refer to this website.”
“yes I was given very good advice which cleared up a lot of grey area questions that I had. It’s a shame I can’t take up the offer because I am getting the $.44 rebate from the government in two years. I’ll be knocking on your door because of the great service I got from your representative.”
“The SolarQuotes website (and weekly blogs) raised my level of education from ignorance to empowerment, in a short period of time. I felt reassured enough from my readings to press the "get quotes" link, and within 24 hours I had been contacted by three excellent vendors. Just over a week later, I had quotes based on discussions, and I am very satisfied with my final choice (to be installed within around two months--a common timeframe across quotes). I probably wouldn't have got around to taking this step had it not been for SolarQuotes!”
Hi Martin,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and would really like the chance to discuss this further with you. I’ve already reached via phone and email, please don’t hesitate to return my call or email when you can so we can better understand what went wrong, we definitely do not want to be recommending any installers who 'don't know much about installation'. I'd be very keen to follow up on this
Thank you for taking the time to review our business,
Ned.
“I have to write this using a text editor, to copy and paste to the form, as, in the course of writing the content that I was writing, whether due to an inadvertent keypress or otherwise, control went to a new screen, and I could not go back to the content that I had partially written.
The whole process for obtaining quotes, was completely unsatisfactory, and, I had expected better from someone who professes to be a qualified and accredited engineer.
The process lacks an appropriate formal methodology.
1. In making the initial request for obtaining the quotes, the question was asked as to how soon, the work is wanted to be done. The options were fixed, rigid, and, mutually exclusive, and, inappropriate for the circumstances of the timing of requesting the quotes. The options were something like
immediately
within the next 4-6 weeks
and some other option.
That screen should have been modified, especially, as applicable to the circumstances at the time of submitting the form, to include the question and option, something like
"If no recommendable installer is available in your local area, to provide a quote for completing the job in the time period that you have specified, would you be willing to go to the next available period of time, in order to get quotes from installers local to your area?"
Instead, after a day or so of submitting the form, I got a response, something like "We have no installers available in your state, so, here are a couple of out of state installers, that we recommend to provide you with a quote".
2. The details provided for the job sought to be done, as provided in the form requesting the quotes, were either not passed on to the companies that were referred to provide the quotes, or, those companies ignored the details, if the details were provided to them. The initial contact from each of the referred companies, did not either acknowledge or refer to, the details provided in the form requesting the quotes.
3. The two interstate companies that were referred, for providing the quotes, requested from me, details, which were provided. Neither company acknowledged or referred to to the details that were provided. One company simply did not communicate further. The other company requested details that they had not previously requested, and, I provided those details, and requested acknowledgement of receipt, and, received no further communication from that company. Both companies appear to have had the sole objective of wasting my time.
4. I also sent a request for a quote, directly to the company that is highest recommended by Solar Quotes, for the Perth metropolitan area, for working with the particular components; Fritts. Neither of the two companies that were referred by Solar Quotes, are shown to work with the particular components. Fritts requested details, without acknowledging the details that I had supplied, and, neither Fritts nor the other two companies, appear to do on site assessments to determine what can be offered, despite the explicit statements from me, that on site assessment is necessary, due to the limitations and complexity of the particular site. So, the Fritts company, also, despite an explicit request for acknowledgement of receipt of the details, including requested photographs, has not provided acknowledgement of receipt, making me wonder whether the requesting the particular photographs, was for some sinister motive, given the details requested in the requested photographs.
5. I received a message from Solar Quotes, in response to my response to a query as to whether I had received quotes from the referred companies; my response was that I had not received quotes from them, and they had just messed me around, so, the Solar Quotes person asked whether I wanted quotes from other installers, to which I replied that I do, and, that, rather than the option of wanting the work done immediately, asked whether any installers would be available that could do the work in the next four weeks or so. No acknowledgement of my response, has been received,m from Solar Quotes.
6. All in all, both Solar Quotes, and, its process, appear to me, to be quite bodgy, and, not up to the standard that I expect from someone who professes to be a qualified and accredited engineer.
So, I am not at all happy with all of this, and, would not recommend Solar Quotes.”
Hi Bret
Thanks for taking the time to write us a very detailed review. I’m really sorry your experience with us has been so frustrating. I can see how much time you’ve spent providing details and trying to get things moving, only to feel like nothing has been acknowledged or acted on properly. That’s not the kind of experience we want anyone to have with SolarQuotes.
You’ve raised some fair points about how rigid our form is, how installer availability is handled, and how details are (or aren’t) passed through to installers. We know these are weak spots at the moment, and we’re in the middle of improving the quote request form so that the information is clearer and more useful for installers, and so that customers aren’t left feeling ignored.
Also sorry we dropped the ball on follow-up communication. That’s something we are normally great on but needed to do better here. Your feedback here is really helpful and will go straight into the work we’re doing to fix these issues.
I know this doesn’t change the experience you’ve had, but I want to thank you for being upfront with us. It’s clear we need to lift our game and I'll pass on the feedback to the team.
Thanks again for letting us know,
Ned.
Hi Stuart
Thanks for your feedback, and I’m sorry about your experience. You indeed did request a 20 kW system in our form, but unfortunately the installers missed this detail and only quoted for a smaller system. I completely understand how frustrating that must have been.
We’ve have been speaking in the office regularly on how this information is passed on so it’s much clearer to installers in the future and should be introducing something soon. Apologies again for the time wasted, and thank you for letting us know so we can improve. If you would like another recommendation send me an email at ned@solarquotes.com.au and I will help out.
Thanks again for letting us know,
Ned.
“So happy with all the help from you and have learned quite a lot about panels and information to ask about them. We are about to accept a quote from one of the three companies you recommended to us. Thanks for all your help. Katherine and Jess.”
