“The camera has taken some good videos. It is early days and still getting the hang of it. I have managed to get the videos from the trail camera to my phone but it is a bit tricky. Lots of videos of pigeons in bird baths. It doesn't seem to trigger with the smaller birds as yet but I will play around with settings and siting. The solar panel seems to be charging the battery well.”
“I've been wanting to move away from the trail cam brands associated with hunting and shooting for ages but the alternatives weren't that hot. That's now changed with the Solar Helarctos trail cam. Awesome resolution day or night, solar power battery backup and USB C charge option plus its own WiFi mesh so you can remotely interrogate the cam from 10m or so away. Easily the best cam I've got and I've tried a few!”
“Hi, this is my 2nd Helarctos Cam. I can't Fault it Excellent Video's/&Pic's Day & Night and that's at 1080p setting although you have 2k/4k still good detail. Plenty of different Settings to choose from. And the Solar panel work's great Batterie's still 100% been outside for Day's.Good quality Well made Tough cam .Get Brilliant Footage of the Hedgehog's /Fox and Frog's hopping over my back Garden lawn. The Wi fi through the App is good too my back Garden is 70 foot long and it connects with the Cam, After say under 30 sec's no Trouble. Brilliant Cam I recommend it to anyone you won't be Dissapointed.”
“Fabulous camera! It’s opened up our garden wildlife experience and added chiffchaff, goldcrest, robin goldfinch and others to the garden list as well as hedgehogs all taking a sip from the garden pond. We love it!”
“We got out first recording within 20 minutes of putting the camera out in the garden. Setup.was very easy and image quality is excellent.
Only thing I would suggest is that it is not immediately clear that I cannot connect the camera to my home WiFi, but only connect to it via the app on my phone.”
“I found the team at NatureSpy really helpful both pre-sale for advice and the tech team post sale when I had teething probs with leaving my camera accidentally on record every minute rather than when triggered, resulting in 1000s of blank images. I bought the Heliarctos solar cam as the wilder garden is too far from the house for the new Naturespy WIFI and because I use my phone not a laptop so I wanted an app based cam. After 30yrs with lots of wildlife but no hedgehogs in my rural hamlet I was very excited to find a regular hedgehog by chance one night and began putting kitten biscuits out but would worry every time I couldn’t see him for a few days and didn’t want to disturb him with my red light torch. I also wanted to monitor where he feeds and drinks for presence of predators before feeding more regularly, particularly for badgers as a few years ago we had several badgers in the garden (neighbour was feeding them every night, stopped 4 yrs ago). Thankfully so far after a few weeks of nightly monitoring I’ve not seen any badgers He visits every night at 9.30, 11.30 and 4.40 usually. I’ve bought nest boxes (approved by Hedgehog rescues) and I’ll continue to scatter feed but am still monitoring nightly for any predators
before adding a feeding station as I don’t want to risk endangering hedgehogs if there’s any risk at all of badgers in the garden.
The Heliarctos is perfect and the app very intuitive and the solar battery is great and lasts ages. The fact NatureSpy supports nature conservation, was another big plus for me. Be warned though it gets addictive checking each morning!”
“I’ve been using the Helarchtos Solar Trail Camera for over five months now, and the camera has been out is all weathers from the freezing cold below zero temperatures, to the heat of a hot day and still works brilliantly. I have been through numerous Browning cameras over the years and most have now failed through no fault of my own.
Yes, I’ve only own this camera for less than half a year, but so far it stands far ahead of the other supposedly good quality cameras I purchased elsewhere.
Excellent 4K image quality, but bear in mind that if you do wish to edit the footage within some editing software or play the video on a computer screen, you will need to install the HEVC codec on your computer. It’s worth noting that VLC Media Player works fine.
You can of course using the camera video quality on a lightly less setting of 1080p which I use most of the time anyway.
My only gripe about the camera is that fact the ¼” tripod thread in on the back rather than with most cameras on the base. This means that id you wish to pop it in the open without a tree to tie it to using the supplied strap, you will need to purchase a ball and socket for the tripod as well.
I love the fact that you can connect to it with your mobile phone, within say 40 or so feet away depending on obstructions, I’ve not managed it any closer than that. It takes a good 30-secs to connect via the cameras built in Wi-Fi, but when it does through the downloadable app, you can view the cameras videos and photographs, plus download them to your phone if you would like, it may take quite a while to do so through, so I prefer to swap the memory card for another one and take the one used home to view on a PC.
The other benefit by using the phone app is that you can see exactly what the camera sees, so perfect for getting the best placement when you put it out in the wild. With the standard style of camera the viewing screen in below the camera lends, so when you try to position a camera, you end up just seeing your head and not the view on the built in screen, positioning is all guess work, but certainly not with the Helarchtos!
I will certainly be buying another one once one of my older cameras decides to stop working,
Paul
P.S. I do have some videos here to share when Naturespy get in touch, there's no where here to add them to my review.”
