“As discussed in our email and the pictures I sent the chilies were way hotter than mild and the quality was not close to previous years that I have experienced or expected as there were spoiled ones and all had started to wilt. It is unfortunate especially as we changed nothing on our orders compared to previous.”

Hi Richard, What you received is 1904 as that was the only variety we harvested and shipped on 8/18. A shipping label was printed for your order on 8/17, but the chile was not picked and shipped until 8/18. The box was delivered 3 days later on 8/21. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience here and, after pulling up your order, I can see why. We have pretty clear guidelines on our shipping page as to what services we guarantee. You opted for ground, which states that it may spoil in transit. Many customers have OK results with ground, so we provide it as an option to our customers with that warning. There is also a pop-up that you have to click through warning customers against opting for anything less than 2-Day Air if they are going to order fresh chile for shipment. Ground trucks are often 120-130 degrees as they transit from city to city during the daytime and this causes the chile to shrivel and spoil much, much quicker than it does when transported in a plane. “This Chile is a unique flavored Chile and when roasted peeled and seeded, you can control even with the mild addition heat by how much membrane you include. They arrived in perfect condition, with only 1 broken but still usable. We roasted, and even tried smoking some. Some smoked after roasting and peeling, some fresh. Bothe are great and a super replacement to chipotle.”

“One of my yearly traditions is buying, roasting, peeling and seeding 25 lbs of Hatch Chilis. I use small ziplock freezer bags (they freeze real well) and this is enough to get me thru until next season. Thanks Hatch Chili store for the great product delivered right to my door. Rick”
