“Another happy customer here upgraded from Horizon/M365.
My 1st unit had some issues and FFR had sent me a replacement in two weeks, which was a great service :)
I have 350 miles on the 2nd unit and haven't had any issue so far besides the minor brake sensor adjustment.
From my experience I see the advertisement here is true and can't agree more to those 5 stars review from the other proud owners.
AFAIK this is the best consumer rated scooter ever today for the price range and I'm glad I've made a right choice for my final upgrade 3 months ago :)
I'd recommend purchasing the fast charger that not only shortening a charging time but also comes with features to protect your home or scooter.
Seeing is believing so please watch the short video attached here where I tested 0-40mph Dual motors acceleration with a GPS.
There is also a 13min long video review available here: https://youtu.be/t61r2KJ5K38
Hope it helps to show you future riders how fast/comfy a Mantis Pro rides :)”
“I spent 2 1/2 months waiting anxiously to get the Mantis Pro. When it finally arrived I couldn't enjoy it right away.
It turns out I did not connect the charger the right way. I reached out to the folks at FFR and they were where there to answer questions. I ended up figuring out that I didn't make the right contact with the coupler. Chalk it up to user error.
Everything works fine now especially with the added finger sensor.
I've tested the Mantis on the hills in my neighborhood in Visitation Valley which is in the South East part of San Francisco, Ca. In this area, the hills are very steep, more so than in the downtown area.
I weigh 195 lb and the Mantis took me up the steepest hills with no problem again and again.
Of course, all of my settings are set with No Restrictions.
The max speed on those steep hills with my weight went down to 11 mph but this was still huge.
I am very impressed with this Machine. The torque is very strong but the accelerator has a sweet spot. I just need to get used to it.
The Mantis is big and impressive.
Still learning about the Mantis and getting used to riding a scooter but so far I think is pretty cool and I hope it lasts long.
I give it 5 stars.”
“I received my Mantis Pro two weeks ago and I am thoroughly pleased with the scooter. I have owned 3 previous kick scooters, 2 Imax scooters (which I still own. One has 2,086 miles and the other 1,567 miles) and prior to purchasing the Mantis I purchased the Boosted Rev which I returned after owning for 3 weeks. The Rev did not have the power, range and quality of build. It was totally a waste of money and cost $600 more than the Mantis.
I average around 15+ miles a day and with the Mantis, I run it hard at full speed and at the end of the day I only use 20-25% of the battery life. The power is fantastic. I weigh 225 lbs and I fly up the hills of San Francisco and can reach a speed of 40 mph. The breaks are fantastic and stop really well. I ride a Harley and the Hydraulic breaks on this scooter have a very responsive feel and are able to make me feel secure when I need them. I have yet to use the cruise control but I am looking forward to seeing how it works. The suspension is a big plus. This is the first scooter I've owned with shocks and the ride is very comfortable. I really appreciate the option to make adjustments to the scooter via the controller. The speedometer is accurate (unlike the Rev which sucked and was WAY off) and I like knowing how many miles I've ridden the scooter and another nice thing I like is the voltage meter as it provides me real time battery life unlike most other push scooters. I have received a lot of positive remarks from passer bys and other scooter riders.
Now the not so good: I like the fact that it folds however it is the least convenient folding mechanism of the other scooters I own. And if you like folding handle bars, well you will have to do what I did and purchase some aftermarket bars. This makes for less supportive transportation of the scooter.
The lights are a nice feature, the under board lights are bright and provide a safety feature needed when it is dark. The front lights are not adequate for night riding. I...”
“I've gone through many brands and variations of scooters over the years, and have finally met my match. My Mantis Pro is amazing!! Not only the design and build quality, but the performance and safety features are bar none. This thing is smooth on flat ground and super comfortable on the bumps with fantastic suspension. Hope to have my Mantis for many years to come. Thank you Fluidfreeride! Keep up the great work and stellar service.”
“Disclosure: FFR has offered to send a free fender extension to me for writing a review. They did not condition this on the content/rating of the review.
This is a vehicle, not a toy. Ethically, I feel compelled to give a safety warning. Wear a helmet. Set instant acceleration [P7] to 2+, as 0 and 1 are *fast*. There are 3 "gears". If you're familiar with electric motors, you know "gear" isn't the right word, but it's the word the manual uses. Do not use gear 3 until you're used to the scooter. You don't need 100% torque either, unless you're a heavier rider going up hills. Max settings are cool, but I do not use max power settings on this scooter.
If you're buying this, you probably know the virtues. Here are the cons, in my opinion, none of which I think demerit the scooter from 5 stars.
- Hitting the brakes cuts the accelerator, and once in a while, the sensor for this gets stuck, preventing the scooter from accelerating. Power cycling the scooter appears to instantly fix this issue. Sometimes flicking the brakes fixes it too, but not as reliably.
- The scooter arrived with a couple dings in the paint. No matter, riding this at speed will incur damage from loose gravel, etc.
- I wish the binding ring grabbed more of the base, length-wise. The handlebars have a slight wobble. I've looked up a guide on how to help with this, and I did reduce the wobble successfully, but I don't know that it can be perfect. Design-wise, I'm not sure it's possible to completely eliminate wobble and have a folding stem.
- The brakes occasionally get a slight squeak. The suspension started squeaking a tiny bit around 100 miles.
- The regenerative brakes only work at a certain minimum speed. I wish they worked all the way to zero, but that might make them seem jerky at low speeds, depending how many phases the motors have.
Otherwise, this scooter is monstrous, capability-wise. I can't imagine feeling safe getting anything faster than this in the same standing scooter format.”
“I was considering the Boosted Rev before looking at the Mantis. Looking over the reviews on both and what I want it for I chose the Mantis Pro. I have never ridden an e-scooter. This was my 1st time on one. I am happy to say that I received the scooter in excellent condition. It was easy to setup. I test rode it to see if everything was working. Just the initial test ride freaked me out, very torquey even in eco mode. Turbo mode was just insane just going down my street. I think for a bit I will be riding in settings 1 and 2 till I get used to it. I think if I bought the Boosted Rev I would have regretted it given how the Mantis is set up and how it performs out of the box. For a few hundred bucks more you get better performance with more flexibility than the Rev.”
“I've had my Mantis pro for about 2 weeks and man this thing is a monster! Performance build and quality ride is 10/10. So there was a few minor issues w/ quality control which i could live with but i had an issue with a brake light not working and the mat started peeling off because glue may not have been that strong, so i contacted Peter at FFR. I usually never take the time to review anything but my experience with Peter brought me here. First of that man is an Angel. He responds to emails very quick and he goes above and beyond to rectify any issues. He suggested that since scooter was so fairly new these minor issues shouldn't happen and offered to swap it out with a new one. I was expecting at most he would've asked me to send it in for repair which would've been fair and ok with me but he went above and beyond to make sure i was a satisfied customer. I was referred by a friend and after this experience I'll be pointing all my friends who's thinking of buying a scooter over to FFR. Top notch service! Peter you have a customer for life!”
“I have no previous scooter experience so I was a bit hesitant to order such a top of the line model but I'm glad that I did. I use it almost daily for my 3mi work commute including a large bridge. I am still getting comfortable on it but am having a lot of fun in the process. I am still surprised how stable it feels at 40mph and I hit top speeds for a good portion of my commute.
Also surprising was how amazing the brakes are. They take some getting used to because you have to shift your weight back before easing onto them. I'm still trying to figure out how and when to use the front brakes because the rear brakes do such a good job.
Unfortunately I have already experienced my first flat tire due to a small nail. I was able to easily find a tube on Amazon for around $10 and once I realized that the hub flange comes off with 6 hex bolts, it was a very simple replacement. Not looking forward to the next one but I'm not going to be worried when it happens.
Overall, I am very happy with the scooter, but there are a couple of shortcomings that could be improved. As others have noted, the forward lighting is just to be seen for safety. You will need to buy a handlebar mounted light or a headlamp before attempting any night riding.
My biggest gripe is that the entire steering system needs some stiffening. Since it's just a single steering post and single tube handlebars doing all of the work on their own, there is a lot of flex, which makes the whole thing feel kinda chincy. And when the stem works itself even the tinyest bit loose, it squeaks pretty bad. This is probably why the wolf warrior has dual tubes and motocross style handlebars. Once I am out of warranty, I plan to modify the steering tube by bolting or welding some steel flatbar on both sides of the steering tube and maybe some wolf warrior-style handlebars to stiffen everything up.
PROS:
Power
Handling
Brakes
Simple tire/tube change
CONS:
Flexy steering tube and squeaky stem
Lack of forward lighting options”
Thank you for your review! The stem should be stable without play. Have a look at this article or contact us for help:
