One group travelled a long way to give a quote but didn't stick to my request to follow choice recommendations although did go part way.
A local quote did not visit nor did I speak with a specialist but gave a quote with provisos. Again did not quote on SunPower panels as recommended by choice
The third for Melbourne did not visit but I had a lengthy conversation with a person who made me comfortable in his understanding of my requirements.
The quotes varied from $6.000 to $9.750 to replace an old existing system on a shed roof and supply an inverter suitable to connect to a battery in about a years time.”
“Your system was very quick to provide the names of 3 local installers. They were smaller, local electricians who clearly knew a lot about electricity solar panels and batteries. It is complicated and potentially expensive if not done right. So many equipment options, so many power management options.
What is needed is specific, independant expert consultant who can specify the technical requirements. Then get quotes from suppliers and installers.”
“Asked for 2 quotes and 2 companies made initial contact immediately. I responded to both. One didn't follow up except to inform SolarQuotes that I could not be contacted which was false. SolarQuotes followed up and was emailed an estimate of costs to be made more formal if interested. Soon after the company phoned and by this time I had gone with another company.. don't know how interested they really were. The other company was a little persistent, some would regard as pushy, but perhaps I needed this. I compared their quote to others received, some external to SolarQuotes, and decided they were best value for money. Hope the installation goes smoothly.”

Sincere apologies about the delay in your quote from your 2nd matched installer. I gave them a call - he apologised and let me know he was very ill the past month but is on the mend now. As I said over the phone just let me know if you would like that company to follow up with you - otherwise I have provided an alternate installer for you to contact who i'm confident will be able to sort you out quickly :)

The information available on the SolarQuotes website is very helpful for the novice in the solar energy arena: with many links within the various articles & reviews to relevant external (incl Govt agencies) sources. It is often necessary to re-read some of the articles/reviews but sometimes it is not so easy to find that bit of information that one wanted to review (because there is so much there to read!).
