“This thermostat came with my new HVAC system and it has worked fine so far (about 2 years). The only issue I've had was times when the device would not connect to the app. It usually fixes itself, so it has not been that much of an issue, and that could be an app problem, not a device problem.”
“Badly designed UI with non-intuitive inconsistent design, limited app features. This thing looks like it was made in the early 2000s, compared to Nest. Buy a Nest if you have the option.”
“I requested three T6 thermostats from my contractor when we had a three-zone hot water heat system installed. Setup isn't hard, I've done it multiple times myself since I understand WiFi devices better than my plumbers did. Like every other smart home device, it works on 2.5kHz and not on 5kHz WiFi. They work just fine, no problems with the app. After a couple of years, one of the three died - just went black. Called Honeywell Support and they were helpful: confirmed the thermostat needed replacement since it didn't work when plugged into other zones, and one of my identical good thermostats worked on the zone in question. I was told the warranty would be honored without a receipt based on the manufacture date for the unit's serial number. But I would need to get an electrician to order and install the replacement. Much cheaper to buy the same model for $50 as an aftermarket item and install it myself, which I have done. So good support, but I don't find the warranty helpful. I requested this model expecting a high-quality product, but at this point, I see no advantage to buying a Pro model. Any consumer smart thermostat would probably do as well or better at a lower cost.”
“Installed this thermostat in 2017 and have had no problems. I am an IT guy so the connection to WiFi was a breeze and have had no issues. Like that I can set the temp from the app on my phone and can adjust when I am away in case I forget. Just wish there were more settings for heat/cool.”
