Yesterday a version of cottage pie using venison mince. Last Saturday was bangers and mash, petite pois and onion gravy ( with a hefty teaspoon of horseradish sauce in it ) wild boar sausages. But there's such things as pheasant ( or other game birds, coq au van, jointed, seared, then braised in red wine, with roughly diced smoked back/streaky bacon, mushrooms and onion. Slow cook for about 1-1.5 hours. Serve with buttery mash potatoes and crusty bread. Wonderful
