“Hanbon Forge created the exact Katana I wanted! The folded 1095 blade with a subtle hamon looks exactly how I imagined it. The fittings are simple but of good materials(brass tsuba and habaki/ seppa, iron fuchi and kashira). All of these are put together with a tight and secure fit for an overall feel that is very solid. The 12 inch handle is wrapped beautifully with Japanese silk and real rayskin. The ito is very tightly wrapped and the hishigami option makes a huge difference. The saya is simple as well but well executed and I’m impressed with the thickness and quality of the sageo. Each part of this build feels like it is the highest level quality and craftsmanship you could ask for at this price point. The overall end result exceeded my expectations with each piece feeling understated but elegant at the same time. I’m very happy with this katana and can’t wait to dream up the next one.”

“Ordered a sword with extras. Sword turned out great, but I also ordered a sword stand. It never came. I had it ordered through swordis and I contacted customer service. It’s been weeks without an update. I spent over $900 for the best sword they could put together, a Shirasaya and a stand and I only received two of the items.”

Hey Michael! I want to sincerely apologize for this situation. The forge has been overwhelmed with orders lately, and unfortunately, a few sword stands were overlooked in some shipments. We spoke with the forge right away and shipped a new one 2–3 weeks ago, but the courier lost the package. We then sent it again and added the tracking link to our website so you could receive live updates — but it looks like a system bug prevented the code from reaching you. As soon as you reached out, we checked everything, and David got back to you immediately. I want to personally assure you that you will receive your stand, and we would never ghost on our customers — especially when something goes wrong with an order. Thank you for your patience. You will get everything you paid for, and we’ll make it up to you. We truly appreciate your understanding!

“I’m not one to normally write a review but because of how incredible their whole process has been, I feel it is necessary. The craftsmanship of Hanbon Forge is nothing short of excellent. My katana was made exactly how I selected all the way down to the small details. The fact you have so many options of customization and still get this level of quality is mind blowing. Their customer service is top notch as well. I received updates along the way and pictures of everything once it was completed incase there was something I wasn’t happy with or wanted changed. It shipped incredibly fast and I was sent tracking as soon as it was ready. I’ve told all my friends and family about it and have already recommended Hanbon to a coworker of mine. If anyone is in the market for a custom katana and wants the highest quality without emptying the wallet Hanbon Forge is the way to go. You will not be disappointed.”

“I ordered a custom katana ,and it is 10 times better then I thought it would be ,my custom sword cost me $292.00 but it looks better then some 500 to 600. dollar swords my friends have ,so if you are thinking of ordering a custom katana ,go for it , it's awesome”
