“Sternglas Kanton is a very successful piece of watch. It delivers high quality build, clean design and surprisingly decent look. For a long time I was looking for a new watch which would replace my old dying device. With the arrival of new technology I succumbed to temptation of electronic watch with shiny display, but soon I realised I made a mistake for several reasons: charging at daily bases being the most annoying, blinking design being the most disappointing. This type of watch demands your constant attention - and that is not what I want. I decided to look for watch which would serve me when I need, would look nice and I would not have to take care of every now and then. My choice was a decent watch with traditional mechanical, preferably automatic clockwork. I first noticed Sternglas because of adverts on facebook. I liked the clear and simple design. I browsed their website many times and with the introduction of Kanton watch I knew I found what I was looking for. I ordered the watch, and it arrived very soon. Crossing the border within EU took just one extra day compared to the fastest option (I opted for the standard delivery). The parcel was rather large and heavy, and when I opened it, I was surprised by large, luxury-looking wooden case. The case was wrapped in soft cloth and all closed in a hard paper box. The box also included hand signed warranty and small booklet with information in German and English languages. All looked nice and neat. When I opened the wooden box, there it was – the Kanton watch. I have to admit, that when I first saw the watch, I was surprised. The photos and the advertisement for the watch is really well made and it gives the customer very clear idea. The watch in real is a little different. For long, I was trying to get to know why – maybe it is just the difference between the 2D expectation and the 3D reality. My first impression was how compact the watch is. Also, at the first glance, the watch looks “ordinary”. This is not a negative feeling, and after a few days this becomes a great advantage, because I think I now understand the philosophy of this watch – its beauty is in its ordinariness, in its clean and simple deign. The aim is surely not to impress at first sight, the aim is to deliver good service. But do not take me wrong – the build of the watch is superb, the look is absolutely balanced and there is no single thing that could be pointed out to beat another one. Everything is easy, smooth, nice, every part of the watch stays in symbiosis with the rest as a whole. Looking back, one thing is sure: the real watch has a spirit and it is way too better to have than just look at it on the internet. After a week of wearing the watch, I have only a few notes. That is because the watch truly does not demand one´s attention. It does what it should – shows time. The strongest emotion is peace, tranquillity and a very slight warm happy feeling that everything is all right. Of course, I tried to examine it. The sound is very silent, it can only be heard when the watch is near the ear. The luminous hands are not too bright, I would rather say they are nearly invisible, but again, one does not expect a bright shine. Thanks to its compact shape, the watch fits on the wrist well and after a few days I do not realise I wear them on. I was also very curious about the time deviation – maximum should not exceed 15 seconds per day. As of today, the difference is approximately 5 seconds per day. The good news is the watch is faster, so if I should rely on precise timing, I will not be late :) Generally, I am very happy with the watch. I do not see any negatives or drawbacks and I do not expect to discover any in future. If I still had to find one thing, I would boost luminosity of the hands in the dark. I like the minimalistic design of the watch, its build quality and its spirit. The watch works just as fine as one would expect. It is a beautiful, decent and admirable piece of work.”

“I have been wanting a Topograph for a long time, and was sad to see in 2019 that it was no longer available. But now the v2.0 Topograph is out and at last I have one. The dial is simply elegant, very classy and modern and easy to read and slightly less cluttered than the v1.0 dial. Adding red to the second hand was a smart move -- it is much more visible now. And I love that the second hand can be stopped when adjusting the time, so I can at least try to get the watch perfectly set. :-) One important note: If you get the DLC links strap, make sure you use the screw tool carefully when removing links -- my screw tool stripped one of the screws and the strap had to be replaced. Big kudos to Sternglas customer service for taking care of my issue so quickly!”

“Poor customer service, but great watches. I ordered two new watchbands. One was not the color I expected, so I emailed customer support to ask how to do an exchange. I never got a response.”

“The watch is excellent, fits great and i love the styling (Naos Auto, white-dial on brown). Easy to use, keeps good time. The band feels good on the wrist, but almost looked a bit worn coming off of the pillow the first time. I plan on grabbing straps in a couple other colors/styles, and the watch will get regular wear.”

“I ordered two Sinja watches - one in gold and one in silver, as I was unsure which would look better on me. The plan was to send one of them back once that had been determined. As I live within the EU this would not cost me any extra - a fact I really appreciate about Sternglas.com. To my surprise, the milanaise straps were not only different in color (silver and gold), but also in both length and in how fine or coarse they were in their weave. The silver one was longer and coarser, and looked more like a strap for a men’s watch. In the photos of the two watches on Sternglas.com, the two straps are identical in the fineness of their weave, so one of the photos is not really representative. I preferred the finer grain of the gold milanaise, which also looked most like the photos. The gold colour was also better in relation to my fair skin with olive undertones. I really like the Sternglas watches - they seem to be of very high quality and I like the curved sapphire crystal with antireflective coatings, as well as their slim profile - they look slimmer in real life than in the photos. Another thing I liked was the sunburst-effect on the dials. In all, very classic - and very classy! However, I also compared the two Sinja watches from Sternglas with another watch, which is black (dial and strap) and rosegold (body, hands and hour markers), and this looked the best on me. The higher contrast clearly suited me best. This other watch also has a sapphire crystal, but it’s not curved and does not seem to have any antireflective coatings. However, there was no escaping the fact that the higher colour contrast looked better on me. On my fair skin, the Sternglas watches were kind of anonymous - and left a pale impression in comparison. Also, the Sinja watches only have two hands. I do like having a second hand (three hand movement), which the other watch has. So, unfortunately, most likely, I'll send both of the Sinja watches back. Not because I didn't like them, I did. I just didn't like the way they looked on /me/, especially compared to another option with higher inherent colour contrast. Enough about the watches. How about the service? It went very smoothly, and I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The order was shipped quickly and I was fully informed as the order progressed from order confirmation, to shipping, to tracking and receiving. Except for the slightly coarser and longer milanaise silver strap, everything was as expected. The ability to see a product in person, and to return it at no cost, if needed, is a service I really appreciate in online retail. No matter how well illustrated, it’s never the same as experiencing a product in real life, with your hands and your eyes - and in the right context (on your wrist, in the case of watches). All in all, would I recommend Sternglas.com and their products? Definitely!”
